About the role
As a Quality Assurance Supervisor (QAS), you are responsible for safeguarding quality, fish welfare, and compliance across our innovative fish production operations. You oversee processes related to fish health, biosecurity, and quality control throughout the entire production cycle – from hatchery to processing.
You play both a strategic and hands-on role, working closely with the Production, Hatchery, and Processing teams. Your goal is to continuously improve processes while ensuring the highest quality standards are consistently met.
What will you do?
Fish Health & Compliance
Ensure compliance with veterinary and fish health standards
Lead and coordinate internal and external audits
Initiate and follow up on improvement actions (RCA-CAPA)
Implement and maintain compliance-related processes
Quality Control
Perform daily quality checks (farm & processing)
Execute the microbiological monitoring program
Analyse results and initiate improvements
Manage specifications and maintain the Quality Management
Fish Welfare
Conduct welfare assessments and inspections
Monitor fish behaviour, stocking density, and handling practices
Identify and escalate abnormalities
Promote a proactive fish welfare culture
Biosecurity
Support development and improvement of biosecurity programs
Verify compliance with biosecurity protocols
Conduct inspections and support audit readiness
Assist in risk and incident management
Water Quality
Monitor and analyse water quality data
Identify trends and deviations
Support root cause analyses
Collaborate with production and engineering teams
Farm Quality Monitoring
Perform inspections and audits
Monitor KPIs such as growth, health, and mortality

Description Position at Pilgrim's Quality Assurance Supervisor At Pilgrim’s, Safety Is A Condition, which means the safety of our team members comes first - always. This position is responsible for supervision of Food Safety and Quality (FSQA) personnel, and quality programs, including the planning and implementation of the quality management program on the assigned shift. The QA Supervisor oversees the team in implementation and daily execution of product specification testing, food safety and quality procedures. Responsibilities: Lead FSQA team activities, ensuring proper implementation of food safety and quality programs like HACCP and SSOP. Promote safety and compliance, coordinating training (e.g., LOTO) and reporting unsafe acts to prevent incidents. Recommend and communicate quality procedures, providing both classroom and hands-on training to staff. Collaborate with operations and USDA personnel, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring regulatory compliance. Support issue resolution through root cause analysis and ensure customer quality programs are followed. Manage hourly QA technicians, including scheduling and timekeeping using Kronos, and complete tasks assigned by QA leadership. Other duties as assigned What You’ll Need: Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Associate degree preferred; or 3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and training. Certifications: GFSI (BRC specifically) training preferred. Experience: Supervisory experience required, preferably in poultry processing or slaughter operations. Must have an understanding of USDA and OSHA regulations. Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a plus. Strong communication and leadership skills, both written and verbal. Quick learner of customer quality programs and adaptable to change. Solid math and analytical abilities for problem-solving and decision-making. Reliable and ethical, with a strong work ethic and punctuality. Team-oriented and self-motivated, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Description Working closely with the QA Supervisor, the QA Specialist – Batch Review will be instrumental in supporting major QA programs. They will also be key in championing and developing the organization’s Quality Mindset, and culture of efficiency, attention to detail, and on-time delivery. The QA Specialist – Batch Review will at all times provide support with identifying and closing Operational and Quality gaps. The Quality Assurance Specialist – Batch Review will exemplify excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of developing productive, customer-centric working relationships with colleagues, internal customers, and external partners and clients. Essential Job Functions: Full lifecycle review and disposition of parenteral manufacturing Batch Records (Formulation, Filling, Inspection, & Packaging) for Media Fills and Drug Product. Provide Client access and support in the review and approval of Batch Records. Provide training to all QA Associates and Specialists on surveillance oversight and on-the-floor Batch Record review requirements. Support Quality Systems with driving timely completion of batch impacting deviations to support on time batch release activities. Create and report batch release metrics to site leadership. Participate in operations investigations for determining root cause and assessing mitigation for Major and Critical deviating events. Support authoring, reviewing and approving of various SOPs & Work Instructions. Support Plant Automation alarm reviews. Advise and approve the builds of Batch Record BOMs and ECOs. Prioritize and coordinate their time in balancing production timelines with product quality assurances. Exercise rapid decision-making in the preliminary evaluation of the scope and impact of deviating events, requirements for product segregation, and the implementation of initial corrective actions or escalate the issue to Manager for resolution. Provide support as needed in a cross-functional capacity on deviation investigative processes using root cause analysis tools, report writing, and mitigation development using risk analysis tools. Utilize various paper and automated systems (eDMS, SCADA, BMS, CMMS, LIMS, lab instrument software, etc.) to ensure data integrity for site policies, procedures, and batch records. Use technical skills and applied statistics to analyze and track deviations and to identify sources of variability and error site processes. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Exemplify and take proactive approaches in terms of safety expectations, practice positive intervention, and enforce best practices that align to SOPs, compliance requirements, quality guidelines, and site goals. Special Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent; degree preferred to be in a related Science (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology etc.). 4 years minimum experience working in a GMP environment. 2 years minimum experience working with aseptic processing in cleanroom and/or isolator environments required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. General computer skills evidenced by hands-on work with computerized Operations equipment (SCADA); and reporting and data analysis software (Word, Excel, Visio, JMP, Minitab, etc.). Additional Preferences: 3 years experience as performer or reviewer in Quality Management Systems, DMS, Deviation/CAPA, and Change Control required. 2 years’ experience with assessment and review of Quality Control testing, CoA, and results management preferred. Extensive knowledge of regulations and quality processes involving product disposition.
