We are bringing thousands of devices to the field every month with a wide variety of models and this doesn’t come without challenges. We are looking for an Android Engineer with AOSP experience to help us in taking full control over the Android OS. What you will do:  * Lead the Android AOSP efforts in order to build a strong and flexible foundation for our Android payments application * Engage in cross-functional conversations with product management, software engineering and hardware engineering teams to ensure the best payment experience for our merchants * Drive conversations with SOC (system on chip) vendors and terminal vendors in order to secure high performing components  * Ensure software quality by using the latest technologies and frameworks in Android OS engineering * Coach team members to grow the team with the right skill set Who you are: * 5+ years of experience working with the Android OS. * In-depth understanding of the Android OS, spanning from secure boot and the Linux Kernel up to the Java Framework integration. * Proficient in C/C++. Knowledge of Java and/or Kotlin is a plus. Experience working with source control tools such as Git, Repo, Gerrit, GitHub, and with Android command line tools such as adb and fastboot. * Proven track record navigating multi-party development lifecycles, including experience with Google’s communication channels (Mailing lists, Android Security Bulletins) and compliance tools (VTS/CTS/STS). * Experience in modifying AOSP for domain specific features * Expertise in implementing and integrating HAL (HIDL/AIDL) interfaces and wrappers to bridge hardware functionality with the Android Framework. * Experience in debugging issues within the Android Framework and Linux Kernel. * Passionate about solving large scale problems and building great software for customers.   Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments  Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. Optimize Interfaces We’re looking for an enthusiastic, self-driven Engineering Manager to lead the Optimize Interfaces team. You will lead the team that develops and owns the engineering foundation behind Adyen Payments Optimization: the backbone that delivers Routing and Signaling as a Service across the global payment processing. As an Engineering Manager, you will build, mentor, and coach a diverse and talented team of backend, machine learning and data engineers. You should be comfortable streamlining the team's engineering operations, refining product requirements together with product and merchants and encouraging effective collaboration. As a critical role in the continued success of our organization, you will help to iterate our culture and build an amazing team environment that will create future leaders for Adyen. What you'll do * Lead the cross-functional Optimization Interfaces team with hands-on technical leadership, driving architecture strategy and raising the bar through active mentoring and technical guidance. * Work cross-functionally with Design, Product, Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Developers and other key stakeholders. * Have a multiplier effect by motivating team members and providing coaching in areas including but not limited to: engineering best practices, scalable architecture design, product roadmap discussions. * Maintain an inclusive team culture focused on autonomy, ownership, collaboration, communication, and impact. * Collaborate with different teams to design and implement new services with reliability/infra/data/dev in mind. * Set clear individual and team goals that align with our strategic engineering ambitions in close collaboration with the product manager. * Create an inspiring and collaborative team environment with an open communication/feedback culture. * Recruit new team members who align with the Adyen culture and required skills.  Who you are * You have an affinity for the Payments optimization domain. * An energetic self-starter experienced in creating alignment between multiple teams. * You have experience with Core Java, Distributed systems, machine learning products and BI tools (e.g., Looker). * You are able to define, implement and monitor performance to quickly identify opportunities for improvement in existing systems. * You have experience in coaching and mentoring engineering talent. * You have experience in leading technical projects in a fast paced and critical environment. * You have experience collaborating with senior leadership to set strategic direction including product roadmaps. * You are an excellent communicator and team player who can inspire others around them. * You can clearly communicate technical concepts to non-engineers. HEAD OF ENGINEERING, ADYEN PROTECT We are seeking a visionary and highly technical Head of Engineering to lead the development and scaling of Adyen Protect. Adyen Protect is our ML-first product suite designed to detect and mitigate payment fraud in real-time across billions of transactions. In this role, you will lead a specialized domain of four high-impact engineering teams dedicated to staying ahead of increasingly sophisticated global fraud networks. You will be the strategic driver behind our risk engine, ensuring that our ML models are not only accurate and performant but also transparent and actionable for the world's largest merchants. This is a role for a leader who thrives at the intersection of big data, predictive modeling, and high-availability systems. You will be responsible for ensuring that as Adyen grows, our ability to protect our merchants and their consumers remains world-class. WHAT YOU’LL DO: * Vision & Strategy: Define and execute the technical roadmap for Adyen Protect, aligning Machine Learning capabilities with the evolving needs of global e-commerce and regulatory landscapes. * Scale ML Operations: Lead four multidisciplinary teams in building and maintaining scalable infrastructure for model training, real-time scoring, and automated experimentation (A/B testing) at the millisecond level. * Engineering Excellence: Establish and maintain high standards for engineering quality and reliability. Ensure our fraud detection systems are resilient, low-latency, and capable of processing massive data volumes without downtime. * Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with Product Leaders, Risk officers, and other parts of the business to translate complex fraud patterns into robust technical features and automated mitigation strategies. * Team Development: Mentor and grow a high-performing organization of engineers and engineering managers. Foster an inclusive environment that encourages rapid prototyping, ethical AI practices, and continuous learning. * Merchant Advocacy: Interface with our largest global merchants to understand their unique risk profiles and ensure Adyen Protect provides the granular control and insights they need to grow their business safely. WHO YOU ARE: * ML & Data Enthusiast: You have a deep understanding of Machine Learning lifecycles, from data engineering and feature extraction to model deployment and monitoring. * Proven Leader: You have a track record of leading complex engineering organizations and managing other managers, specifically within high-growth fintech or SaaS environments. * Strategic Problem Solver: You can balance the immediate need for fraud mitigation with the long-term goal of reducing "false positives" to maximize merchant revenue. * Tech-Fluent: You remain technically literate and are comfortable diving into architecture discussions regarding distributed systems, data pipelines, and real-time processing. * Collaborative: You excel at building bridges between technical and non-technical stakeholders, explaining the "why" behind complex (ML) decisions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * 7+ years of technical experience, including significant tenure as a hands-on software or machine learning engineer. * 5+ years of experience in manager-of-managers roles, overseeing multiple engineering teams. * Experience with High-Scale Systems: Proven track record of managing products that handle high-throughput, low-latency workloads (e.g., payments, cybersecurity, or real-time bidding). * Domain Expertise: Familiarity with fraud detection, risk management, or identity verification systems is highly preferred.
