growing their technical depth in a production environment. We’re especially excited about engineers who are deeply
customer-obsessed—who think beyond the ticket in front of them, care about how real users experience the product, and take pride
in leaving systems, code, and processes better than they found them.

and operating within a strong DevOps culture. At Clasp, engineers have real ownership over the systems they build. You’ll be
trusted to take features from idea to production, improve existing systems, and continuously strengthen your craft as part of a

SENIOR FULLSTACK ENGINEER, LENDING (CLASP FINANCE) Remote (ET & CT time zones only – some travel required) ABOUT US Clasp is a venture-backed, mission-driven startup transforming access to education and career pathways. We are revolutionizing the way employers attract and retain critical talent and the way colleges and universities support their students through education financing — all while tackling the student debt crisis. (Yep, we think BIG.) We like to think of ourselves as more than a fintech; we're a catalyst for economic mobility. A Forbes Fintech 50 company, portfolio company of SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management — the largest HR organization out there!) and recipient of "Startup of the Year" by StartUp Boston, Clasp is driven by our commitment to social impact and innovation. Our work spans two business lines: Clasp Talent helps healthcare employers attract and retain critical talent by connecting them with diverse candidates and using student loan repayment as a powerful recruiting and retention tool. We meaningfully connect employers, educational institutions, and learners to drive mutual benefit. Clasp Finance equips colleges and universities with lending technology to launch and operate their own private student loan programs, enabling schools to step in and support their students directly with financial aid. Recent federal financial aid changes are reshaping how institutions think about supporting their students, and Clasp Finance is poised to meet this moment. Join us on our journey to give power to learners and unlock fulfilling careers that drive positive change in their communities and beyond. WHAT WE NEED We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Clasp Finance engineering team, a small, high-impact group working at the intersection of financial operations, product, and data. You will report to the Engineering Director, Lending and work directly with your teammates and stakeholders to build a resilient, highly available, and compliant workbench for Clasp Lending. This is not a role for someone who just ships features and moves on. You'll own hard problems end-to-end, building the operational tooling, data pipelines, and product features that make a lending platform run. You use AI tools deliberately and creatively to move faster than a team twice your size. You have strong opinions about software quality, are relentlessly detail-oriented, and thrive in ambiguous, high-ownership environments. We want someone who looks at a hard codebase and is excited to tactically and surgically work on improving the application in every interaction. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Design, build, and maintain features across the loan origination platform, ranging from application intake and decisioning logic through servicing and collections workflows. * Build and maintain internal operational tooling that empowers the Clasp Finance team to manage loans, configure programs, run reports, and respond to school and borrower needs with precision. * Participate in architecture decisions, code reviews, and technical design discussions that shape the long-term health of the platform. * Apply AI-assisted development techniques (code generation, test writing, refactoring, documentation) to asymmetrically scale your impact and ship higher-quality software faster. * Collaborate with compliance and legal to implement regulatory requirements (TILA, ECOA, fair lending, state licensing) as first-class engineering constraints — not afterthoughts. * Develop and instrument data pipelines alongside the data team that power credit modeling, compliance reporting, and school-facing portfolio analytics — treating data accuracy as non-negotiable. * Engage occasionally with school and university technical stakeholders to understand integration needs and build confidence in the platform's reliability. * Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, high standards, and direct, low-ego feedback. WHAT YOU'LL NEED * 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong fluency in Python and TypeScript/JavaScript. You write clean, maintainable code and understand the tradeoffs and appropriate use cases for each language. * Experience building operational and/or internal tooling for fintech, lending, or another regulated domain. * AI-native in your workflow where you are using coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, etc.) as a genuine force multiplier, not just for autocomplete or review. The goal here is not to just check the box but to be a leading member of the team who is genuinely excited about what AI can unlock for Engineering. * Familiarity with Django (or a comparable Python web framework) and React — enough to build full-stack features and understand the full request lifecycle. * Hands-on experience with cloud/serverless infrastructure (AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions, or equivalent) and modern deployment practices. * Strong written and verbal communicator to explain technical decisions to non-engineers and write documentation others actually want to engage with, not just AI fluff. * We are looking for someone who cares about building technology that expands access to education and economic mobility, and that shows in how you work and persevere through the challenges of this changing industry. NICE TO HAVE * Any prior exposure to fintech, payments, banking, or financial services — even adjacent experience counts. * Experience designing and building data pipelines, ETL workflows, or event-driven systems that need to be reliable, observable, and correct. * Familiarity with TILA, ECOA, or state lending regulations and their technical implications. * Prior experience working in a startup environment where you've worn multiple hats. * Experience integrating with loan servicers, payment processors, or financial data providers. WHAT WE GIVE IN RETURN * Competitive cash and equity compensation * Health benefits (health, dental, & vision) * Student loan repayment benefits * 401k matching * Commuter benefits * Flexible PTO policy * Opportunities to grow and perform in a fast-paced environment alongside a stellar team SALARY The salary range for this position is competitive and will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, and industry knowledge, ranging between $135,000 - $165,000 annually. In addition to the base salary, we offer an attractive equity component as part of our compensation package, providing an opportunity for eligible employees to share in the success and growth of our company. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and benefits packages to attract and retain top talent. CLOSING If you are a driven engineer with a passion for building systems that meaningfully serve the people who rely on them, we want to hear from you. Join us in reshaping how schools support their students and making a lasting impact on the future of higher education financing. Apply now to be part of our growing team! We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and talents. Clasp is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind. HEALTH CAN’T WAIT. Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six‑month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that’s exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can’t. Alan exists to end the wait. Health is a universal right, and we believe this right can only become real when it’s coupled with prevention. We need to stop treating health as something we repair and start treating it as something we build, every day. It’s not solely a question of willpower. It’s the healthcare system itself that needs to work for everyone, in a sustainable way. So we are building the new standard in prevention insurance. Alan is the first company that integrates insurance, prevention, and care into a single, acclaimed user experience. We are on an incredible journey to build a global leading company, with a unique culture. We already partner with 40K+ companies of all sizes, serving more than 1M+ members, and have reached €800M+ in ARR. Prevention as the new norm. That's what we're building with our team of 800+ people. If it speaks to you: we're hiring across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada. And beyond. 🤘 HOW WE DO IT ? People joining Alan are always surprised and delighted by our innovative working method. We have a set of cultural values that guide our approach to work, such as: 🎯 What drives us - We're obsessed with helping members live healthier * Mission is the Boss: long-term thinking, mission above all else * Member & customer-led: obsessed with solving problems and delighting users 🏆 How we build excellence - We hire the best and empower them to succeed * Champions of excellence: extremely high standards and talent density * Distributed ownership: everyone owns their decisions and results * Radically transparent: all information accessible, written-first, async decisions 🤝 How we grow together - We improve through honest feedback and bold thinking * Optimistic alchemy: optimists who collaborate with genuine care * Empathetic challengers: direct, caring feedback to help each other grow * Bold contrarians: think differently, try new approaches ⚡ How we move fast — We fight complexity and focus on what matters * Disciplined execution: decisive action with compounding focus * Fight for simplicity: high-impact processes, smart frugality ⭐ THE ENGINEERING TEAM ⭐ In our engineering team, we build the infrastructure, interfaces, and applications to provide first-class service to our members, health professionals, and even ourselves! Being an engineer at Alan means joining a team of talented, committed and passionate engineers, with a lot of product interaction. We move fast, with a lot of ownership, and are proud to tackle big problems! Our process is very simple: those who make product decisions are the same ones who build them. Our stack is Python/Flask, React, React Native, PostgreSQL. Want to know more? Read this article if you want to discover how life as an Engineer at Alan and this article on our Engineering career path. 🌐 ENABLING GLOBAL-FIRST PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT In Alan's early expansion, we made a strategic decision to create separate codebases for each country we ventured into. This approach allowed us to quickly adapt and tailor our applications to meet the unique healthcare and regulatory requirements of France, Belgium, Spain, and Canada. In 2024, we reached a crucial point where it was essential to merge these codebases into global, configurable modules. Yet, writing local code is still easier than building global solutions. The Global Architecture team is central to this transformation — our goal is to enable any team at Alan to develop and launch features seamlessly across markets, as outlined in our 2025 technical strategy. 🚀 Your mission * Design Cross-Cutting Modules You'll transform country-specific implementations into elegant global components that will become the new building blocks of other teams to build global features * Remove Technical Blockers for Product Teams You’ll tackle technical blockers that cut across several domains and eliminate the need for team-specific workarounds, allowing product teams to focus on their core business * Orchestrate Data Transformations You'll implement strategies to harmonize different countries' data models without losing local flexibility and consolidate existing data into unified schemas * Build and Own What You Create You'll be responsible for the entire lifecycle of your solutions, from initial design through long-term maintenance. We don't just design — we build, deploy, and maintain what we create 🌟 Why This Role Matters * Focus on High-Impact, Cross-Domain Solutions You work exclusively on blockers that span multiple business domains that are heavily depended upon. This means every solution you build has an impact across multiple teams * Enable Teams, Don't Replace Them Your job isn't to substitute other teams or globalize everything. Instead, you'll work on technical obstacles that prevent teams from building global-first solutions and work with them to remove those obstacles * Learn and Share Globalization Patterns As you design and implement global solutions, you'll develop an expertise in globalization patterns. You'll share these learnings with other teams, helping them make better decisions about global vs. local solutions in their own work 🚀 What we're looking for * You write code and maintain what you build. At Alan there is no architect in an ivory tower, we implement what we design * You’re able to navigate complex systems spanning multiple business domains and technical boundaries * You've worked with diverse architectural patterns and can articulate the nuanced trade-offs between them * You can spot technical obstacles that are blocking multiple teams and design solutions that remove those obstacles ⭐ IS IT YOU WE’RE LOOKING FOR? We are looking for problem-solver engineers with 5+ years of experience who get excited about simplifying complex business problems: * You’ll be able to tackle high-impact & high-risk projects involving many engineers. * You’ll design efficient systems and engineering practices to align with and facilitate interactions between multiple teams/products. * You’ll have the opportunity to mentor other engineers & lead crews (more details in this article). * You’ll be able to contribute to hiring your future coworkers and shape candidates’ hiring experience (improving our technical assessment process etc...) You would be a good fit at Alan if most of this sounds like you: * Well-versed in Object Oriented Programming such as Python, Java, C#, and enthusiastic about web technologies such as modern Javascript. * Willing to work in Python/JavaScript (but you don’t need to have experience with those 2 languages!). * Passionate about building products. * Self-starting and entrepreneurial. * Humble and still willing to grow (no matter your seniority!). * Collaborative, enthusiastic about teamwork, learning, and teaching. * Fluent in English (no need to speak French!). For this opportunity, we are aiming to hire within the D-F level range. But above all, we are looking for high potential and curiosity: make sure to show us this when you apply! Everything else is a bonus. 🙌 PERKS & BENEFITS At Alan, we believe that being in good health is a basic need, and it starts with our employees. This is why Alaners are provided with a stimulating environment and perks ensuring they are happy, efficient and spend only high-quality time with co-workers. Therefore, we offer: * Fair rewards. Generous equity packages complement your base salary. * Flexible Office. Amazing office space at our HQ, sponsored co-working hubs or a full-remote experience with home office equipment sponsorship, we want you to live where you’re the happiest. * All the tools you need. Top of the range equipment: Macbook Pro, keyboard, laptop stand, monitor, and noise-canceling headphones. * Flexible vacation policy and flexible working hours. Organize your time as you wish. * Delightful healthcare insurance: Extremely comprehensive health insurance - 100% for you and your children, 90-100% for partners depending on your country (permanent contracts only). * Transport.
