The engineering team creates technical solutions for the transfer of load in moorings, lifting components and subsea cable connections. The Mechatronics Design Engineer will work alongside other engineers and internal company personnel to engineer final design solutions, develop conceptual designs, support existing products and perform testing/analysis of new and existing products. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead the design of electro-mechanical assemblies as part of multi-disciplinary engineering teams. * Act as the technical authority and design/specify control systems for electro-hydraulic tools, including PLCs, embedded controllers, I/O, sensors, actuators, and HMIs. * Produce and maintain key system documentation: 3D models, manufacturing drawings and design calculations (P&IDs, schematics, control narratives, FDS, interface specs, I/O lists, and test procedures). * Integrate and configure sensors and communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, CAN). * Oversee and support factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimisation of control systems. * Deliver operator training, manuals, and after-sales support as required. * Collaborate with other departments (Mechanical Design, Production, QA, Sales) to ensure effective communication, manufacturability, and reliability. * Contribute to R&D activities, technical solutions for bids, and continuous product improvement. * Ensure compliance with company policies, quality, and HSE procedures. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE * Degree or HND in Mechatronics, Control, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience. * At least 5–8 years’ experience in electro-mechanical or industrial control systems, preferably with electro-hydraulic integration. * Experience of basic controls system programming, ladder logic and sensor integration. * Experience in mechanical design and verification (preferred). * Hands-on commissioning experience (FAT/SAT), with willingness to travel for abroad for such work. * Strong IT, written, and verbal communication skills. * Full UK driving license (preferred, not required). REQUIRED SKILLS * Extensive experience in the design of electro-mechanical assemblies. * Experience of PLC integration and basic PLC programming. * Experience in the design and verification of mechanical components. * Excellent communications skills – must interface successfully with other engineers, non-technical personnel and with customers to define and implement solutions. * Demonstrated initiative in solving challenging problems. You will: Design mechanical systems & solutions with emphasis on performance and quality using a ‘first principles’ approach Generate 3D models, assemblies and 2D drawings using Catia V6 / 3DExperience Design and facilitate tests to verify component function and that requirements are met Carry out data analysis to perform root cause analysis, promote reliability and improve performance Assist in selecting and interacting with suppliers and technology providers to ensure quality and performance targets are met Work closely with the Prototype dept. during concept validation phase Provide technical support leading to successful introduction of components and systems into and throughout production Assist in the creation of design standards and help to enforce them within the team Mentor entry-level engineers Requirements: Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field 5+ years of experience in engineering design for Automotive/Aerospace or similar industries. Proven understanding of assembly design, DFM and durability of components 5+ years Advanced CAD capabilities (CATIA V5/V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE) Proven experience of working with FEA GD&T design and application Proof of previous design of components for state-of-the-art manufacturing methods Meritorious experience: Work experience from top tier automotive or motorsport industry Practical hands-on experience working with cars/racing or similar (either professional or hobby) Material science (material selection, heat treatment and surface treatments etc.) Vehicle Architecture and packaging Previous leadership experience Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, so don't wait to apply.
