About the position​ A permanent position as an Associate Professor (SKO 1011) in Quantitative Research Methodology is available at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Psychology. The position is affiliated with the Section for Methodology, Work and Organizational Psychology, Culture and Community Psychology, and Social Psychology (MAKS). The Department of Psychology is Norway’s largest provider of psychology education, offering programmes for both licensed clinical psychologists and non-clinical professionals.  The MAKS section covers basic and applied research and teaching for the Bachelor, Master, Professional (clinical) and PhD programmes within its four units. More about the position​ The methodology unit of the MAKS-section includes five permanent academic positions in quantitative methods. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in research design, statistics, and other quantitative methodologies, and supervise graduate and undergraduate student research. The successful candidate is expected to lead and initiate research, and to actively engage in and contribute to initiatives related to quantitative methods. The position also involves administrative and other duties in accordance with university regulations. Teaching-related work and administrative tasks account for 53 % of the position, while the remaining 47% is allocated to research activities. What skills are important in this role?​ Necessary requirements​ • PhD or equivalent qualification in psychology or a closely related field. Applicants who have not yet been awarded their PhD degree must document that their thesis has been submitted for evaluation by the application deadline. Appointment to the position is conditional upon the PhD degree having been awarded before the candidate takes up the position. • A documented track record of scientific publications showcasing expertise in, and practical implementations of: • Psychometrics • A range of diverse research designs, which may include quasi-experimental designs, randomized trials or survey methodology.  • Advanced data analytic approaches, which may include multivariate general and generalized models, Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), multi-level modelling, Bayesian statistics, or approaches combining quantitative data analyses with machine learning. • Documented experience in teaching and related activities, such as presentations and dissemination efforts. • Documented pedagogical skills (i.e., a certification in university pedagogics) and an ability to take active part in teaching and administrative work as well as contributing to the further development of teaching in quantitative methodology. Applicants that cannot document basic pedagogical competence at the time of employment must acquire this within the first two years subsequent to their appointment. The Department will support this certification, and the University of Oslo will offer required courses.  • Applicants must have fluent oral and written communication skills in English. Applicants who are not fluent in a Scandinavian language will have to learn Norwegian within the first three years of employment to effectively participate in the functions required by the position (documented proficiency: CEFR Independent user Level B2 or equivalent). The Department will support learning Norwegian by available courses at the University of Oslo. Associate Professor in theoretical or computational quantum technology

About the position​ A permanent position as Associate Professor in theoretical or computational quantum science and technology is available at the Department of Physics, under the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. More information about the position ​ The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Department of Physics have a strategic goal of strengthening research and educational activities in quantum science and -technology (QST). The successful applicant is expected to take a leading role in realizing this vision. QST activities in the department are growing and presently span both experimental and theoretical research, as well as quantum physics education research. On the experimental side, our main focus is on semiconductor materials for quantum sensing, and fundamental studies of quantum material properties. Theoretical activities include research on quantum information theory, quantum algorithms, quantum engineering, many-body theories for quantum technologies, quantum machine learning, and fundamental quantum science. There are strong ties to related activities in the Department of Mathematics and at the Hylleraas Center for quantum chemistry.  Two newly established research centers in quantum technology, the Centre for Defects in Semiconductors for Quantum Sensing (link) and the Centre for Quantum Computing and Applications (link), serve as important catalysts for increasing collaboration across departments and with research institutes and industry. There is also growing national, Nordic, and international collaboration in both quantum research and education. This position is focused on strengthening research and education within theoretical and/or computational QST in the department.  Job description/ main tasks ​ The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the department’s strategic effort in quantum science and -technology, with particular focus on theoretical and computational approaches. Relevant research background includes, but is not limited to, quantum algorithms, quantum optimization, quantum simulation, quantum engineering, theoretical and computational many-body physics, quantum sensing, quantum materials, and fundamental aspects of quantum science relevant to quantum technology.  The candidate’s expertise should align with and complement our existing research strengths, with the potential to deepen interaction across research sections and departments within the faculty. About the Department and what they are looking for in this position​ We invite applications for a full time position as Associate Professor in Geomechanics & Geohazards is available at the Department of Geosciences. The Department of Geosciences (GEO) ​at the University of Oslo is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science and is a leading research unit in Europe. The Department covers a wide breadth of topics, from mantle and lithosphere dynamics on Earth and other planets, via surface processes in the boundary layers between Earth’s surface and atmosphere, to the dynamics and interactions in the Earth's crust, soils, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere. The Department of Geosciences has defined a strategy focusing on four main themes that cut across the Department: 1.    Dynamics of the solid Earth and planets 2.    Climate change and the coupled Earth system 3.    Environmental geosciences 4.    Geoscience in the Arctic The Department aims to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and hosts important contributors to the IPCC (UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). The staff consists of approximately 40 professors and associate professors, in addition to postdoctoral fellows, PhD candidates, researchers, and technical and administrative staff. In total, the Department currently has around 200 employees, one Centre of Excellence and, at present, seven grants from the European Research Council (ERC), along with numerous other grants from public and private institutions. The Department is organized in six sections: • Basin Studies • Crustal Processes • Centre for Planetary Habitability [PHAB, Centre of Excellence] • Environmental Geoscience • Physical Geography and Hydrology • Meteorology and Oceanography and a group in geoscience didactics. The Department offers two bachelor study programmes “Geology and Geography” and “Geophysics and Climate” and one MSc-programme in “Geosciences”.  This position is primarily associated with the Crustal Processes section that mostly works with geological processes related to rock deformation (fracture, friction, creep), fluid flow in crustal rocks (water, gas, magma), and fluid-rock interactions. Researchers develop studies from the atomic scale to the lithospheric scale, with applications in the domains of Solid Earth geohazards, porous media, critical raw materials, and large-scale tectonics. Research in the section uses field work, analytical and imaging techniques, modelling, data science, and experiments, and aims to unravel the processes that shape the evolution of the Earth’s crust, and their effects on the environment. The section consists of 40 people, and at present is organised under a Faculty centre between Geoscience and Physics (Njord Centre). General information about the position​ Applicants must document academic qualifications in their field at a level equivalent to an Associate Professor. The position will be based at the University of Oslo. The successful candidate must be able to teach at all levels and supervise Master’s and PhD students. The successful candidate may also be required to take on other teaching duties and administrative tasks when requested by the Department or the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The working time in the position is divided approximately as follows: 45% research, 45% education, and 10% administrative tasks. Your main tasks will be​ Your main research-related tasks​ will be: • Conduct cutting-edge fundamental research with broad international impact in geomechanics with applications to geohazards (earthquakes, landslides, and other gravitational instabilities). • Develop advanced numerical models for improving the simulation, the analysis, and the prediction of geohazards, as well as the application of tools and concepts from other disciplines (e.g. physics, data science) to geomechanics. • Attract substantial external research funding (e.g., from EU Horizon programmes, the Research Council of Norway, the Norwegian Directorate for Water Resources and Energy, and related funding bodies). • Promote collaboration with external partners such as the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), the Norwegian Seismic Array (NORSAR), and other relevant institutions.   Your main teaching-related tasks​ will be to actively contribute to teaching at both bachelor’s and master’s level in topics related to geomechanics and geohazards, including landslides in granular materials and water/rock interactions.
