And we're only getting started. As a software engineer with a backend focus, you will work with your team to build infrastructure and products for the Databricks platform at scale. The impact you'll have: Our backend teams span many domains across our essential service platforms. For instance, you might work on challenges such as: * Problems that span from product to infrastructure including: distributed systems, at-scale service architecture and monitoring, workflow orchestration, and developer experience. * Deliver reliable and high performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing humongous amount of data on cloud storage backends, e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Store. * Build reliable, scalable services, e.g. Scala, Kubernetes, and data pipelines, e.g. Spark, Databricks, to power the pricing infrastructure that serves millions of cluster-hours per day and develop product features that empower customers to easily view and control platform usage. What we look for: * BS (or higher) in Computer Science, or a related field * 3+ years of production level experience in one of: Java, Scala, C++, or similar language. * Experience developing large-scale distributed systems. * Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures. * Good knowledge of SQL. Below are some example teams you can join: SQL Analytics Console: SQL Analytics is a new product that provides Databricks customers with a first-class experience for performing Business Intelligence (BI) and running SQL workloads directly on the data lake. Our team builds the "console" for SQL Analytics, where users configure, manage and monitor their SQL usage. Jobs and Workflows: This team powers all asynchronous customer workloads for Databricks which is the majority of Databricks usage. As this usage has rapidly increased - we've rearchitected the system for increased stability and scalability. We are also building exciting new features for more advanced workflows and customer observability. This team has a mix of frontend, backend, and reliability engineering skills & projects. Developer Ecosystem: The developer ecosystem team focuses on the development experience and best practices using tools outside of the workspace. We own and govern the core developer ecosystem open-source components: the SDK, the CLI, and Terraform. Apps Developer Experience - This is the team that makes developing Apps on Databricks delightful and easy. We have built an SDK and services for app developers - AppKit. Our Codegen sub-team builds tools that enable agents to generate Apps that work first time. We're currently. working on an MCP server for Cursor/Claude Code and are working on Skills. What we look for: * BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, or a related field * 5+ years of experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript * Passion for user experience and design and a deep understanding of front-end architecture * Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables * Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, VueJs/Ember) * Strong familiarity with server-side web technologies (eg: Nodejs, Java, Python, Scala, C#, C++,Go, JVM) * Good knowledge of SQL * Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes * Experience in architecting, developing, deploying, and operating large scale distributed systems About Databricks Databricks is the data and AI company. Purpose of the Position As Senior Software Engineer, you will take ownership of designing, building and operating scalable, high-quality systems within our award‑winning marketing platform. You will play a key role in shaping technical direction, influencing engineering practices, and driving improvements across the team and wider organisation.  You are a highly experienced and pragmatic technologist with a strong product mindset, able to balance technical excellence with business impact. You actively mentor others and contribute to raising the overall engineering bar. The Team You will be joining our Tracking tribe, a cross functional team at the core of the business, responsible for building and evolving Awin’s tracking platform, the backbone of our affiliate marketing network.  Tracking is critical to how Awin operates: it ensures accurate attribution, reliable reporting, and partner trust across advertisers and publishers.  Key tasks and responsibilities * Own the end-to-end delivery and operation of features and services. * Design, build, and evolve scalable, secure, and maintainable systems. * Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions. * Improve existing applications, reduce technical debt, and strengthen reliability. * Collaborate with Product Managers to turn business needs into technical solutions. * Identify and address technical risks, performance issues, and scalability challenges. * Champion engineering quality through testing, code reviews, tooling, and best practices. * Troubleshoot complex production issues and support system resilience. * Mentor engineers and contribute to the team’s technical growth. * Improve team processes across planning, delivery, and retrospectives. * Collaborate effectively with local and remote teams across the organisation.  Whilst the above outlines the general expectations of the role, we expect this position to evolve over time, offering opportunities to gain deeper knowledge and experience within the online and affiliate marketing domain.
