SHORT FACTS Join us on our journey at Entrix: We are hiring a Staff Data Scientist to shape how we trade the flexibility of our customers’ battery assets across European power markets. You will own the technical vision for our trading algorithms, drive the data science roadmap with the team, and deliver production systems that turn forecasts and optimization into revenue. This is a senior individual contributor role. You will spend your time on the hardest problems on the team: framing ambiguous trading challenges, designing systems that combine machine learning and optimization to deliver impactful results, and mentoring data scientists to raise the bar across the team. You will work closely with software engineers, product managers, and the leadership team to create a vision for the next generation of algorithmic trading at Entrix. * Location: Munich, Germany * Employment Type: Full-Time, indefinite term * Salary Range: € 115.000 - 135.000 per year gross depending on the seniority level * Office-first work setup * Language Requirement: C1 Level English YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES * Research, develop, and productize algorithms and models that optimize financial returns in trading the flexibility of our customers’ assets * Shape the technical vision for how we trade the flexibility of assets across markets, breaking that vision into a roadmap the team can deliver against * Take ownership of our data science roadmap, driving alignment across teams on methodology choices, success metrics, and system design * Own the delivery of complex, ambiguous, large-scale projects from research to production deployment and monitoring. Anticipate dependencies and resolve them early * Foster technical excellence across the team, mentoring data scientists through design review, code review, and structured feedback * Champion engineering rigor in testing, code quality, observability, and reproducibility for analytical code running in production YOUR PROFILE Mandatory Requirements * 7+ years industry experience in applied data science, with significant time spent developing trading algorithms in the energy or financial sectors * Deep understanding of trading mechanics: price formation, market microstructure, risk, and the constraints that turn a backtest into a live strategy * University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field * Strong expertise in python and software engineering practices: testing, code review, CI/CD, monitoring, and modular code design * Proven track record of taking machine learning and/or optimization models from research into reliable production systems on AWS or other cloud platforms * Experience mentoring junior data scientists and raising the technical bar of the team * Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills Skills to Set You Apart * Direct experience with energy trading, especially for flexibility of battery storage systems * Experience with both Machine Learning and Optimization development * Experience designing or owning real-time or near-real-time analytics workflows.
