About Us
OpenFX is on a mission to move money as freely as data, unrestricted by time zones, banking hours, or legacy systems. We are
building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of cross-border payment systems for institutions. Our stellar team
brings experience at companies such as J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, FalconX, PayPal, Affirm, Kraken, Nium and others. We are backed
by Accel, Lightspeed, NfX, and other top-tier investors.
About the Role
OpenFX is roughly 180 people across Dubai, Bangalore, London, Amsterdam, and Miami, heading toward 300 inside twelve months, and
scaling from $8B toward $20B+ in monthly TPV. The business works and the strategy is clear. We are now in the phase where the
constraint stops being what we decide and starts being how reliably we execute what we have already decided.
That is the phase this seat exists to solve. As Chief of Staff you are the force multiplier for everything internal: you own the
executive operating system, the integrity of how the company plans and prioritizes, the signal the CEO sees, and whether decisions
made at the top actually close.
One part of the seat is unusually technical. OpenFX is an engineering-heavy company moving from a single product to a
multi-product company against permanently constrained engineering capacity, and the cost of that transition currently shows up as
a coordination tax: conflicting priorities, unclear timelines, and prioritization decisions that get made late or informally. That
requires enough product and engineering depth to hold Product, Design, and Engineering to a real prioritization discipline, and to
know when an answer you are being given does not hold up.
What You’ll Do
bi-annual planning cycles. You maintain the single source of truth for every leadership commitment, and when something is late
you say so directly to the executive who owns it. This cadence surfaces problems by design, so you are equally accountable for
it surfacing wins.
five. Your first move is not to mediate: you route the two leaders to each other with a 48-hour deadline and a required output.
You broker only what direct resolution has genuinely failed to close, and you force into the room only what brokering cannot.
Success is measured by the share of conflicts resolved without you, rising over time.
allocation and roadmap forum: one resource model per function agreed by the people who own the work, one prioritized
cross-functional list, and a written record of every tradeoff naming what was declined and at what cost. Product owns what to
build and Engineering owns feasibility. You own whether the decision gets made explicitly, on a date, by the right people, and
whether it holds. Twelve months in, every function should be visibly better at this discipline than it is today.
know it and the standing to say so before it becomes a commitment.
level down to sub-function, and the standard every review is held to. BizOps owns the metrics layer and the analysis; you own
the forum, the tradeoffs it forces, and whether its decisions close.
leads rather than written alone, covering hiring pipeline health, onboarding, revenue by product line, engineering delivery and
prioritization changes, partnerships, operational incidents, and cultural drift, tracked with the same rigor as revenue. Soft
stuff is hard stuff: across five offices, drift is a when, not an if, and it should reach the CEO as signal, with a
recommendation. Monthly and quarterly post-mortems on top of it.
filtering is not always done well. You sit in the offices, take the hallway conversations, run skip-levels, and periodically
tap the raw feed to make sure nothing important is being filtered away.

breakpoint before it breaks, tell the exec team which structures will not survive it, and identify the roles that must be in
seat nine to twelve months ahead of need. You also own risk and crisis readiness: identifying medium and long-term structural
risks and building the contingency and response protocols before they are needed rather than during.
it without status requests, check-ins, or reminders. Every handoff from the CEO carries an explicit delegation level: execute
as specified, recommend then act, or act then inform. If the level is missing, you ask once and the answer becomes the default
for that category of work.
date rather than carrying it to the CEO. Where delivering an outcome requires another function’s effort, the work sits with
that function and the outcome sits with you.
survived multiple attempts, sit between functions, or keep resurfacing under new names. Admission to the list requires a root
cause, meaning the specific reason it has survived every previous attempt, which is almost never the problem itself but a
missing owner, a misaligned incentive, or a decision nobody wants to make. Each quarter, bring the CEO the top of the list with
a recommendation for how to solve it and how to staff it. He decides which ones become his; most should not, and routing the
rest to the function that should own them, recommendation attached, is part of the judgment. This register is also where the
consequential projects this seat takes on end to end get sourced.

indefinitely.
direction, aligning the organization, mobilizing through leaders, engaging the board, connecting with stakeholders, and
managing personal effectiveness. You audit actual against intent quarterly and tell him, in writing, where the gap is and what
consumed it. The standard is his time going to things no one else can do, in ways that magnify effectiveness, without getting
mired in things that don’t make a difference.
including views nobody asked for. And tell the CEO what he needs to hear: when he has picked up work that belongs two levels
below him, when a decision already made is being staged as an open discussion, and when a people call is being slow-walked.
What the CEO Retains
This seat runs the machinery of how the executive team operates. It does not replace the CEO in it, and the following stay
personally with him, permanently: executive 1:1s and the development of his leaders, final accountability conversations, vision
and direction, board engagement, and the enforcement backstop when an executive ignores the system. You design the forums, set the
agendas, and make the machinery run. He shows up as the CEO inside them. This line exists for your protection as much as his. A
Chief of Staff who sits between a CEO and his executives stops multiplying him and starts substituting for him, and the parts of
the job that got substituted are the ones that were never delegable in the first place. That is how the CoS seat fails.
What You Should Bring

accept it.

About Us Hawk is the leading provider of AI-supported anti-money laundering and fraud detection technology. Banks and payment providers globally are using Hawk’s powerful combination of traditional rules and explainable AI to improve the effectiveness of their AML compliance and fraud prevention by identifying more crime while maximizing efficiency by reducing false positives. With our solution, we are playing a vital role in the global fight against Money Laundering, Fraud, or the financing of terrorism. We offer a culture of mutual trust, support and passion – while providing individuals with opportunities to grow professionally and make a difference in the world. Your Mission As Chief of Staff to the CEO, your mission is to multiply the CEO’s impact across everything that matters most to Hawk. You will run the operating rhythm that keeps the executive team aligned and moving, lead strategic initiatives from definition through to delivery, and make sure that the CEO’s priorities translate into the company’s actions. This is a role for someone who thrives on ambiguity, knows how to bring order to chaos without losing speed, and wants to be at the center of building a category-defining company in the fight against financial crime. You’ll do all of this as an AI-native operator – treating AI as the default first move, building agents and workflows, automating anything that can be automated. Key Responsibilities * Own the executive rhythm: design and run the cadence of leadership meetings, strategic reviews that keep the exec team coordinated and decisions moving * Lead special projects directly with the CEO. Taking a priority from a rough idea to a structured plan to measurable outcomes, often across multiple functions and without a dedicated team underneath you * Track and drive OKRS and CEO strategic priorities, resolve blockers before they become problems. Ensure impactful communication of strategy & progress * Prepare high-quality materials for decision making – synthesizing complex information into clear narratives that drive the right conversations * Serve as a trusted thought partner to the CEO & leadership. Pressure-testing ideas, flagging blind spots, and occasionally being the person in the room willing to say what others won’t * Work closely with the full executive team – not as a coordinator, but as a peer who can hold a thread across finance, product, engineering, sales, and operations and know when something needs escalating * Orchestrate the CEO's external advisor bench – bankers, consultants, board advisors, communications partners, and topic experts. Scope the work, brief them, hold them to deliverables, integrate their output back into the company * Proactively hunt for gaps, friction, and emerging problems across the company - in execution, the operating model, team performance, or external dependencies - and don't just surface them. Take ownership, and drive the fix yourself Your Profile * 5+ years of experience in a top strategy consulting firm, ideally in technology transformation or financial services * 3+ years of experience in a high-growth startup post Series B – as an operator, Chief of Staff or founder. You’ve seen a company scale, and you know what breaks when it does * You're comfortable being handed a vague but important problem and turning it into a plan you execute. Ambiguity doesn't paralyze you – it's where you do your best work * You have a sharp eye for what's broken or about to break, and you don't wait to be asked. You go and find the problems no one is owning yet, and then you fix them - rolling up your sleeves rather than writing a memo about who should * Exceptional written and verbal communicator. You can write a crisp exec briefing, run a tight leadership meeting, and adapt your style from the board to the engineering team without losing the thread * You know how to move things forward without direct authority. You influence through clarity, relationships, and follow-through – not hierarchy * AI is the operating system of how you work, not a tool you reach for occasionally. You use it across research, drafting, analysis, and decision support every day, and you're fluent enough to design prompts, build agents, and chain tools together to solve real problems * Genuinely curious about what AI means for financial services, compliance, and the future of companies like Hawk. You don’t need to be an engineer, but you want to be close to where the industry is going
ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a Chief of Staff to serve as a force multiplier for the CEO. This is a part-time contract role (at least 20 hours per week, with flexibility on scheduling) designed for someone who can move fluidly between strategy and execution. This isn't a "shadow the executive" role. You'll own real problems, make real decisions, and have direct impact on how the company scales. The position has a clear path to full-time conversion, with a mutual evaluation at the 3-month mark. The ideal candidate has the horsepower of a top-tier consultant, the scrappiness of an early startup employee, and the judgment to know when to ask questions versus when to just figure it out. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Drive strategic planning: Own the quarterly planning process, track KPIs, and keep the company aligned on what matters. * Fix what's broken: Identify bottlenecks in how we work, communicate, and ship. Implement solutions without waiting to be told. * Lead cross-functional projects: Take ownership of high-priority initiatives that don't fit neatly into existing teams, whether that's analyzing a new market, coordinating a product launch, or preparing for a fundraise. * Maximize the CEO's time: Manage priorities, prepare materials for board meetings and investor conversations, and handle external engagements. * Support hiring and culture: Help recruit key roles and maintain a strong, unified culture across our SF and Tokyo teams. * Build the information edge: Conduct research on competitors, market trends, and potential partnerships to inform decisions at the top. REQUIREMENTS Experience * 2+ years in a high-performance environment: top-tier management consulting, investment banking, or Chief of Staff at a high-growth startup. * Track record of managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and delivering under pressure. * Exceptional communication skills. You can take messy information and turn it into a clear, concise narrative. * Strong analytical and financial modeling skills. * Native/Bilingual proficiency in English. Bonus * Prior experience as a founder or early employee at a venture-backed startup. MINDSET * Ownership: You treat this like your company. You don't wait for permission to solve problems. * Adaptability: You're comfortable with ambiguity and can pivot between strategic, financial, and operational challenges without losing momentum. * Discretion: You'll have access to sensitive information. You operate with integrity and keep confidences.
