ABOUT THE JOB Validate the ML stack that turns accelerator hardware into trusted AI performance. This role sits where modern ML models meet Graphcore’s software and hardware stack. You will test, benchmark and validate complex systems before they reach customers. Your work will expose regressions, correctness issues and performance limits across frameworks, models and execution environments. You will help teams understand what is working, what is breaking and why. You will run open source models, build automated benchmarking pipelines and create targeted tests for low level ML behaviour. That includes numerical precision, quantisation, attention mechanisms, distributed execution and model subgraphs. This is a role for someone who wants to stay close to how AI systems really work. You will not design new models, but you will make them run reliably on ambitious infrastructure. THE TEAM AND CULTURE The ML QA team is where Graphcore’s ML software stack comes together for validation. Work spans unit tests, full model benchmarks, distributed workloads, simulators, emulators and hardware targets. Engineers are expected to take ownership, question assumptions and improve how testing is done. The team moves quickly, but decisions are grounded in evidence, benchmark data and technical discussion. You will work closely with software, infrastructure and hardware teams. Squads organise around priorities, with space for engineers to shape roadmaps and raise the quality bar. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR · Strong experience in Machine Learning or ML-adjacent software engineering roles. · A solid grasp of neural networks, training, inference, numerical precision and performance trade-offs. · Hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, Triton or similar ML frameworks and tools. · Strong Python skills for automation, experimentation, benchmarking and reporting. · Experience designing, running and analysing ML benchmarks or model experiments. · Confident debugging skills in Linux, with curiosity about model behaviour and system performance. As technology continues to evolve, you'll remain curious and committed to continuous learning; embracing new Appian capabilities and identifying opportunities to improve delivery through automation, reusable components and emerging AI capabilities.   Must have Qualifications: * Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale Appian solutions within complex client * Strong experience developing Appian applications using Records, Record Types, Relationships, SAIL Interfaces, Process Models, Sites, Reports and CDTs, with the ability to manage a single application through its full lifecycle. * Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, data modelling and enterprise data structures. * Comfortable working day-to-day within blended teams of client staff and third-party vendors, building good working relationships and adapting to the client's tools, processes and team culture. * Experience designing and implementing integrations using Connected Systems, Web APIs and external services, including REST and SOAP-based integration patterns, exercising sound judgement on when to use built-in objects, expressions, rules and plug-ins versus custom development. * Experience identifying performance bottlenecks, applying caching strategies, and using the Appian Health Check report and process monitoring tab to maintain production stability within an application. * Experience implementing Appian's security model and managing Appian deployments, release pipelines, and troubleshooting production issues within a single application or workstream. * Experience producing technical design documentation, unit testing and delivering high-quality solutions against defined acceptance criteria. * Strong understanding of Appian development best practices and enterprise application design principles. * Experience working within Agile Scrum delivery teams, including sprint planning, refinement, estimation and demonstrations. * Excellent communication skills with experience working directly with business stakeholders, Product Owners and technical teams. * A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous learning and emerging Appian capabilities. The team works closely with industry-standard machine learning frameworks and models, contributing to upstream open-source projects and collaborating across the wider software organization.  Operating in a fast-paced environment, the team plays a critical role in ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability across the ML software stack, helping to deliver robust and high-quality products to customers.  RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES * Design, implement, and maintain robust test infrastructure and automation for a complex ML software stack. * Architect and evolve test frameworks and tooling with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and developer experience. * Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines targeting simulators, emulators (e.g. QEMU), and physical hardware. * Create representative ML workloads and gain insights from their execution.
