YOUR MISSION Join VÆRIDION on our groundbreaking journey to develop the world’s first electric 9-seater aircraft. As a HiL Test Engineer (all genders), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the VÆRIDION Microliner by integrating and testing the electronic control units of our electric propulsion system, with a primary focus on the Battery Management System (BMS). You will lead the development and management of HiL and Power HiL test rigs at our test facilities while executing critical test campaigns for R&D and certification. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY * Test Execution: * Manage the entire test process, from request to final report. * Collaborate with design engineers to assess test requirements. * Execute tests and deliver reliable, insightful reports. * Test Asset Ownership: * Oversee multiple test assets, ensuring readiness, safety, and calibration. * Optimize asset schedules for maximum testing efficiency. * Partner with engineers and technicians to set up and execute test campaigns. * Rig Development: * Design and develop HiL and Power HiL test rigs in coordination with support teams and suppliers. * Create software solutions for test rigs focused on electric motor, battery, and system integration. * Work closely with software, mechanical, and electrical specialists to innovate test solutions. * Support and Best Practices: * Foster a strong safety culture within our test facilities. * Establish and maintain best practices to ensure operational excellence. * Tackle ad-hoc projects and tasks with enthusiasm and adaptability. YOUR PROFILE * Degree in Aerospace, Computer, Software, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering (or a related field). * 3+ years of professional experience in real-time simulation labs. * Expertise in developing HiL and Power HiL rigs is essential. * Proficiency with test rig systems and software like Matlab/Simulink, National Instruments, or Speedgoat is critical. * Knowledge of Battery Management Systems is highly desirable. * Experience with aerospace standards such as DO-178 is desirable. * Familiarity with high-voltage components and aircraft integration labs is a plus. * Proactive, driven, and unafraid to challenge the status quo. * Comfortable working with incomplete requirements and anticipating needs. * Self-reliant, adaptable, and an excellent team player. * Strong problem-solving skills and a goal-oriented mindset. * Fluent in English; German or other languages are a Plus. Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * System Architecture & Design * Define the Electrical Power System architecture in coordination with system engineering and mission requirements. * Size and specify solar arrays, batteries, and power conditioning/distribution units. * Ensure optimal power generation, storage, and distribution strategy across all mission phases and failure scenario and failure scenario * Component Selection & Specification * Evaluate and select flight-qualified components: solar cells, battery design, power conversion and protection elements. * Support the design of power conditioning and distribution units * Generate technical specifications * Analysis & Simulation * Conduct worst-case, reliability, and redundancy analyses in accordance with ECSS/NASA standards. * Integration & Testing * Define and execute Electrical Power System verification and validation plans (unit, subsystem, and system levels). * Support integration of Electrical Power System with other subsystems of the spacecraft. * Participate in environmental testing: vibration, thermal vacuum, EMC. * Project & Supplier Coordination * Interface with suppliers for COTS and internal teams for in-house designed power system components. * Support project development logic, planning, risk assessment, and technical reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR). * Documentation & Standards Compliance * Produce detailed documentation for design, analysis, test procedures, and compliance reports. * Ensure compliance with space-grade standards (NASA-STD, ECSS) * Contribute actively to reviews with customers and certification authorities for the Electrical Power System. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. * Minimum 3–5 years of experience in spacecraft Electrical Power System or avionics system development. * Good level of understanding of the following domains: * Solar array systems * Space-qualified batteries * Power converters (DC/DC), MPPT, PCDU design * Power distribution architectures (bus, switched, redundant) * General electronics * Proficiency with simulation and software development tools (e.g. Github, Python). * Familiarity with ECSS/NASA standards and derating rules for space hardware. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills. * Fluent in English; ability to write clear technical specifications and reports. As a BMS Engineer based in Gävle, Sweden, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and support of Building Management Systems (BMS) within mission-critical data center environments. Working in high-availability data centers, you will ensure that critical building systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while supporting both planned maintenance and reactive service activities. Key Responsibilities Install, commission, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Building Management Systems (BMS) and field control systems within data centers. Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and support for critical infrastructure. Support automation and controls projects, including commissioning of new installations and system upgrades. Modify, program, and interrogate BMS software, control strategies, graphics, and system databases. Monitor and optimize HVAC, cooling, ventilation, and other critical building services to maximize energy efficiency and system performance. Diagnose faults quickly and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime in mission-critical environments. Ensure all maintenance and project work is completed in accordance with health, safety, and industry standards. Produce detailed service reports, commissioning documentation, and technical records. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients, contractors, and on-site operations teams. Required Skills & Experience Previous experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS) in commercial or mission-critical environments. Experience operating, maintaining, commissioning, and troubleshooting HVAC and mechanical building services. Experience with Niagara BMS systems. Experience with BMS software programming, graphics, alarms, trends, and control strategies. Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills in live operational environments. Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations, risk assessments, and safe working practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare technical documentation and build positive customer relationships. Experience working in data centers or other critical infrastructure environments is highly desirable.
