We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our London, UK - Hybrid (3 days from the office) team. In this role, you’ll help us define technical solutions for critical business problems and lead the technical direction for complex, high-scale systems. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING You’ll be joining a high-impact engineering group focused on solving unstructured and ambiguous challenges. You will act as a technical authority, aligning non-adjacent teams to deliver results that move the needle for the entire organisation. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like: * Drive Technical Excellence: Act as a subject matter expert, providing high-level reviews and technical advice across multiple teams. * Architect Scalable Solutions: Define and design technical solutions for complex business problems within a high-traffic environment (20krpm+). * Lead Strategic Direction: Influence the long-term technical roadmap and manage project timelines, risks, and sustainable delivery paces. * Mentor & Coach: Support the growth of engineers across all levels and partner with up-and-coming leaders to scale our engineering culture. * Shape the Team: Lead engineering interviews and contribute to recruiting strategy to ensure we maintain a high bar for talent. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others: * Deep Technical Mastery: Significant experience building web-based applications at scale and a pride in writing readable, well-tested software. * Polyglot Mindset: Proficiency in (or a strong desire to learn) languages such as Go, Ruby, Python, Scala, or Rust. * Distributed Systems Expertise: Practical experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL backends (Redis, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch). * High-Scale Architecture: Proven ability to design and operate systems handling massive request volumes and complex logistical workflows. * Strategic Leadership: Strong understanding of how to align multiple disciplines and teams to resolve ambiguous technical challenges. We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer to join our London team. In this role, you will lead the design strategy for critical product areas, influencing the long-term vision of our platform and driving architectural improvements that ripple across the entire Deliveroo ecosystem. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING You’ll be joining the Studio team. While your primary focus will be dedicated to the Deliveroo product, you will be part of a global design community that includes talented designers from Deliveroo, Wolt, and DoorDash. At the Staff level, you will play a pivotal role in this community, mentoring senior talent, cross-pollinating best practices, and setting the standard for design excellence globally. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like: * Define the product design strategy for high-level, ambiguous business challenges, ensuring alignment between user needs and long-term commercial goals. * Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to drive architectural decisions and platform-wide design standards. * Champion a culture of design excellence by mentoring senior designers and fostering high-quality craft across the organisation. * Identify and tackle systemic design opportunities that improve performance, accessibility, and user satisfaction at scale. * Act as a bridge between functions, using your influence to align cross-functional teams around a unified product vision. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE * Extensive experience leading complex design initiatives from conception to launch within large-scale, high-growth environments. * Proven ability to define and drive design strategy, successfully managing multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. * Demonstrated track record of mentoring designers and elevating the quality of work within high-performing teams. * Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex design visions and influence senior leadership. * Deep technical fluency and a strategic understanding of how design influences engineering constraints and product outcomes. In this role, you’ll drive key pillars of our global strategy, leading initiatives to drive growth for our merchant and brand advertiser audiences. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING You’ll be joining a high-velocity team working on DoorDash International’s most critical growth levers. You will collaborate with Engineering, Data Science, and global GTM teams to build a unified retail media platform that serves our three-sided marketplace. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like: * Set the overall strategy for the next set of growth products that we’ll build for our global audience of merchants and brands. * Optimizing ad supply and relevance through improved ranking algorithms and inventory designs. * Building a path towards a global technology stack, so product innovations reach all markets instantly. * Running experiments to gather data, understand customer outcomes, and measure the impact of your bets. * Talking with customers to understand their needs and plan the next series of strategic investments we’ll make to drive their success WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others: * Proven experience as a Product Manager with experience from the B2B/B2C and/or Adtech and Martech space - you know what it takes to develop great products * Significant experience being data-savvy and analytical; you can grasp technical concepts quickly and partner effectively with Machine Learning and Operations Research specialists. * A systems-thinking mindset, with the ability to balance customer needs with commercial goals while considering second and third-order effects on the marketplace. * Demonstrated ownership of high-velocity execution, maintaining a sharp eye for detail in an environment where impact is paramount. * Resilience to thrive in a high-ownership environment where you are empowered to make formal ship decisions.
