We are looking for a Finance Operations Manager to be the backbone of our day-to-day financial operations. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role sitting at the intersection of accounting, billing, and process improvement. At Upvest, we are on a mission to make investing as easy as spending money. Upvest empowers businesses to offer a wide range of investment products and the best experience in the field of capital market investment and retirement planning. Upvest’s Investment API is easy to integrate so that fintechs and financial institutions can save resources and fully focus on their core business. We are proud to partner with Europe’s leading Fintechs and financial institutions such as DKB, Revolut, N26 and Raisin. Founded in 2017 by Martin Kassing, Upvest now brings together over 270 talented professionals from more than 70 nationalities. Upvest is backed by €280M in total funding from world-class investors, including BlackRock, Tencent, Sapphire Ventures, and Bessemer Venture Partners, Earlybird, Notion Capital, and Motive. Our latest €105M funding round in March 2026 - led by Sapphire and Tencent - serves as a massive catalyst for our growth, allowing us to offer premier investment experience. ABOUT THE ROLE: Procurement at Upvest is currently fragmented — ownership is split across teams, there is no decision logic to route requests by risk or size, and no single person is accountable end-to-end. That changes with this hire. As the first dedicated Procurement Manager at Upvest, you will move our vendor management from a decentralized model to a centralized, professional powerhouse. You will own the entire lifecycle of our partnerships - from initial sourcing and technical vetting to contract expiration management. Reporting to the Head of Network, you will bridge the gap between operational needs, financial discipline, and regulatory compliance. This is not a process improvement project. What we need is permanent ownership: a single person accountable for end-to-end procurement, with the institutional knowledge and authority to drive outcomes. WHAT YOU’LL DO: * Centralized Procurement Ownership: Act as the sole lead for all procurement activities at Upvest. You will manage the full lifecycle for Indirect Spend (SaaS, IT, Services) and provide strategic and administrative support for Direct Spend (Trading, Custody, Market Data). * Procurement Tool Product Owner: Act as the company-wide "go-to" person and administrator for our procurement tool. You will be responsible for its further setup, creating internal work instructions, and training stakeholders to ensure the tool is used effectively across the organization. * Policy & Process Architecture: Build and enhance Upvest’s procurement policies and processes. This includes implementing a risk-tiered decision tree (e.g. Legal review thresholds by contract value), a fast-track review path for expanded use cases of already-approved tools, and standardised business case templates to eliminate back-and-forth before the process can begin. You will create clear work instructions that ensure our procurement journey is transparent, audit-ready, and efficient. * Contract Lifecycle Management: Proactively manage contract expirations and notice periods through our procurement tool. You will partner with internal business owners well in advance of deadlines to ensure informed "renew vs. cancel" decisions. * Regulatory & Risk Guardrail: Work closely with our 2nd-line Outsourcing Management to ensure compliance with MaRisk/DORA/NIS2/KRITIS. While business owners hold primary responsibility for their specific tools, you will provide the oversight and structure to ensure all regulatory requirements are met. * Technical Sourcing: Leverage your understanding of cloud infrastructure (e.g., GCP) to challenge technical spend and negotiate favorable Service Level Agreements (SLAs). * Finance Partnership: Maintain a close collaboration with the Finance team to ensure all procurement activities align with company budgets and financial reporting. WHAT YOU BRING: * Experience: 5+ years in procurement or strategic sourcing, ideally within a high-growth Fintech or a regulated financial institution. * Technical Literacy: An understanding of IT infrastructure and cloud providers. You speak the language of both Finance and Engineering. * Process Mindset: You are deeply detail-driven and thrive on creating order out of chaos. You enjoy writing policies and ensuring they are followed, but you remain practical and solution-oriented. * Self-Starter: You are comfortable setting the procurement strategy while simultaneously handling the administrative execution. * Tool experience: Procurement Automation Tools * Stakeholder Influence: You know how to drive adoption across teams. You introduce structure without creating friction, and you get buy-in through clarity and partnership rather than enforcement. * Communication: Fluent in English and German. * Location: Based in Berlin (mandatory) WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE: * Centralized Transparency: Within the first six months, you have successfully migrated all vendor data and contracts into our procurement tool, creating a single, reliable source of truth for Upvest’s entire vendor landscape. * Process & Lifecycle Excellence: You have established a mature, end-to-end procurement framework. From proactive renewals to seamless offboarding and periodic reassessments, our vendor lifecycle is documented, automated, and free of "shadow spend." * Regulatory Resilience: You are a trusted partner to our 2nd-line Risk and Outsourcing functions; every new vendor undergoes a rigorous, documented risk assessment before any contract is signed, ensuring constant compliance with MaRisk and DORA. * Commercial Impact: You have proactively identified cost-saving opportunities through contract consolidation or renegotiation, ensuring Upvest’s growth remains efficient and scalable. * Operational Agility: You effectively support the Head of Network by managing the administrative and commercial aspects for major Network Partner providers, allowing the team to focus on strategic network expansion and management. * Internal Adoption: You are recognized as the "Procurment Champion" at Upvest, where employees feel supported by your training and clear processes rather than slowed down by them. HOW WE UPVEST IN YOU: * Best-in-class AI tools: Every Upvenger has €20,000 per year to spend on the best AI tools available — so you're always working with the most powerful models and tooling on the market. * Impact-driven work: We’re building the infrastructure that will power the future of investing in Europe. It’s complex, ambitious, and meaningful. You’ll work with modern technologies and create something entirely new. No legacy systems, no limits. * Wellbeing: Recharge with 30 days of annual leave and maintain a healthy lifestyle with sports benefits. Access confidential professional coaching and enjoy the flexibility to work remotely abroad for up to 183 days a year. Recharge with UpRest, a one-month fully paid sabbatical after every 4 years of working at Upvest. * Development: Growth is in our DNA. Each Upvenger has access to a personal development budget and the freedom to decide how to use it. * Flexible work environment: Work from any of our hubs in Berlin, London or Tallinn hybrid or remotely across Europe, depending on the role. We give you the choice and budget to work where you’re most comfortable and productive, either at home or in the office. You choose. * Compensation and equity: We believe that all Upvengers contribute to our success and deserve a competitive, above-market salary and a participation in our employee equity program. * Team celebrations: Participate in company-wide events, such as UpFest, dinners, offsites and our Holiday party, to connect with colleagues and celebrate our achievements. * Inclusion: We’re committed to a culture where everyone belongs and thrives. Our Employee Resources Groups foster inclusion and connection, like Upfem for our female Upvengers, or UpVergent supporting neurodivergent Upvengers and allies. OUR VALUES: * Make it easy for others. We simplify the complex and act with the best intentions. * Own the outcome. We are proactive, fast and confident to get the job done, valuing progress over perfection. * Rise to the challenge. We aim high and push the boundaries. We stay curious, learn and celebrate our wins together. * Tell the story. We start with the Why to align on purpose. We are transparent and share knowledge to empower and inspire others. Upvest is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
