As a Staff Software Engineer at Databricks India, you can get to work across :  - Backend  - DDS (Distributed Data Systems) - Full Stack The impact you'll have: 1. Our Backend teams span many domains across our essential service platforms. For instance, you might work on challenges such as: * Problems that span from product to infrastructure including: distributed systems, at-scale service architecture and monitoring, workflow orchestration, and developer experience. * Deliver reliable and high performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing humongous amount of data on cloud storage backends, e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Store. * Build reliable, scalable services, e.g. Scala, Kubernetes, and data pipelines, e.g. Apache Spark™, Databricks, to power the pricing infrastructure that serves millions of cluster-hours per day and develop product features that empower customers to easily view and control platform usage. 2. Our DDS team spans across: * Apache Spark™ * Data Plane Storage * Delta Lake * Delta Pipelines * Performance Engineering 3. As a Full Stack software engineer, you will work closely with your team and product management to bring that delight through great user experience. What we look for: * 12+ years of production level experience in one of: Python, Java, Scala, C++, or similar language. * BS (or higher) in Computer Science, or a related field * Experience developing large-scale distributed systems from scratch * Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures. As one of the first engineers for Money at Databricks India, you will be key to building a base for one of Databricks’ most central engineering teams. You will own critical components that form the backbone of our products, starting with Databricks’ resource admission control and usage governance infrastructure. Your role is crucial in helping bring diverse business needs together, including abuse prevention, product commercialisation motions, and reliable product availability at scale. You will work closely with infrastructure as well as product teams in bringing critical governance functionality to Databricks customers. THE IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE: * Own Money systems and services that govern usage of all Databricks products and offerings. * Enhance engineering and infrastructure efficiency, reliability, accuracy, and response times, including CI/CD processes, test frameworks, data quality assurance, end-to-end reconciliation, and anomaly detection. * Collaborate with platform and product teams to develop and implement innovative infrastructure that scales to meet evolving needs. * Provide leadership in long-term vision and requirements development for Databricks products, in partnership with our engineering teams. * Represent Databricks at academic and industrial conferences & events. WHAT WE LOOK FOR: * BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, or a related field * 12+ years of production level experience in one of: Java, Scala, C++, or similar language. * Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables. * Proven track record in architecting, developing, deploying, and operating large scale distributed systems. * Experience with software security and systems that handle sensitive data. * Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead across functional and organizational boundaries. * A proactive approach and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions * Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes.
