The Experience Design team is responsible for shaping the end-to-end customer experience across Zopa’s products. Within the team, the Design Systems function provides the foundations that allow product teams to move quickly while delivering consistent, high quality experiences.
We’ve recently rebuilt our design system as part of our move to native, giving us a strong foundation for the future rather than a large legacy estate to untangle. This role is an opportunity to lead that next phase. You’ll own the design system as a strategic platform, helping us scale delivery, improve consistency, strengthen governance and unlock new ways of working through AI-assisted design and development.
You’ll lead a small team and work closely with Product, Engineering and Design leaders to ensure the design system becomes a core enabler of how Zopa builds products in the years ahead.

About the team: At SumUp, we’re on a mission to empower small businesses globally – while building meaningful connections between merchants and their customers. Within the Consumer Tribe, the Consumer Bank squad is at the heart of one of SumUp's most exciting growth bets – scaling SumUp Pay to an ambitious Monthly Active User target. The team designs end-to-end experiences across the full user lifecycle: from onboarding and account activation to driving engagement through features like Spaces, Open Banking insights, and budget tracking. Every design decision directly shapes whether a user becomes an active, loyal customer. We're building in a competitive neobank landscape where the bar for craft and intuitive journeys is high – and the opportunity to make a real impact is real. If you're excited about designing in a high-growth environment where your work reaches users across Europe and directly moves the needle on adoption and retention, this is the team for you. As a Senior Product Designer working alongside other designers in this team, you’ll be embedded in a cross-functional squad alongside Product Managers and Engineers, owning end-to-end design from discovery through delivery. Design plays a critical role here – not just in execution, but in defining the problems worth solving. The team works with a strong focus on user research, hypothesis-driven design, and continuous iteration, ensuring that every design decision is grounded in real user needs and measurable impact. You’ll contribute to high-impact areas of the product where thoughtful design directly influences key metrics like activation, engagement, and conversion. At the same time, you’ll help evolve our design system and ensure consistency and quality across the experience, especially as SumUp undergoes a broader brand transformation and scales its consumer offering. This is a team that values strong design thinking, autonomy, and collaboration – where designers are empowered to challenge assumptions, shape product direction, and deliver meaningful outcomes in a fast-moving, product-driven environment. What you’ll do: * Own end-to-end product design within the Consumer Bank squad, from discovery through delivery for the SumUp Pay experience * Lead discovery by identifying user problems, defining opportunities, and shaping hypotheses with Product and Engineering * Design intuitive, high-quality mobile experiences that drive key metrics such as activation, engagement, and retention * Create and iterate on user journeys across the lifecycle, including onboarding and activation flows * Validate solutions through prototyping, user research, and usability testing * Use data and insights to continuously improve the product and inform design decisions * Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation and scalability * Contribute to the design system and maintain consistency across the product You’ll be great for this role if you have: * Proven experience as a Senior Product Designer working on mobile-first products, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design and measurable impact * Strong discovery skills, including problem framing, hypothesis definition, user research, and insight synthesis * Excellent UX, interaction, and information design skills, with a high bar for quality and usability * Experience using data (qualitative and quantitative) to inform design decisions and iterate on solutions * Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work autonomously with Product Managers and Engineers in cross-functional teams * Solid understanding of technical constraints and how to design within them * Proven ability to leverage AI design tools (e.g. for ideation, prototyping, research and synthesis) to significantly accelerate workflows and elevate the quality of product outcomes * Proficiency in modern design tools (e.g. Figma) and experience contributing to or evolving design systems * A pragmatic, outcome-driven mindset with the confidence to challenge assumptions and influence product direction Why you should join SumUp: * Opportunity to work with a truly global, multicultural team from our central London Bridge location. This involves an office-first setup * Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: be part of a workplace that values and promotes diversity, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone's perspectives are respected and embraced * Enrolment onto our VSOP program: you will own a stake in SumUp’s future success * Generous time off: enjoy 28 days of paid leave, plus bank holidays and special leaves * Health matters: Vitality health cover, including optical and dental * Life made easier: salary-sacrifice commuter benefits via Gogeta * Financial security: retirement scheme (SumUp matches 7% when you contribute 5%) * Peace of mind: life insurance from MetLife for 2× your salary * Break4me: 1-month sabbatical after 3 years of service * Referral Bonus: earn additional rewards by referring talented individuals to join the SumUp team About us: Be empowered to do more that matters. ABOUT USERLANE Userlane is a market-leading Digital Adoption Platform that empowers organisations to understand and improve the value of their technology investments. Working with some of the world's most recognisable enterprises, we identify and eliminate adoption barriers and produce a more engaging and productive software experience for employees. YOUR MISSION Own Application Intelligence at Userlane. You'll shape what we build across App Discovery, HEART Analytics and Portfolio Overview to help enterprise CIOs and IT leaders see where software spending delivers value and where it creates waste. You'll work on opportunities such as: * Defining metrics that hold up: Own the methodology behind our HEART Analytics, deciding what each score measures, how it's calculated, and how it stays credible when data is incomplete. * Delivering outcome-linked metrics: Connect usage data to business outcomes like cost savings, efficiency and compliance risk that enterprise executives can take action on * Building for time-poor executives: Design analytics that bring insights to leaders and answers "what should I do?" not just "what happened?" * Connecting fragmented data sources: Define the integration strategy to combine Userlane behavioural data with cost data from SAM tools, license data from IT asset management and employee data from HR systems, * Transforming insights into action: Define what turns raw usage data into insights that drive action, not just dashboards people look at once * AI adoption governance: Extend analytics to measure how AI assistants and agents affect productivity, cost and ROI. YOUR PROFILE * 5+ years of product management experience on data/analytics products within a modern product organisation * You've defined a metrics methodology, scoring system or measurement framework that others build on, and you can defend the trade-offs behind it. You're comfortable reasoning about why one calculation approach produces misleading results in a specific scenario and another doesn't. * You start with the business question, not the data. Your first instinct is "what decision are they trying to make?" rather than "what data do we have?" * You hold your ground. You'll work with technically strong colleagues and leaders with well-formed opinions. You can disagree with them credibly, engage with their reasoning, and change your position when the evidence says so, not when the seniority does. * You can hold a credible conversation with data engineers and data scientists about what the data can and cannot prove, and you understand the difference between interesting data and actionable insight * You've worked in enterprise B2B (not B2C product analytics). Healthcare experience is a strong plus * You figure out what works by talking to customers and watching them use the product * You're capable of explaining things to engineers, salespeople, support agents and CEOs alike * You're fluent in English (spoken and written) WHAT'S IN FOR YOU * Team & Culture: A high-performance culture with great leadership and a fun, engaged, motivated and diverse team with people from over 20 countries * Impact: You'll be part of an empowered cross-functional team given the freedom and autonomy to solve real customer problems * Product strategy influence: Work directly with our VP Product to shape our 2026-2030 strategy as we expand into new sectors * Market: Userlane is among the global leaders in the rapidly growing Digital Adoption industry * Growth: We take you and your development seriously. You can expect weekly 121s, a personalised skills assessment and development plan, on-the-job coaching and budget for events and training Benefits: We offer flexible benefits related to savings and security, health and well-being, and lifestyle and leisure
