Mid-Level Fullstack Engineer (TypeScript / Python/ AWS)

The Role We're looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer to join a team building and scaling a modern, enterprise-grade GenAI platform on AWS. This is a full-stack engineering role with a strong frontend focus, where you'll spend significant time building high-quality user experiences using React and TypeScript. Equally important, you'll work closely with AWS cloud services, infrastructure, and platform engineering to help design, deploy, and operate scalable, secure, and highly available systems. You'll be part of a team bringing AI capabilities into real-world enterprise workflows, ensuring solutions are production-ready, observable, resilient, and able to scale with demand. What You'll Be Doing * Build modern, responsive web applications using React and TypeScript * Design scalable, maintainable UI architectures and reusable component libraries * Develop backend services, primarily in Python * Integrate with REST and GraphQL APIs * Design, build, and operate cloud-native solutions on AWS * Work with AWS services to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient applications * Deploy and manage applications in containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes * Contribute to Infrastructure as Code and cloud automation practices * Improve CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes * Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and operational best practices * Support cloud reliability, performance optimisation, and incident resolution * Apply secure coding principles and cloud security best practices * Troubleshoot issues across both application and AWS infrastructure layers * Collaborate with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver production-ready systems What We're Looking For * Strong experience building applications with React and TypeScript * Experience developing backend services using Python * Hands-on experience working with AWS in production environments * Understanding of cloud-native architecture and distributed systems principles * Experience deploying and operating applications in cloud environments * Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes * Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices * Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tooling * Experience integrating with REST and/or GraphQL APIs * Strong software engineering fundamentals and system design skills * Understanding of security best practices, particularly within cloud environments Nice to Have * AWS certifications (Developer, Solutions Architect, or similar) * Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK) * Experience running Kubernetes workloads in AWS (EKS) * Experience with serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda * Familiarity with AWS services such as ECS, EKS, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and IAM * Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or New Relic * Exposure to distributed and event-driven architectures * Experience working in consulting or client-facing environments * Experience operating systems in security-conscious or regulated environments Why Join Instil? Data Engineer (Python/ AWS)

The Role We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join a team building and evolving a modern cloud-based data platform. This is a hands-on role focused on designing, building, and improving data pipelines and services, while also contributing to API design and occasional frontend work where needed. You’ll work across the stack, primarily in Python and AWS, helping to deliver reliable, well-structured data and making it easier for teams to ingest, access, and use it. The focus is on practical delivery: building ingestion and transformation pipelines, exposing data through APIs, and supporting a platform that removes bottlenecks and enables better use of data across the organisation. What You’ll Be Doing * Design, build, and maintain ETL / ELT pipelines in production environments * Develop ingestion and egress patterns to support reliable data access and integration * Work with structured and semi-structured data (e.g. JSON, Parquet) * Build and maintain data models across a cloud data platform * Design and implement APIs to expose data for downstream consumers * Contribute to cloud-based data platform development in AWS * Support lightweight frontend work (React / TypeScript) for data-focused tools where needed * Implement observability practices (logging, monitoring, tracing) across data pipelines and APIs * Improve reliability, performance, and failure handling across the platform * Collaborate with engineers and analysts to deliver data that supports reporting and operational use cases What We’re Looking For * Experience building and supporting data platforms or pipelines in production * Strong Python skills for data processing, transformation, and pipeline development * Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and performance optimisation * Experience with ETL / ELT design and implementation * Experience working with AWS data services * Experience working with a cloud data warehouse (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, or similar) * Experience designing and implementing APIs * Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with evolving requirements * Good communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams Nice to Have * Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript * Experience contributing to frontend applications (React) * Familiarity with observability tooling (logging, monitoring, tracing) * Experience with data modelling and metadata management * Exposure to CI/CD practices for data pipelines and services * Experience working in delivery-focused, agile environments Why Join Instil? QA Engineer (Contract)

The Role We’re looking for a QA Engineer to join our engineering team in Belfast, helping ensure the quality of the software we deliver across a range of projects. This is a hands-on role where you’ll focus on building out automation, improving test coverage, and working closely with engineers to make quality part of the development process, not something that happens at the end. You’ll be working in fast-moving, agile teams, contributing to how we test, release, and continuously improve the systems we build. What You’ll Be Doing * Build and maintain automated tests for web-based applications using tools like Playwright * Automate tests across both user interfaces and backend services * Expand and maintain automated regression test suites to support reliable releases * Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery * Contribute to test strategies and quality approaches across projects * Set up and manage test environments and test data as required * Identify defects, track them through to resolution, and help ensure root causes are understood * Communicate testing progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to the wider team * Participate fully in agile ceremonies, contributing to planning, refinement, and continuous improvement What We’re Looking For * 5+ years’ experience in a QA or software testing role * Strong experience with test automation strategies for web applications * Experience working with test frameworks in Playwright (or similar tools) * A good understanding of different testing types (functional, integration, regression, etc.) * Experience working in agile, delivery-focused teams * Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (e.g. GitHub, Jenkins or similar) * Strong attention to detail and a pragmatic approach to testing * Clear communication skills and the ability to work closely with engineers and stakeholders Nice to Have * Experience testing cloud-based systems (AWS or similar) * Exposure to API or service-level testing * Experience of using AI tools to support testing efforts * Familiarity with performance or non-functional testing approaches * An interest in improving QA processes and tooling * Experience working across multiple projects or client environments Please note: We offer flexible hybrid working, but candidates should be based in Northern Ireland and able to attend our Belfast office when required.
