Team We are a cross-functional engineering team composed of frontend and backend engineers, responsible for the full end-to-end development lifecycle supporting our US business. From discovery and design to delivery, operations, and continuous improvement, we own our solutions throughout their entire lifecycle. We build and operate a mission-critical, 24/7 fintech platform that serves customers in a highly regulated and reliability-sensitive environment. Our systems demand high availability, scalability, resilience, and a strong focus on customer experience. Your Responsibilities * You write clean code and always follow the agreed best practices in the team. * You do good code reviews, helping the team to keep best practices, business rules and with respectful and constructive communication. * You write automation tests ensuring the quality of your software deliveries. * You support a "green" development and staging environment, helping to identify and fix issues with the test pipelines. * You are taking active participation in the team ceremonies. * You are capable of following the incident management process during regular working hours and also during your on-call shifts. * You actively participate in TechDemo and other knowledge-sharing initiatives. * You are using AI tools (e.g., code completion, test generation, documentation assistance) to increase your development velocity and reduce boilerplate work. * You are evaluating AI-generated output critically, verifying its correctness, safety, and maintainability before integrating it into production code. Your Profile Motivated and detail-oriented Computer Science student with hands-on experience in frontend development. Experience in building responsive and user-friendly web applications. Passionate about writing clean, maintainable code and continuously improving technical and problem-solving skills. Team The Accounting and Payments team, part of the Corporate Services tribe within Raisin's Products & Engineering, develop and maintain account reconciliation and payment processing through customization of the Oracle NetSuite ERP tool (via javascript) as well as building Java and Python microservices and AWS Lambda functions.  The team's tech stack includes JavaScript (Node.js, SuiteScript), Java and Python. Their customizations and process automations play a vital role in supporting Raisin's ecosystem. Your Responsibilities * Collaborate with our Software Engineering team to develop, test, and maintain software solutions. * Assist in writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code in (Java, Javascript and Python). * Support the team in debugging and troubleshooting software issues. * Participate in code reviews, share feedback, and learn best practices from experienced developers. * Contribute to the design and implementation of new features and functionalities. * Help maintain technical documentation and ensure code quality through testing and automation. * Engage in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and agile development processes. Your Profile * You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. * +2 years of experience in Java/Kotlin.  * Knowing JS/TS (backend frameworks) and Python is a big plus. * Familiarity with software development concepts like version control (Git), databases (SQL/NoSQL), and web technologies (REST APIs). * Interest in learning about cloud platforms like AWS. * Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. * Proactive, curious, and motivated to learn new technologies in a collaborative environment. As a Senior Backend Engineer in the Shop Team, you will sit at the heart of our mission, building and scaling the gateway that allows medical students and clinicians around the world to access the AMBOSS platform. In this team, your backend architectural decisions have a direct, measurable impact on revenue and user discovery. Whether you are scaling high-availability payment services or prototyping a bold new hypothesis, you will be defining how the world buys AMBOSS. While your primary expertise and core focus will be on the backend, you will also have the opportunity to expand your skill set and collaborate on our frontend application, bringing a willingness to learn and work across the full stack. You will: * Ramp Up: Become a domain expert in AMBOSS's shop and payment architecture, from deep subscription logic to international tax compliance. * Build & Scale: Design, evolve, and maintain high-availability backend services handling global payment processing and complex financial transactions. * Own the Lifecycle: Manage backend discovery, technical design, deployment, monitoring, and database management at scale. * Collaborate & Learn: Build deep working relationships with Product, Design, and Finance stakeholders. Work closely with frontend engineers and proactively learn/contribute to our React-based customer-facing application when features require end-to-end implementation. * Ship Impact: Deliver end-to-end features and backend improvements from discovery to deployment, ensuring a localized, frictionless checkout experience for our global users. * Innovate with AI: Use tools like Cursor or Copilot and research how emerging technologies (LLMs, automation) can add genuine user value. You Bring: * Go (Golang): Deep, senior-level backend fundamentals (concurrency patterns, performance tuning, robust API design, and error handling). * Frontend Willingness to Learn: A foundational understanding of modern JavaScript/TypeScript and web mechanics, paired with an open, enthusiastic mindset to learn, read, and write frontend code in React alongside our team. * API Design: Comprehensive experience building scalable, clean APIs with GraphQL and/or REST. * Architectural Intuition: The ability to deconstruct complex, monolithic codebases and design highly resilient, distributed data models at scale. * Ops & Observability: Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Kubernetes).
