PLATFORM DATABASE ENGINEER Location: Colombia – Remote ABOUT THE ROLE The Platform Database Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, administering, and optimizing MongoDB (Atlas and on‑premise) within a large-scale, cloud-based enterprise ecosystem. This role blends deep database engineering expertise with SRE principles to ensure performance, reliability, scalability, and automation across mission‑critical data platforms. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT YOU WILL DO * Architect, implement, and maintain MongoDB Atlas and non‑Atlas environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. * Design and enforce resiliency and disaster recovery strategies, including backup, restore, and multi‑region failover. * Optimize database performance and query execution to support application development teams throughout all SDLC phases. * Develop and manage infrastructure‑as‑code solutions (Terraform, GitOps) for database provisioning and automation. * Implement and refine observability and monitoring solutions using Dynatrace, CloudWatch, and MongoDB native telemetry. * Manage access control, auditing, and encryption to meet enterprise security and compliance requirements. * Collaborate closely with application, DevOps, and platform teams to continuously improve reliability, performance, and operational excellence. * Lead incident response for database‑related issues, drive root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventative measures. * Mentor and guide technical teams, contributing to documentation, standards, and design reviews. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * 4+ years of experience as a MongoDB DBA, including 4+ years administering MongoDB Atlas. * Strong experience with the AWS ecosystem (EC2, EKS, CloudWatch, IAM, KMS, VPC, Lambda). * Proficiency in Terraform, GitOps, CI/CD automation, and containerized workloads (EKS/Kubernetes). * Experience with Dynatrace, Prometheus, or equivalent observability platforms. * Strong Linux administration expertise and scripting skills (Python, Bash). * Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills. * Ability to participate in on‑call rotation and incident response. * Travel requirement: <10%. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with Kafka, CDC, and enterprise data integration platforms. * Familiarity with GitOps practices and infrastructure observability at enterprise scale.

Responsibilities: Write, optimize and troubleshoot complex SQL queries and database operations. Contribute to database design, schema evolution and modernization of legacy database structures while working closely with developers to improve data models, application queries and overall database performance. Support large-scale data migrations, B2B integrations and live production changes with accuracy and attention to detail. Help maintain and improve real-time data pipelines and integrations between operational databases and analytics platforms. Collaborate openly across development, DevOps and Data teams while contributing to documentation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives. Support and maintain MySQL, MongoDB and related systems across development and production environments. Participate in performance tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring and operational improvements. Automate recurring operational and development-related tasks. Support deployments, releases, access management, change processes and incident handling. Continuously learn and contribute to modern database engineering and data platform practices. About you: Essentials: 2–5 years of experience working with MySQL and/or MongoDB. Exposure to cloud platforms (BigQuery, AWS, GCP). Strong database development skills with confidence writing, optimizing and troubleshooting complex SQL queries. Good understanding of database design principles, schema evolution and performance optimization. Strong interest in databases, data engineering and modern data platforms. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work closely across development, BI/Data Warehouse and DevOps teams. Strong aptitude to learn, grow and take ownership in a hands-on engineering environment. Comfortable working with live production systems and operational environments. Experience with scripting or automation using Python, Bash or similar tools. Proactive, communicative and solution-oriented mindset. Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
