Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.   Senior Software Engineer, Bank Payments Team The North American Bank Payments team is dedicated to driving innovation and development within the region's core banking rails. We focus on high-volume payment methods like ACH (the second-largest bank payment method by total volume, processing billions in payments) and EFT Pre-Authorized Debits (PADs) for Canada. The team is currently executing a major strategic transition of merchants to a new acquirer under Adyen's U.S. Bank license to unlock new features. We also manage cutting-edge Pay by Bank solutions, utilizing Open Banking features via partners like Plaid for secure data sharing and direct debit initiation.   What you’ll do * Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices.  * Collaborate across teams and time zones to get projects over the finish line. * Lead complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing and launch into production. * Be hands on and contribute to the implementation, but at the same time offer technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers. * Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable. * Your code will be used at scale and you are expected to think in that mindset when building features. * We launch fast and iterate often. Concretely, this means that within your first few weeks, you will bring live functionalities that impact many merchants and shoppers.   Who you are * You have at least 8 years of professional experience as an engineer and are currently working as a Senior Software Engineer or at a similar level * You have great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in front of different stakeholders * You are flexible, a team player, someone with an eye for detail * Familiar with complex large scale distributed systems * Open to some domestic and international travel   Required technical qualifications * Demonstrated knowledge of building Java based web services (RESTful, SOAP) * Experienced in designing performant database models in PostgreSQL or other relational databases * Knowledgeable of various software architecture paradigms such as event-driven or message queueing systems   The annual base salary range for this role is $180,000 - $243,000; to learn more about our compensation philosophy, please click here.   Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. WHO YOU ARE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related field followed by 3 years of experience in Software Engineering.   POSITION ALSO REQUIRES EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING: * 3 years of experience with typed (Java, C++ or Scala) or untyped programming languages (Javascript, Ruby, Python); * 2 years of experience with building end-to-end software solutions for fraud, compliance, and/or onboarding in the banking-as-a-service space; * 2 years of experience with Database experience (MySQL/Postgres or MongoDB); and * 5 months of experience with Web application development (AWS/Heroku/Google Cloud/Self Hosted). Salary: $190,400.00 - $285,600.00/yr.   This salary range represents the base salary range for the role and any sales commissions/sales bonuses targets, if applicable, would be in addition to the base salary. 40 hrs/week Up to 50% telework permitted.
