Your Mission
The Carpool Monetization team plays a key role at BlaBlaCar: designing and iterating on the models that monetize our core carpool activity.
We are looking for a Mid-level Backend Engineer to help us build, scale and optimize our Monetization core services. You will work on the full feature lifecycle, from early discovery and technical design to implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.
As part of a multi-stack team (3 FE engineers, 4 BE engineers, 1 PM, 1 UX Designer, 1 EM), you will contribute to initiatives such as subscriptions, freemium experience, insurance flows, ESC deployment (Energy Saving Certificates), and the rollout of monetization in new countries.
Java backend services exposed through REST APIs
Kubernetes-based infrastructure managed with Terraform
Event driven architecture with Kafka
Datadog for application and infrastructure monitoring
You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to frontend developments depending on your interests.
Your responsibilities
Develop, maintain and monitor our Monetization core services
Be responsible for the quality of the application, and contribute to improving it. Participate in design and code reviews
Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to define, develop, and deliver impactful features.
Document your work and contribute to shared knowledge and technical standards
Participate actively in continuous improvements across the team and codebase
Your qualifications
You have solid experience from companies with a strong engineering culture, within a growth context.
You are fluent in Java and know frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito.
You have hands-on experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Database at scales and monitoring solutions (e.g., Datadog).
You have a good knowledge of service-oriented and event-driven architecture, and can determine when to apply a given architectural pattern.
Strong communication skills, humility, and a collaborative mindset
Ability to balance fast iterations with high-quality delivery
You have a results-driven and impact-oriented mindset
Fluency in English

We are looking for a confirmed Backend Engineer to join the Carpool Supply team at BlaBlaCar. As part of the Carpool pillar your mission will be to "Grow long-distance carpool usage worldwide, while developing its revenues." The Carpool Supply team manages the very heart of our product: the global carpool inventory. We build and operate the backend engine that handles millions of trips published, searched, and booked across our 22 countries. This is the core of how BlaBlaCar works. Your role will be to contribute to facilitating the publication and management of drivers inventory, fostering carpool matching by providing a reliable access to the carpool supply and leveraging geographical intelligence for our backend teams. You will work within a multi-stack team of 6 backend & 3 frontend engineers. You will collaborate closely with the team's Product Manager and Product Designer to shape and implement features, and with our main consumers in the Demand squads to ensure seamless integration.

Your mission: We are seeking our Front-End Web Engineer to join the Door to Door team. This pivotal role will directly contribute to one of BlaBlaCar's key strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to rapidly iterate while also considering future system scalability.
