Responsibilities: * Expert Leadership: Act as the go-to authority for report writing, site plan design, drainage, grading, and comprehensive due diligence/site analysis reports. * Technical Excellence: Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to review and complete assignments efficiently, adhering to Atwell's high standards. * Mentorship: Guide and support junior staff with technical queries related to Land Development projects, fostering their professional growth. * Quality Assurance: Oversee QA/QC processes to ensure all project deliverables meet rigorous quality and engineering standards. * Compliance & Review: Review and seal project documents to ensure full compliance with engineering standards. Analyze project survey data and site conditions, including legal descriptions, ALTA Surveys, and easement documents. * Adaptability: Make necessary edits and modifications to plans as required by agencies, municipalities, and clients. * Effective Communication: Coordinate with Project Managers and Team Leaders to track workflow status and meet chargeability goals. * Financial Contribution: Support the team in achieving financial objectives and project success. Qualifications: * Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. * Professional Certification: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) * Industry Expertise:8+ years of experience in Residential and Commercial Land Development including design, project management, business development and invoicing. This position involves frequent contact with government clients to assist with the day-to-day engineering operations of local agencies. Accountability and Duties: * Performs professional engineering and design work for government clients. * Prepares reports, plans, specifications, construction schedules and permits for transportation, water/wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. * Obtains and evaluates pertinent field data for proposed construction projects. * Prepares engineer’s opinion of probable cost and engineering design calculations. * Assists with development plan reviews for compliance with local ordinances. * Maintains a good relationship with clients. * Prepares permit applications for capital projects. * Assists in preparation of proposals for engineering services. * Mentors and assists with training Staff Engineers. * Delegates specific project assignments to Staff Engineers. * Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. * Shares responsibility for project schedules and timely completion of projects. * Participates in business development activities. * Professionally represents the firm at client meetings/hearings. * Assists with the preparation and monitoring of project budgets, billing and A/R. * Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein. Technical tasks include but not limited to conceptual site layout, utility design; roadway design; site grading design; storm drain design; storm water management design; water and sanitary sewer main design; soil erosion and sedimentation control design; floodplain studies; permitting and entitlement support; and construction support (2026 start). Accountability and Duties * Designs site plans utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D. * Prepares conceptual grading analyses and site layout. * Prepares and computes, but not limited to due diligence/site analysis reports, engineer opinion of probable costs, utility computations, detention/retention computations, storm water reports, earthwork analysis. * Assists in production of final construction drawings. * Prepares permit applications for applicable municipal agencies. * Assists project managers as requested. * Assists with client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects. * Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. * Attends client and public meetings- days or evenings. * Participates in business development efforts as requested. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Outstanding Interpersonal skills, ability to interact with a variety of people. * Adaptable and able to respond quickly and accurately under pressure. * Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. * Must be fluent in the English language. * Available to work nights and weekends to complete projects as necessary. * Proficient in MS office. AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus. * Must have a valid drivers license. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university. * 2+ years of experience.
