LotusWorks is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, integral to our people-first approach.  As an Electrical Commissioning Technician, you will support the commissioning and start-up of electrical systems within semiconductor and mission-critical environments. This role is responsible for executing commissioning activities, validating system performance, and ensuring electrical infrastructure is installed and operating in accordance with project requirements, codes, and industry standards. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform commissioning and start-up of electrical infrastructure and utility systems * Support commissioning of transformers, protective relays, grounding systems, and medium-voltage distribution systems * Develop, review, and execute commissioning plans, procedures, and test scripts * Coordinate commissioning activities with engineers, contractors, utilities, and AHJs * Conduct inspections, functional testing, and integrated system testing to validate system readiness * Identify deficiencies, track issues, and verify corrective actions through project closeout * Ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, IEEE, NETA, OSHA) * Support system energization, start-up, and turnover activities while maintaining strict safety standards * Maintain detailed commissioning documentation, reports, and records * Provide onsite technical support and collaborate with field teams * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role SKILLS REQUIRED: * 3–5 years of commissioning experience, preferably within semiconductor or mission-critical environments * Strong understanding of electrical systems including transformers, relays, grounding, and power distribution * Experience executing commissioning procedures and interpreting technical documentation * Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, IEEE, NETA, OSHA) * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in field environments * Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team * Effective communication and documentation skills EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: * Journeyman Electrician License or Electrical Engineering Degree strongly preferred * Relevant industry experience will be strongly considered * Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable BENEFITS: * Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance  * Life, Short-Term, Long-Term Disability Insurance  * Training and Education Assistance  * 401k Retirement Plan  * Extra Annual Leave with Years of Service  * Maternity/Paternity Leave  * Recognition Rewards #LI-DNP #INDHP LotusWorks is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind. The position works closely with owners, construction teams, commissioning agents, engineers, and trade partners to ensure electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. The individual will provide technical leadership to drive commissioning readiness, quality compliance, and successful project delivery. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Lead electrical commissioning activities across all project phases, from design review through startup, functional testing, integrated systems testing, and final handover. * Review Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, electrical specifications, one-line diagrams, shop drawings, and sequences of operation to support commissioning readiness. * Develop and execute electrical commissioning plans, procedures, pre-functional checklists, functional test scripts, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) procedures. * Coordinate commissioning activities with owners, construction management teams, engineering, subcontractors, OEMs, and commissioning stakeholders. * Lead installation verification and QA/QC walkdowns to confirm systems are installed in accordance with project specifications and approved drawings. * Perform quality inspections of switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, RPPs, busway, MCCs, panelboards, protective relays, grounding systems, and associated electrical infrastructure. * Witness and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), pre-functional inspections, energization activities, functional performance testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST). * Verify electrical installations including cable routing, terminations, torque verification, insulation resistance testing, grounding continuity, labeling, and asset tagging. * Validate breaker settings, protective relay coordination, alarms, interlocks, failover sequences, control logic, and system integration prior to turnover. * Support electrical startup, energization planning, switching activities, load bank testing, and system restoration while maintaining strict adherence to safety requirements. * Identify, document, and drive resolution of commissioning deficiencies, punch list items, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) through final closeout. * Verify corrective actions and conduct re-inspections to ensure compliance with project quality requirements. * Maintain commissioning documentation including inspection reports, test records, issue logs, turnover packages, and final commissioning reports. * Utilize commissioning management platforms and document control systems to monitor system readiness, testing progress, and KPI performance. * Ensure compliance with project specifications, NFPA, NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, NETA, owner standards, and applicable Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. * Lead commissioning coordination meetings and provide regular updates on system readiness, commissioning progress, quality metrics, risks, and schedule impacts. * Support owner acceptance, turnover documentation, and training activities for facility operations teams. * Mentor commissioning engineers and technicians while promoting commissioning best practices and continuous improvement. * Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with LOTO procedures, energized electrical work practices, and site EH&S requirements. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Strong knowledge of electrical commissioning processes within mission-critical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or industrial facilities. * Experience commissioning medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems including switchgear, UPS systems, generators, transformers, MCCs, PDUs, RPPs, and protective relays. * Strong understanding of QA/QC principles, inspection processes, and electrical construction quality standards. * Experience leading FAT, SAT, pre-functional inspections, functional testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST). * Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams, control schematics, IFC drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation. * Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, NETA, and industry commissioning standards. * Experience with commissioning software platforms, issue tracking systems, and document control applications. * Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills. * Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple commissioning activities simultaneously. * Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred. * Journeyman Electrician certification preferred  * OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred. * NETA certification preferred. * NFPA 70E Electrical Safety training preferred. * Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. This job is based in a state-of-the-art global facility in Maiden, North Carolina. The Electrical Commissioning Engineer will be accountable for the commissioning of the following electrical systems: Medium Voltage Switchgear, Substations, Emergency Power Systems, UPS Systems, LV Distribution, Emergency Lighting, Grounding System, Power Monitoring, and implementation of breaker settings per project site coordination study. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Participate in and support commissioning activities throughout all Commissioning Levels 1–5 of the project scope. * Support the development and execution of commissioning schedules aligned with project milestones and the critical path. * Attend and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). * Review specialist vendor installations, testing procedures, and integration with site power systems. * Report quality and testing issues accurately and clearly. * Prepare commissioning documentation and daily progress reports for the Commissioning Project Manager. * Coordinate testing activities with the site commissioning team. * Execute electrical system walk-downs and verify installations against drawings, P&IDs, specifications, submittals, applicable codes, and project requirements. Document deficiencies and support punch list generation and corrective actions. * Prepare and execute startup checks, ensuring startup documentation is completed and signed off. * Participate in Functional Performance Testing (FPT) to verify the operation and integration of electrical systems in accordance with design intent. * Verify electrical equipment is installed correctly, complies with design documents and owner quality standards, and operates in accordance with the intended sequence of operation. * Review thermal infrared (IR) scan reports. * Attend construction and commissioning meetings as required. * Any other duties assigned to you in your role.  SKILLS REQUIRED: * Minimum 3 years of electrical commissioning experience in data center, mission-critical, or industrial environments. * Knowledge of Data Center Commissioning Levels 1–5. * Data center experience strongly preferred. * Excellent knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical systems in mission-critical facilities, NFPA 70E, and OSHA guidelines surrounding safe construction practices. * Experience commissioning the following equipment and systems: * High, Medium, and Low Voltage Power Distribution * Substations and Switchgear * Transformers * Bus Duct and Grounding Installations * Power Monitoring Systems * Emergency Power Systems * Ability to work proactively as a member of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in mobile technology and commissioning software applications. * Ability to work collaboratively with Owners, Architects, Engineers, Trade Partners, and field personnel. * Experience organizing technical documentation in a neat and accurate manner. * Ability to work closely with trade and craft personnel in a field environment while maintaining patience, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude under pressure. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate multiple work activities simultaneously. * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: * The successful candidate shall have time served electrical journeyman/foreman or diploma or degree in electrical engineering plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience. * Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
