Your Graduate Scheme (Software Engineering Route) * There will be opportunities to work on projects ranging from our core, market-leading product to new products and markets that we're just getting off the ground * You'll also have chances to work cross-functionally with our data science, risk, compliance, underwriting and product teams * You'll start shipping code from week one, and learn by doing * You will rotate through various backend-focused teams and might be contributing by * Implementing business logic for our core business (Abound) and new products * Create internal and customer facing endpoints with FastAPI to integrate with our frontends and external clients * Integrate with external APIs to improve our credit-decisioning and payment processing * Working with Postgres or MySql databases to handle customer data safely and efficiently * Product Development: participate in rapid feature development cycles for new products, and see the direct customer and commercial impacts of your work * Mentorship Program: pair with senior engineers and rotate through different teams * Bi-annual technical reviews and career progression planning * Real Impact: See your code go live and directly affect lending decisions for thousands of customers who struggle with traditional banking. INTRODUCTION    We’re seeking bright, curious graduates who are passionate about software and excited by how technology can solve real problems. Join our Software and Electronics Department and contribute to projects spanning the consumer, energy, industrial, and defence & security sectors.  You’ll get hands-on experience with a range of technologies aligned to your skills and interests, helping to tackle and solve real challenges for our clients. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.     WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING   Day to day you will be working in a team with colleagues and clients, learning from experienced engineers to design, develop and debug software of all descriptions. Your IMC journey as a Graduate Software Engineer will begin with a five-week Global Trainee Programme led by our seasoned engineers and traders alongside graduates from all three IMC regions: Europe, the United States, and Asia-Pacific. During this traineeship, you’ll deepen your knowledge about trading and financial markets, understand the tools and systems used at IMC, and learn how to write production software, craftsmanship and advanced topics in C++, Java or Python. Your training will continue back at your local office, where you’ll receive support from your dedicated mentor, an experienced software engineer at IMC. What happens next is up to you – on our Execution teams you might build anything from advanced networks to proprietary algorithms, while on our Strategy teams you could design systems powering big data and cutting-edge analytics.   YOUR CORE RESPONSIBILITIES * Develop cutting-edge technology in advanced algorithms * Support the development of our trading platform and software stack * Gain experience across the entire software development lifecycle * Collaborate with traders, quant researchers, and hardware engineers to improve our systems   YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES * In your ultimate year of study in computer science, software engineering, or a related field graduating, and are seeking to join IMC full-time in February or August 2026 * Proficiency in C++ or Java is required.
