Denna position rapporterar till: Technical Support Manager __ Your Role and Responsibilities As a Technical Support Engineer, you will take on a central role supporting ABB’s automation platforms used across the Energy, Process and Marine sectors. Your expertise will help keep mission‑critical systems running reliably and efficiently, and you will be a key technical partner to teams across ABB’s global organization. In your role, you will handle complex technical challenges across the full system lifecycle from design and testing to installation, commissioning and long‑term operation. Your work will involve close day‑to‑day collaboration with local project teams, service engineers, specialists, Product Management and R&D. You will also interact directly with customers, giving you a firsthand understanding of how your work supports real industrial operations. This is a role for someone who enjoys understanding how things work, finding the root cause of problems and working with others to find solutions. The team is located in Malmö, Sweden. In this role, you will: Support ABB’s front-end organizations in using ABB’s DCS systems ABB Ability™ System 800xA and Automation Extended evolution with focus on Control, I/O & Communication. Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including evaluating problem descriptions, analyzing log files, performing remote diagnostics and reproducing issues in lab. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Product Development, and ABB front-end organizations, to address complex technical issues and improve products. Contribute to product supportability by helping shape diagnostic tools, logging mechanisms and technical guides. Visit customer sites occasionally to help troubleshoot complex issues or perform system health checks. You likely have: Experience in process automation, system service, maintenance or commissioning or a related technical education. Knowledge of System 800xA, AC 800M, S800 I/O and Select I/O and technologies like Microsoft platforms, virtualization. Knowledge of Ethernet-based communication and Industrial protocols such as OPC UA, MMS, PROFINET, PROFIBUS and Modbus TCP. Curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools and technologies over time. You will drive practical development and verification work connected to filling technologies and equipment. You will execute physical tests and document results, observations, and recommendations in a structured way. You will define test methods, test setups, and evaluation criteria that support efficient development work. You will troubleshoot equipment, machine functionality, and test setups during ongoing development programs. You will work closely with development teams to turn concepts into practical, testable solutions. You will evaluate mechanical designs with focus on functionality, performance, maintainability, serviceability, user-friendliness, robustness, and fitness for purpose. You will challenge proposed design solutions from a practical engineering perspective and contribute to better technical decisions. You will support investments and upgrades in filling equipment and development test environments. You will contribute to verification and validation planning and help ensure that development tests are completed on time. RequirementsDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar technical field. Strong practical hands-on engineering capability. Experience working with mechanical equipment, machinery development, testing, or commissioning. Experience planning and executing physical tests and evaluations. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and mechanical designs. A structured way of documenting test results and technical conclusions. Fluent Swedish and English, written and spoken. Nice to haveExperience from food processing, filling equipment, packaging machinery, or related industries. Knowledge of filling technologies or experience related to filling liquid food products. Experience with mechanical design review and constructive design feedback. Experience with machine rebuilds, installations, and commissioning. Understanding of product verification and validation activities. Knowledge of hygienic design principles. Hands-on or operational experience working with automation systems.
