ABOUT THE ROLE AND TEAM The IC Team is responsible for the design and test of the integrated circuits which operate at deep-cryogenic temperatures and interact with the qubits. This role is a unique chance to work at the bleeding edge of technology development, developing new innovative circuits to tackle the engineering challenge of implementing a large scale quantum computer in silicon. You will be a key part of a multidisciplinary team, and will be involved in all the aspects of IC design cycle from initial concept to volume production. As a Principal EDA Engineer you will be supporting design teams primarily working with a design flow. It’s an analogue flow using commercial PDK’s but with internally developed add-ons to customize processes. You’ll work alongside other EDA support engineers, as the eams grow and expand their remit. FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE The role responsibilities include: * Responsible for developing and maintaining all EDA environments within the company. * Managing the EDA team resources across multiple projects and teams. * Work alongside with the design and layout engineers in the tape-out flow ensuring the quality of the submitted GDS. * Managing the interface with the foundry for ASIC fabrication flows. * Supporting the design teams providing technical expertise on tools usage and workflows. * Developing scripts to automate and improve design processes. * Debugging EDA issues including raising support tickets with tool vendors EXPERIENCE - ESSENTIALS * 15y+ of experience supporting the delivery of CMOS ASICs in advanced PDKs * Demonstrated experience interfacing foundry/aggregators with solid understanding of the fabrication deliveries and sign-off criteria. * Proficiency with the following EDA suites: Cadence Virtuoso, Siemens Calibre and Keysight ADS. * Scripting ability in most of these - Python, skill, Bash, Perl. We are seeking a Principal Research Scientist to help define and accelerate our long-term machine learning research agenda. Prior finance experience is not required. THE ROLE This role is designed for an established academic researcher or research scientist who wants to remain connected to the frontier of machine learning while applying their expertise in a highly impactful environment. You will work alongside quantitative researchers, engineers and research leadership to identify emerging research directions, evaluate new developments in machine learning, and help translate promising academic advances into practical applications. Rather than owning individual trading strategies, you will act as a scientific leader, mentor and advisor across the research organisation. You will also represent IMC externally through participation in leading conferences and engagement with the broader machine learning community. RESPONSIBILITIES * Shape the long-term machine learning research agenda within Systematic Equities. * Identify and translate advances from frontier ML research into practical opportunities. * Conduct original research and develop proof-of-concept solutions where appropriate. * Advise and mentor quantitative researchers on methodology, experimentation and research direction. * Help guide future investments in research tooling, infrastructure and compute capabilities. * Represent IMC within the global machine learning community through conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML and ICLR. * Contribute to publication efforts where appropriate and consistent with intellectual property considerations. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE * PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or a related quantitative discipline. * Outstanding academic credentials and a strong publication record in leading research venues. * Current or recent experience in a faculty-equivalent academic or research leadership role such as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Group Leader, Principal Investigator, Senior Postdoctoral Researcher, or Senior Research Scientist. * Deep expertise in modern machine learning and strong awareness of emerging research trends. * Experience influencing research direction, mentoring researchers, or leading research initiatives. * Strong programming skills and experience with modern machine learning frameworks. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING * Plan and manage the integration of cutting-edge scaling technologies developed by our R&D teams into next-generation quantum processors * Develop and coordinate integration test plans with cross-functional teams * Lead the definition and formalisation of system engineering processes across the organisation * Establish scalable, documented integration procedures to support system growth * Investigate and resolve integration issues and technical anomalies, ensuring alignment with specifications and overall performance targets YOUR PROFILE * 8+ years of experience in system engineering for deep-tech or low-volume hardware * Hands-on experience with systems exposed to extreme temperature environments (e.g., aerospace, cryogenics, telecommunications, defense) * Familiarity with superconducting technologies * A background in quantum physics, microwave/RF/electrical engineering, or a related field (PhD is a plus) * Experience with electromagnetism, semiconductor/superconductor chips, or MEMS Don't tick every box?
