About Pinterest: Millions of people around the world come to our platform to find creative ideas, dream about new possibilities and plan for memories that will last a lifetime. At Pinterest, we’re on a mission to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love, and that starts with the people behind the product. Discover a career where you ignite innovation for millions, transform passion into growth opportunities, celebrate each other’s unique experiences and embrace the flexibility to do your best work. Creating a career you love? It’s Possible. At Pinterest, AI isn't just a feature, it's a powerful partner that augments our creativity and amplifies our impact, and we’re looking for candidates who are excited to be a part of that. To get a complete picture of your experience and abilities, we’ll explore your foundational skills and how you collaborate with AI. Through our interview process, what matters most is that you can always explain your approach, showing us not just what you know, but how you think. You can read more about our AI interview philosophy and how we use AI in our recruiting process here. Unlike social media platforms engineered to hijack attention, Pinterest is built as a visual search and discovery platform that transforms inspiration into action. Our 2026 brand campaign—centered on the rallying cry "Less URL, More IRL"—has hit a cultural nerve by positioning us as a destination that helps people get off the app and into their own lives. This commitment to user well-being is echoed globally through the leadership of our CEO, Bill Ready, whose industry-defining advocacy for youth safety, responsible AI, and proactive content moderation sets Pinterest apart as a pioneering force for a healthier, more positive digital future. The Role We are looking for a seasoned communications professional to lead communications for Pinterest across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), which represents the fourth largest digital advertising market globally. Joining a passionate, highly collaborative global communications team where being a true team player is essential, you will carve out our narrative to resonate locally with traditional and emerging media. You will position Pinterest as a destination that delivers inspiration that people act on through shopping, articulating what this means for brands utilizing our full-funnel marketing experience. Based in Hamburg, you will work directly alongside the Managing Director of DACH, Lucas Brinkman, supporting his business and sales teams across the region. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our AI Hub of Excellence based in Zurich, seeking unique opportunities to strengthen Pinterest’s core narrative around responsible AI and how we strategically leverage it within the platform. As a people manager, you will also be responsible for leading, developing, and mentoring one direct report based in Berlin as well as a PR agency team based locally. What you’ll do: * Lead External Communications in DACH: Own and execute the communications plans and execution across consumer, B2B, corporate, and policy communications across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. * Drive Brand & Consumer Campaigns: Drive proactive consumer PR initiatives that localize and amplify our global brand campaigns. You will translate our core messaging—that Pinterest is "a better feed that feeds the soul"—to DACH audiences, positioning the platform as a tool for real life. * Amplify the Zurich AI Hub Excellence: Partner with our technical and product teams in Zurich to build compelling narratives around our AI innovation, showcasing how Pinterest leads the industry in responsible AI and content moderation. * Executive & Leadership Communications: Partner closely with DACH MD Lucas Brinkman and global executives to support, prepare, and amplify them at top-tier industry events, media appearances, and complex topical narratives. * Media & Stakeholder Relations: Cultivate strong relationships with journalists and new media across the DACH region. Manage rapid response to high-priority regional issues, ensuring Pinterest is accurately represented. * Team Leadership & Agency Management: Act as a supportive line manager to your Berlin-based direct report, fostering a learning-focused environment. Oversee in-market PR agencies, directing their work, monitoring progress, reporting, and budgeting. * Cross-functional Partnerships: Build collaborative partnerships with regional sales, policy, and marketing teams to ensure alignment on business priorities and protect brand integrity. What we’re looking for: * Minimum 15 Years of Communications Experience: Ideally with a fast-paced technology, digital media, or global platform brand, preferably with experience operating within a US-headquartered corporate environment. * Deep Mastery of the DACH Media Landscape: Explicit expertise and established media relationships within Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, spanning business, tech, trade, consumer press and emerging media. * Proven People Leadership: Experience directly managing and developing talent, with the ability to effectively guide and empower a remote direct report (based in Berlin). * Strategic B2B & Commercial Acumen: Experience driving PR strategies within a major digital advertising market, comfortably articulating full-funnel value propositions to brands and advertisers. * Familiarity with Tech Policy & Innovation: Deep alignment with our core policy stances (teen safety, online content moderation, and responsible AI) and the ability to turn complex tech/AI capabilities into mainstream corporate stories. * Exceptional Executive Presence: A proven track record of working directly with, advising, and building trust with senior regional leadership and C-suite executives. * An Absolute Team Player: A collaborative, supportive mindset that thrives within a tight-knit international communications team. * Language Skills: Business level fluency in German and English, with exceptional writing skills and a strong eye for detail in both languages. * Bachelor’s degree in Communications, a related field or equivalent experience.
