Teach English to Children in Japan Amity (a division of AEON Corporation) Position Title: English Teacher *This is not an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) position and teachers work at Amity branch schools, not public schools. We are not assistants to other teachers and we do not have assistants. We teach children in small groups of 1 to 8 students. Our younger students (babies and toddler) come earlier in the day while our Kindergarten to High School aged students come from the afternoon after they finish their regular schools. Location: Over 90 branch schools across Japan *We do not have Amity branches in Hokkaido, Okinawa, or Shikoku. Work Type: Full Time *Amity does not hire Foreign Part-time teaching staff. All positions are for a 40-hour workweek. REQUIREMENTS * English: Native level * Desire and ability to work with young children (ages range from six months to 18 years old, but are predominantly elementary school age and below) * BA/BS Degree from a university where English is the primary language; all majors accepted * Completion of elementary, secondary, and university education primarily in English only * Ability to work a full-time 40-hour workweek from Tuesday to Saturday * Ability to work 10AM-7PM, 11AM-8PM and 12PM-9PM as decided by the branch school manager * Visa sponsorship available JOB DESCRIPTION Teach English to Children in Japan! Amity is a leading English conversation educator for children in Japan. Amity has been providing international teaching opportunities for more than four decades and currently operates over 90 branch schools throughout Japan. Amity is seeking enthusiastic and motivated professionals who enjoy working with children. Successful candidates must have native English fluency, have the ability to work with a wide range of ages (student ages range from six months to 18 years old), possess good communication skills, be approachable, and be open-minded to cultural differences. The candidate must also be creative and have a willingness to learn Amity's teaching methods in addition to improving their own teaching skills. Teaching and/or business experience, as well as Japanese language ability is helpful, but not necessary. Teachers are expected to speak only English with the students at all times. Candidates must have a BA/BS degree (all majors considered) and have completed all of their elementary and secondary education primarily in English. Initial contracts require a minimum 1 year commitment. Amity offers a competitive salary, visa sponsorship, subsidized housing, subsidized corporate health insurance, and more. Teachers are also eligible for monthly bonuses which are dependent on student numbers and class load, as well as a contract completion bonus.
