YOUR MISSION * Flight Control Software: Design, implement and test model-based software, enabling new flight functionality. * Simulation: Test newly implemented features in a thorough simulation framework. Perform simulation-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests to verify new features. * Analysis: Collect and analyze data to evaluate algorithm performance and identify potential for improvement. Support the development of analysis tools. YOUR PROFILE * Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred. * Experience: Significant experience with model-based programming, preferably in the aviation or space industry; Familiarity with the associated standards and best practices; Experience with programming in C or Python a plus. Prior experience with HIL and SIL a plus. * Skills: Strong knowledge of model-based programming (Simulink or similar); Good understanding of flight dynamics; Capability to design thorough test programs from unit to system level. * Communication: Very good technical communication skills. * Language: Excellent language skills in English (oral and written). YOUR MISSION Key Tasks * Propulsion System Leadership: Act as the technical authority for propulsion systems. Define system requirements, responsible for engine integration and verification methods. Collaborate with vendors to troubleshoot performance issues and drive design improvements. * Cross-Functional Integration: Work with aerodynamics, structural, and avionics teams to optimize engine integration, cooling, and vibration mitigation. Ensure propulsion systems align with the helicopter mission profiles (e.g., endurance, payload capacity, altitude, temperature, and other environmental factors). * Testing & Validation: Lead ground and flight testing campaigns to validate engine performance under operational conditions. Develop test campaigns and test plans. Analyze data to refine system parameters. * Vendor & Customer Management: Serve as the primary technical liaison between internal teams and propulsion system vendors. Review vendor designs, conduct risk assessments, and ensure deliverables meet project timelines. Support customer engagements to resolve requirements ambiguity. * Lifecycle Support: Develop maintenance protocols and failure-mode analyses for propulsion systems. Support field operations teams in diagnosing and resolving engine-related issues. Develop and maintain strategic alignment of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations. * Documentation and Compliance: Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, checking and preparing drawings, testing procedures, and maintenance manuals. Ensure mechanical designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies. * Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about advancements in mechanical engineering and UAV technology, integrating best practices into analysis processes. YOUR PROFILE Qualifications * Education: Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field and (3) years of industry experience. Doctoral degree is equivalent to industry experience. * Experience: 8+ years of systems engineering development experience. 5+ years in propulsion system design, integration, and test, preferably with gas or heavy fuel engines. A plus: experience with heavy fuel engines in maritime operations, and prior technical lead roles in UAV/aerospace projects. * Skills: * Knowledge of power and propulsion system and subsystem components such as fuel systems, propulsion-airframe integration, and ground equipment. * Proven experience managing vendor partnerships and cross-functional engineering teams. * Strong project management abilities (Agile, SCRUM, or similar frameworks). * Knowledge of DO-160, MIL-STD-461, or other aerospace environmental testing standards. * Communication: Very good communication skills. High social skills and good analytical and excellent technical understanding. * Language: Good language skills in English (oral and written). German desirable. * Passport: Swiss / EU Nationals only.
YOUR MISSION Key Responsibilities Engine & Powerplant Maintenance * Remove, install, and replace engine components and assemblies following approved procedures. * Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair engine ancillary equipment including fuel systems, ignition systems, oil systems, and cooling systems. * Conduct engine ground runs and operational tests to verify proper function. Maintain and repair engine mounts, cowlings, exhaust systems, and air induction systems. * Monitor engine parameters and diagnose mechanical and performance issues. Handle fuel system maintenance includes pumps, filters, lines, and tanks. Electrical Systems * Install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair aircraft electrical systems including power generation, distribution, batteries, and wiring. * Test electrical components and assemblies using circuit testers, oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and multimeters. * Assemble and install electrical components using hand tools and soldering equipment. * Perform system functional tests. Repair or replace defective electrical wiring, connectors, and electronic components. Documentation & Compliance * Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and aircraft records in compliance with aviation regulations. * Ensure compliance with FAA/EASA airworthiness directives and service bulletins. Safety & Quality Assurance * Follow all aviation safety procedures, regulations, and best practices. * Conduct pre-flight and post-maintenance inspections. * Identify and report safety hazards or airworthiness discrepancies. * Ensure all work meets quality standards and regulatory requirements. YOUR PROFILE Qualifications * Education: Technical diploma in aircraft maintenance, electrical systems, or mechanical related field. Avionics training or certification or engine-specific training certifications a plus. EASA Part-66 license a plus. * Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience maintaining aircraft electrical systems, engines, and mechanical components. Proven experience working on turbine or piston aircraft engines. Experience with aircraft electrical troubleshooting and avionics systems. Familiarity with helicopter systems (rotorcraft, turboshaft engines) is highly desirable. Experience in aerospace, aviation, or rotorcraft maintenance environments a plus. * Skills: Working knowledge of aircraft electrical systems, power generation, and distribution. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings. Solid mechanical aptitude with expertise in engine systems and fuel systems. Proficient use of electrical test equipment. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, precision measuring instruments. Familiar with aircraft maintenance and technical documentation. * Safety and Regulatory: Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Strong attention to detail with systematic and methodical approach to troubleshooting. Understanding of fuel system safety procedures and handling practices. Working knowledge of relevant aviation regulations a plus. * Physical: Capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and working in awkward positions for extended periods. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for precision work with small components and soldering. Visual acuity to inspect components, read technical documents, and identify defects. Hearing ability sufficient to detect abnormal sounds during engine runs and equipment operation. * Communication: Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, engineers, and management.
