As our Mobile Engineer, you will own meaningful parts of our mobile application in production, from technical design to delivery and continuous improvement, while collaborating closely with the wider engineering team. * Mobile architecture & development: Contribute to the definition and evolution of our React Native architecture, while designing, developing, and refactoring features in our mobile application, with a strong focus on scalability, maintainability, and performance. * Codebase modernization: Incrementally improve an existing React Native codebase by adopting modern patterns, best practices, and platform capabilities, balancing long-term quality with short-term product needs. * Performance & user experience: Measure, profile, and optimize mobile performance (startup time, rendering, memory, caching), proactively preventing regressions and maintaining a high-quality user experience at scale. * Tooling & developer experience: Improve mobile developer productivity by evolving tooling, build systems, debugging workflows, and automations, ensuring fast feedback loops and reliable day-to-day development. * Mobile platform expertise: Provide deep React Native expertise across the team by reviewing designs and implementations, challenging assumptions, and driving better technical solutions in production. * Release & quality processes: Improve and maintain mobile CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and release automation for both iOS and Android. * API & data integration: Collaborate closely with backend teams to design and integrate robust APIs and data flows, and occasionally contribute targeted improvements to backend code to support mobile product needs. * Collaboration & mentorship: Participate in technical discussions, review code, and help raise mobile engineering standards across the team. 👀 WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR * Experience: 5+ years of mobile development experience, with clear expertise in React Native. As our Platform Engineer, you’ll shape and lead our platform efforts. You’ll be the first senior engineer focused on these topics, building on work currently spread across the team and turning it into a clear, reliable, high-leverage platform that helps everyone ship faster and safer. * Infrastructure & reliability: Own our production infrastructure end-to-end: resilience, capacity, and cost. You'll make our systems more robust as we grow, simplify where it makes sense, and turn infrastructure efficiency into a real business lever — not just an engineering concern. * Observability & incident response: Build the visibility layer that lets us catch problems before users do. You'll centralize logs and alerts across our tools, define what "healthy" looks like, and design an on-call experience that's sustainable — clear signals, fast response, no noise. * Security & access control: Raise the security bar in a way that scales with the team. You've operated at a senior or staff level and you're ready to be the first dedicated owner of these topics. * Production reliability & scale: Strong track record operating and evolving production systems (observability, incident response, scalability, reliability patterns) in environments with real traffic and high expectations. * DevOps & automation mindset: You consistently improve how engineers ship—CI/CD, releases, automation, tooling—and you care about fast feedback loops and day-to-day developer productivity. * Strong software engineering foundations: You are a strong engineer first — you write clean, testable, maintainable code and bring that rigor to platform work. You're comfortable rolling up your sleeves and contributing directly to the codebase when needed, and you see that as a natural part of the job. * Cost/performance tradeoffs: You're comfortable making pragmatic architectural decisions that balance reliability, latency, and cloud costs, with a clear focus on impact. * Security fundamentals: You have solid infrastructure security basics (permissions/IAM, secrets, least privilege, hardening). Working closely with Alex, our CTO, and alongside a small team of world-class engineers, sitting at the intersection of applied research and production. * Agent architecture: You will own the architecture of our agentic system — ensuring it constantly evolves, incorporates the latest advancements in the field, challenges existing assumptions, tests bold ideas, and pushes the boundaries of what our AI assistant can do. * Evaluation & monitoring: You will design and run robust evaluation frameworks to measure Joko AI's performance, catch regressions, and build confidence before shipping to production. * Capabilities & integrations: You will constantly expand the set of tools and capabilities that Joko AI can leverage — web search, vector search, ever-smarter catalog lookups — making the agent more resourceful, faster, and more reliable at scale. * Catalog & data at scale: Great recommendations start with great data. You've operated at a senior or staff level and you're used to owning ambitious projects from design to production. * Track record: You've ideally built production AI systems that real users rely on, and you care deeply about code quality, separation of concerns, and testing. * Technical skills: You are deeply familiar with agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalents), LLM observability tools (LangFuse or equivalents), LLM APIs, and evaluation tooling for AI systems. An AI/ML background or degree is a strong plus, but not a blocker. * Builder's mindset: You love building from scratch. You are not precious about your ideas — you ship, test, learn, and iterate fast. * Full-stack spirit: You are comfortable going from AI logic to infrastructure to frontend prototyping when needed.
