In Agoda’s Engineering department, we build the scalable and fault-tolerant systems.  Our systems cover all major areas of our

business: website, mobile apps, affiliate apis, inventory and pricing, product information, customer data, communications, partner

data, booking systems, payments, finance and more. These mission-critical systems change frequently with dozens of releases per

day, so we must employ state-of-the-art CI/CD, experimentation and advanced testing techniques in order to make sure everything

works without any downtime. We also ensure that our systems are self-healing, responding gracefully to extreme loads or unexpected

input. In order to accomplish this, we use state-of-the-art languages like React, Redux state management, Javascript,  Kotlin,

Scala, data technologies like Kafka, Aerospike and Big Data, and agile development practices. Most importantly though, we hire

great people from all around the world and empower them to be successful. Whether it’s building new projects like Flights and

The Opportunity:

The Senior Engineering Manager role at Agoda is one of the most significant and challenging roles in Technology. The right

candidate has both deep technical knowledge and exhibits extremely strong leadership and people development skills. They should

also have experience leading large engineering teams and managing managers.

In this Role, you’ll get to:

Manage large engineering teams
Directly manage engineering managers and star engineers.
Provide technical input into new business ideas
Work with senior leadership up to C-level
Work and drive initiatives outside of your core team
Build and guide the technical roadmap for your area
Take ownership of major projects that are strategic to Agoda.

What you’ll Need to Succeed:

Experience managing large engineering teams (>25 people)
Experience hiring and managing engineering managers
Experience developing future engineering managers from within the company
Experience rapidly growing a team
Experience communicating to C-level
At least 5 years of experience managing engineering teams, 10+ years of experience in software engineering.
Demonstrable experience as a system owner with operational responsibility
Able to operate with autonomously: making decisions, setting KPIs, with a strong sense of ownership
Extremely proficient in at least one programming language (React, Javascript, Kotlin, Scala, Java, C#)
Knowledge in scale, microservices and clean architecture.
A focus on velocity and quality, along with the right engineering metrics to guide and improve these.

Unlike the Engineering Manager role, this position focuses more on leading managers, shaping strategy, and driving cross-team execution. This role also offers the opportunity to lead teams working on fintech-related platforms and transaction-heavy systems, including areas connected to payments, financial operations, and other business-critical services where scalability, resilience, security, and reliability are essential. Our goal is to enable and increase Agoda’s business through creative approaches and the implementation of powerful resources such as operational and analytical databases, ML driven solutions, queue systems and data monitoring tools. The role the engineering team plays at Agoda is critical as business users, product managers, and many others rely on us to empower their decision making. We work across structured and non-structured data at scale. For example, our current ML models process millions of images every day to try and enhance the experience that our users get from our app. Why Agoda Engineering Team (ML role)? Our engineering teams are at the intersection of business analytics, ml engineering, data warehousing and software engineering. Our job involves dealing with distributed systems, stream processing, ml modeling and computation at tens of PB Scale. We focus on software engineering related to data replication, storage, centralized computation, and Data API’s. By providing our users with ML products/tools, shared frameworks, and ML services, we enable our company to validate strategic decisions, make smarter choices, and react to the fast-changing world. We are a small but passionate team with people from different nationalities working together on a single goal. In this Role, you will get to: * Lead the team technically in improving scalability, stability, accuracy, speed and efficiency of our existing ML systems and processes. Agoda’s Finance Operations Excellence is seeking an Assistant Manager/Senior Specialist to help us reimagine and optimize our finance processes. You will play a key role in identifying improvement opportunities, implementing best-in-class solutions, and supporting our journey towards building a world-class finance operations center. Key Responsibilities * Process Improvement & Transformation: Analyze, design, and implement process improvements across finance operations (AP, AR, GL, payments, reconciliations, etc.) to drive efficiency, accuracy, and business value. Be comfortable in executing VSMs and Kaizens independently. Be conversant with the latest trends in process improvement leveraging AI/ML and GenAI * Data Analysis & Insights: Leverage data analytics to identify trends, root causes (using lean methods), and improvement opportunities. Develop dashboards and reports to monitor KPIs and process health. * Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement: Support and/or lead cross-functional projects with finance, product, tech and business teams independently, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and effective stakeholder communication. * Automation & Technology Enablement: Create macro-based solutions and/or collaborate with technology teams to automate manual processes using RPA, workflow tools, and other digital solutions. * Documentation & Training: Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and training materials to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance. What You’ll Need to Succeed Technical & Functional Skills * Experience with process mapping, process reengineering, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies * Solid understanding of finance operations processes (OTC, PTP and RTR). Experience as a User of these processes is a plus.   * Strong analytical skills; ability to work with large datasets, perform detailed root cause analysis, and generate actionable insights and improvement plans. * Skilled at creating Excel macros to automate processes is preferred * Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). * Familiarity with finance systems (ERP, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and automation tools (RPA, Alteryx, UiPath, etc.) is highly desirable.
