🌍 Shape the Future of Climate Tech with Phlair! Fossil fuels have powered our economy for decades—at the cost of pollution and a changing climate. At Phlair, we’re reversing that equation. With our cost-efficient, scalable electrochemical Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, we pull CO₂ from the air to either store it permanently or repurpose it into CO₂-negative chemicals. Join us in enabling a carbon-negative future. 🚀 WHY WE’RE DIFFERENT? We’ve developed a breakthrough hydrolizer for acid/base regeneration, enabling scalable CO₂ capture. With partners like Frontier Climate, Stripe, and Shopify, we’re on track to make a global impact. Our Project Dawn is our flagship initiative, setting the foundation to scale our technology and remove millions of tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere. We're one of the only seven DAC companies with a proven offtake agreement. Phlair is poised to become a technology leader, leveraging renewable energy and low-cost DAC to provide clean energy solutions that go beyond carbon removal. 🛠️ YOUR MISSION AT PHLAIR * Hands-on plant support. Executing the planned maintenance backlog, managing liquid levels, pulling process samples, and documenting operational parameters. * Executing mechanical adjustments and retrofits with hand tools. Assisting the Operations Engineer in troubleshooting anomalies. * Project management for unit upgrades. Reviewing and updating P&IDs, conducting hazard and safety evaluations, and communicating with suppliers to procure new components. Your targets are your North Star. Nothing is set in stone in our world, we adapt fast, but we always hit our goals. 🥼 WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM * Currently enrolled in a B.Sc. or M.Sc. program in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. * Demonstrated mechanical aptitude (comfortable using tools and physically assembling/disassembling equipment). * Familiarity with fluid mechanics, basic P&ID drafting, understanding of standard hazard evaluation processes (e.g., HAZOP basics). * Basic understanding of chemical/process engineering fundamentals. * Ability to read and understand technical drawings (P&IDs). * High autonomy, proactive communication, high attention to detail, and a rigorous safety mindset. 🌟 ESSENTIAL TRAITS * Hands-on execution: You’re not afraid to get your hands dirty and physically work on the plant. * Safety-first mindset: You don’t compromise on operational safety and hazard evaluations. 💡GREAT TO HAVE, BUT OPTIONAL * Prior experience operating, building, or maintaining a laboratory setup or pilot plant. * Background knowledge or high passion for Direct Air Capture (DAC) or carbon removal technologies. * Previous experience dealing with suppliers and component procurement. 🏭 HOW WE WORK AT PHLAIR * In-person matters: We work fully onsite in Ismaning, Germany. Our pilot plant is here, our breakthroughs happen here, and our team wins here – together. Goals matter: We do everything to achieve our goals. If your workstream is the bottleneck, you don't stop. This isn't about serving hours, it's about hitting goals that matter. Leadership means showing up and doing the work. We get that experienced people have more commitments, but championship teams require championship effort. 🌱 WHAT WE OFFER? * Competitive salary * 20 vacation days, based on a 40h work week * Public transport pass for all of Germany * Fitness and wellness benefits to keep you at your best (EGYM Wellpass) * Fresh team lunches, prepared by our amazing chef, Amelie * Direct leadership access to our CEO, CTO, and CSO 🔗 LEARN MORE ABOUT PHLAIR * Our Mission, Vision and Team * Phlair Secures Frontier’s First Electrochemical DAC Deal * Technology Behind Phlair * The Future of DAC * Meet a Phlair peer – Adrian ------ Not ticking every box? No problem. We value potential and are open to considering a combination of education and experience instead of strictly following the listed requirements. If you believe you're a good fit for the role, even if your background differs slightly, please feel free to explain and highlight your key spikes in your career in your application. We are committed to build a high-performing team where people feel a strong sense of care, can be their selves, and are able to reach their full potential. Start: immediately | Level: Mid - Senior | Location: Germany, remote | Working Hours: Full Time (40h/Week) Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we work, make decisions, and automate processes. As an AI Engineer (gn), you bring AI to where it creates real value in day-to-day business: translating business requirements into practical, production-ready AI solutions built on our existing tool landscape and an emerging company-wide AI platform. You work hands-on with our AI tools, including Claude Enterprise, ChatGPT Enterprise, and n8n, building workflows and use cases, advancing our AI tooling, and helping introduce, consolidate, and govern new technologies. You think end-to-end—from the initial problem statement through implementation and deployment. Due to organizational and regulatory requirements, residency in Germany is required for this position. YOUR MISSION * TRANSLATE BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS INTO AI SOLUTIONS * Translate business requirements into concrete, implementable AI solutions, working closely with Business, Security, and Engineering teams. * Own AI use cases from the initial idea through production deployment, including implementation, stakeholder alignment, documentation, and transparency. * Integrate AI, LLMs, and AI agents into production workflows while contributing to the development of a centralized AI infrastructure/platform. WORK WITH AND EVOLVE OUR AI TOOL LANDSCAPE * Work hands-on with our enterprise AI tools (Claude Enterprise, ChatGPT Enterprise) and help improve their capabilities and usability. * Build and maintain workflows and automations in n8n, while enabling teams to use them independently. * Evaluate and introduce new AI tools, consolidate existing solutions, and collaborate with Security on standards and governance (e.g., for n8n). * Develop AI applications such as RAG solutions, conversational assistants, and AI agents that answer questions, provide recommendations, or execute tasks with human approval. * Design governance models, role- and permission concepts, and technical guardrails for the responsible use of AI across the organization. ENABLE DATA & BUILD OUR AI PLATFORM * Connect structured and unstructured data sources, prepare them for AI applications, and ensure high-quality retrieval using technologies such as embeddings, vector search, and reranking. * Contribute to the development of our emerging enterprise AI platform—from answering questions to making recommendations and enabling AI-assisted actions with human approval. * Empower business teams to adopt AI securely and effectively while acting as a technical sparring partner for Business and Engineering. * Assess new integrations, connectors, and platform capabilities with regard to technical feasibility, governance, and risk. YOUR EXPERIENCE & SKILLS * Experience translating business requirements into technical AI solutions, ideally in a project-based or consulting environment. * Experience integrating AI/ML, LLMs, and agentic AI into production workflows. * Experience with automation platforms such as n8n (or comparable tools) and enthusiasm for designing and maintaining workflows. * Confident working with modern enterprise AI platforms (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT), with an interest in evolving, deploying, and governing them—including role and permission models as well as connector integrations. * Experience connecting data sources for a variety of AI use cases and preparing data for retrieval using techniques such as embeddings, vector search, and reranking. * Strong technical implementation skills (e.g., Python, APIs, system integrations). * Understanding of data privacy, security, and AI governance, including GDPR compliance. * Knowledge of or interest in agile methodologies, change management, and project coordination. * A self-driven, communicative, and collaborative working style, combined with a passion for emerging AI technologies. WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE SPECIAL In this role, you work closely with the people who use AI every day. You transform real business needs into working solutions—whether as n8n workflows, use cases on our enterprise chat platform, or applications on our company-wide AI platform. You see the direct impact of your work across the organization. You'll join an environment that is evolving rapidly, where many AI initiatives are still taking shape. The scope of the role is intentionally broad—from new tools and AI use cases to automation and the development of our enterprise AI platform. We're not looking for a specialist in a single tool, but for someone who can quickly understand emerging technologies and turn them into scalable, sustainable solutions. WHY CHOOSE US?
