Executing the planned maintenance backlog, managing liquid levels, pulling process samples, and documenting operational parameters. * Executing mechanical adjustments and retrofits with hand tools. Assisting the Operations Engineer in troubleshooting anomalies. * Project management for unit upgrades. Reviewing and updating P&IDs, conducting hazard and safety evaluations, and communicating with suppliers to procure new components. Your targets are your North Star. Nothing is set in stone in our world, we adapt fast, but we always hit our goals. 🥼 WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM * Currently enrolled in a B.Sc. or M.Sc. program in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. * Demonstrated mechanical aptitude (comfortable using tools and physically assembling/disassembling equipment). * Familiarity with fluid mechanics, basic P&ID drafting, understanding of standard hazard evaluation processes (e.g., HAZOP basics). * Basic understanding of chemical/process engineering fundamentals. * Ability to read and understand technical drawings (P&IDs). * High autonomy, proactive communication, high attention to detail, and a rigorous safety mindset. 🌟 ESSENTIAL TRAITS * Hands-on execution: You’re not afraid to get your hands dirty and physically work on the plant. * Safety-first mindset: You don’t compromise on operational safety and hazard evaluations. 💡GREAT TO HAVE, BUT OPTIONAL * Prior experience operating, building, or maintaining a laboratory setup or pilot plant. * Background knowledge or high passion for Direct Air Capture (DAC) or carbon removal technologies. * Previous experience dealing with suppliers and component procurement. 🏭 HOW WE WORK AT PHLAIR * In-person matters: We work fully onsite in Ismaning, Germany. As an AI Engineer (gn), you bring AI to where it creates real value in day-to-day business: translating business requirements into practical, production-ready AI solutions built on our existing tool landscape and an emerging company-wide AI platform. You work hands-on with our AI tools, including Claude Enterprise, ChatGPT Enterprise, and n8n, building workflows and use cases, advancing our AI tooling, and helping introduce, consolidate, and govern new technologies. You think end-to-end—from the initial problem statement through implementation and deployment. Due to organizational and regulatory requirements, residency in Germany is required for this position. YOUR MISSION * TRANSLATE BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS INTO AI SOLUTIONS * Translate business requirements into concrete, implementable AI solutions, working closely with Business, Security, and Engineering teams. * Own AI use cases from the initial idea through production deployment, including implementation, stakeholder alignment, documentation, and transparency. * Integrate AI, LLMs, and AI agents into production workflows while contributing to the development of a centralized AI infrastructure/platform. WORK WITH AND EVOLVE OUR AI TOOL LANDSCAPE * Work hands-on with our enterprise AI tools (Claude Enterprise, ChatGPT Enterprise) and help improve their capabilities and usability. * Build and maintain workflows and automations in n8n, while enabling teams to use them independently. * Evaluate and introduce new AI tools, consolidate existing solutions, and collaborate with Security on standards and governance (e.g., for n8n). * Develop AI applications such as RAG solutions, conversational assistants, and AI agents that answer questions, provide recommendations, or execute tasks with human approval. * Design governance models, role- and permission concepts, and technical guardrails for the responsible use of AI across the organization.
