Our mission is to make the transformative power of 3D printing available to all industries at scale and unlock the future of innovation.   As a CNC Machinist (5-Axis), you will work with our engineering and manufacturing team to scale Freeform’s high-volume, vertically integrated machining operation. You will run the best-in-class multi-axis machines including DMG Mori and Haas to develop complex parts for our 3D printing factories as well as post-process metal 3D printed parts for our customers. If you enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced development environment and are excited about creating cutting edge technology, we'd love to hear from you!  3D printing experience is not required to be successful here - rather we look for smart, motivated, collaborative individuals who love solving hard problems and creating amazing technology!    Responsibilities:   * Set-up, run, and operate programs on CNC machines (DMG Mori and Haas) for complex parts. * Complete machining operations from blueprints, drawings and/or schematics under tight tolerances. * Perform on-machine deburr as well as manual deburr as needed. * Inspect parts with on-machine probing as well as with manual tools such as micrometers, thread gauges, and indicators. * Perform machine preventative maintenance and manage cutting fluid. * Take part in process improvement projects and help in constantly improving processes and the shop. Basic Qualifications:   * 5+ years of experience in set-up and operation of CNC machines * Experience machining aluminum, stainless, titanium, or Inconel * Experience with 5-axis machining * Experience reading blueprints, part drawings, and schematics   Preferred Skills and Experience:  * 8+ years of experience  * Experience with Siemens controls   * Experience with DMG Mori machines * CNC programming experience   * Experience machining metal 3D printed parts * Experience designing, setting up, and working with complex fixtures for precision machining of high-tolerance parts * NTMA machinist certification   * Experience with precision measuring instruments * Ability to utilize power tools, hand tools, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment * Ability to lift and/or move up to 30lbs unassisted * Ability to climb ladders and be on your feet for extended periods of time * Must be available and willing to work overtime when needed   Location:   * We are located in Hawthorne, CA in a 35,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility featuring large open spaces for team collaboration, R&D, and production, as well as easy access to the 405, 105, and 110 freeways. Our facility is in the heart of Los Angeles' vibrant emerging tech ecosystem alongside many other high growth startups and enterprises. * Our fast-paced, cross-functional environment is built on close collaboration, and as such, this role requires full-time onsite presence (five days a week), with very limited exceptions. At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade. Your mission We are building hybrid-electric aircrafts and are establishing an in-house machine shop to support prototype, tooling, and early production efforts. We are seeking a CNC Programmer/Machinist who will be the first hire in the machine shop. You will have an opportunity to play a key role in shaping machining processes, standards, and culture.  This is a hands-on role requiring deep experience machining large aluminum structural components, developing robust processes, and transitioning work from prototype through low-rate production.
