3D ENVIRONMENT ARTIST (VOXEL GAMES) We’re a profitable video games company with 15 million monthly players, and we’re hiring a 3D Environment Artist to join our 12-person founding team. About us We’re growing Bloxd, a multiplayer gaming platform where anyone can play, build, and share editable worlds. Through superfun games and playful visuals, Bloxd is already inspiring a new generation of players around the world with the endless possibilities of voxel gaming. Play our games at bloxd.io. Our tech Bloxd is built around voxel worlds, player creativity, and familiar block-based workflows. We support existing voxel-based tools and formats such as .schem, and we’re continuing to develop our own in-game creative toolset to let players edit worlds at scale, as well as import and export regions of blocks as .bloxdschem files. The job We’re looking for an environment artist to shape the future of voxel worlds: playful, readable, expressive, and full of personality. You’ll collaborate with game developers to design and create environments, maps, 2D sprites and 3D models that delight our players and broaden Bloxd’s appeal. The role will involve both visual world-building and level design, with plenty of opportunity to shape how spaces feel, flow, and play. This role is especially well-suited to someone with experience making maps, designing levels and creating assets for block-based voxel sandboxes. We care more about strong composition, readability, gameplay feel, and creative world-building than high-fidelity 3D production. About you * You enjoy designing 3D environments for sandbox or voxel games, with a focus on playability, clarity, and fun. * You’re excited by the prospect of working across a diverse set of projects. * You think about how players move through, understand, and interact with a space. * You’re comfortable sharing ideas early, iterating, and improving work based on player feedback. * You enjoy collaborating with developers, designers, and other creatives to make game worlds feel better. Things you could work on in your first two months * Play a lot of Bloxd to build knowledge of our games, players, and community. * Collaborate with developers to design, build, and iterate on new mini-games. * Build readable, expressive voxel environments for our flagship games. * Work on level design for maps and game modes, focusing on flow, pacing, player routes, and gameplay clarity. * Create textures, models and assets for new sandbox features, such as blocks, mobs, weapons, tools, vehicles, and more. Benefits * Budget for your preferred setup, such as a drawing tablet, software licences, or other tools * Healthcare * 5% pension match on qualifying earnings * A permanent desk in our King’s Cross office * 25 days holiday + bank holidays * Competitive salary + stock options
WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED ENGINE PROGRAMMER TO JOIN ONE OF OUR INTERNAL ENGINE TEAMS, WHICH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CORE RUNTIME AND PLATFORM LAYER OF SUPERCELL’S IN-HOUSE GAME ENGINE. THE ENGINE TEAMS ARE INDEPENDENT TEAMS THAT MAINTAIN OUR INTERNAL TECH STACK AND WORK SEAMLESSLY WITH OUR GAME TEAMS TO REVOLUTIONIZE THE WAY WE DEVELOP GAMES AT SUPERCELL. You will be focused primarily on our multi-platform C++ game engine. You will be expected to iterate and integrate improvements to the engine and its subsystems while working alongside coders, designers and artists from game teams, as well as other core technical teams. We’re looking for someone like you, who ideally has years of experience, and knowledge acquired from the gaming industry. Whether you have broad experience in proprietary game engines or are a specialist in one area – we want to hear from you. To be successful in this role, you will need to be a proactive programmer who works directly with game teams to deliver world-class mobile games. If this sounds like you and you're interested in finding out if Supercell would be a great fit for you – hit that apply button. Read about the engine behind every Supercell game (and why you’ve never heard of it). WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING * Develop, maintain, and improve core engine systems used across all our games. * Design and evolve platform abstractions for iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS. * Work on runtime systems such as memory management, threading/job systems, asset loading, and performance-critical infrastructure. * Collaborate closely with game teams to identify bottlenecks and improve iteration speed, stability, and usability. * Improve developer workflows and tooling to make our engine a compelling alternative to off-the-shelf solutions. * Continuously modernize a large, long-lived codebase while supporting live games in production. * Work across team boundaries, ensuring clean integrations between core systems, rendering, and gameplay layers. WHAT YOU HAVE * Experience with in-house or proprietary game engines. * Strong professional experience with C++ in production environments. * Experience working with large, existing codebases, and the ability to improve them incrementally. * Solid understanding of core engine systems (e.g. memory, threading, asset management, runtime architecture). * Experience designing or working with cross-platform systems, especially for mobile (iOS/Android) and desktop (Windows/macOS). * Understanding of mobile performance characteristics (CPU, memory, threading, and platform constraints). * Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members. * Pragmatic problem-solving mindset and a focus on delivering real-world impact. * A self-starter approach to use AI: you've found ways to use it in your day-to-day work, you experiment, figure things out and bring the same energy to every new challenge. WOULD BE ALSO NICE IF YOU HAVE * Familiarity with build systems and tooling (e.g. CMake, Gradle, Python, CI pipelines). * Experience improving developer workflows, iteration times, or debugging tools. * Experience with UI/tooling frameworks such as ImGui. * Experience in game server development and Java. * Experience from game console platforms. WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Our engine has been developed over many years and powers multiple live games at global scale. We are actively evolving it to better support current and future titles. Success in this role means: * Making the engine more stable, faster, and easier to use. * Helping game teams ship and operate live games more effectively. * Contributing to a long-term effort to build world-class internal technology. WHERE YOU'LL BE The team is based in Helsinki, which is the preferred location for this role. ––– That's it about the role! Below, we've gathered some things we feel are important for you to know.
