OUR STORY: 🇪🇺 Join Scaleway and shape the sovereign cloud of tomorrow ! Since 1999, we have been designing secure, sustainable infrastructures aimed at supporting the most ambitious companies. Historically known for our dedicated servers (Dedibox), we made a strategic shift to cloud computing in 2015. Staying true to our principles of simplicity, flexibility, and technical excellence, we have become one of the leading players in Europe in the sector. With the rise of artificial intelligence, we have strengthened our commitment, supported by the Iliad Group, which is investing €3 billion to develop a serious, sovereign AI alternative to American and Asian giants. Every day, thanks to our fast-growing portfolio of cloud and AI products (bare metal, containerization, serverless, AI, etc.), Scaleway proudly serves thousands of customer across the private and public sector, from corporations like France Télévisions or Hachette Livre, to fast-growing startups like Photoroom and Biolevate, to institutions like the City of Copenhagen. 📍 Our offices are located in Paris, Lille, Toulouse, Rennes, Rouen, Bordeaux and Lyon. WHY WE NEED YOU? Our growth is driving us to strengthen our HDV tribe within the Hardware Operations team to support the development of a major new project and manage our expanding infrastructure. Your mission will be to develop and maintain a variety of software solutions, from internal scripting to complex SaaS platforms, in order to bridge the gap between software excellence and hardware performance within our sovereign cloud. YOUR FUTURE TEAM You will join a tight-knit, high-impact squad of 6 people (including an Engineering Manager and a Tech Lead) dedicated to building QCS - the core software engine powering our physical infrastructure. We operate at the rare intersection of robust application software and data center hardware. The Mix: Our team balances core Python development, complex React frontends, and automated IaC pipelines. You will work alongside peers who understand both code architecture and physical infrastructure constraints. How We Work: We run on a lightweight Scrum framework, prioritizing engineering excellence, clean design patterns, and high-impact project milestones. The Scaler Spirit: We thrive in a highly collaborative, international environment. We value open technical debates, continuous knowledge sharing, and giving every engineer the autonomy to shape the product. YOUR DAILY ROUTINE Develop Core Product Features: Write clean, structured application code in Python to power our hardware update, testing, and inventory systems Own Your Domain (Frontend or DevOps): Depending on your track, you will either architect complex React/TypeScript admin interfaces or manage our Proxmox clusters, secrets, and automated deployments using Terraform and Ansible. Bridge Low-Level to High-Level: Work on a diverse codebase ranging from hardware-level data collection to web APIs. Drive a New Infrastructure Initiative: Partner with the team to design and ship the next major milestones of our next-generation architecture. Keep the Foundation Rock-Solid: Optimize, refactor, and test a significant volume of existing code to guarantee stability during long-running hardware validation tests. Maintain Engineering Excellence: Participate in rigorous peer code reviews, champion clean architecture, and engage in lightweight Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprints, retros). ABOUT YOU HARDSKILLS: Your major – Core Software Engineering (Essential): Strong proficiency in Applicative Python: You are a software engineer at heart. You care about clean code, architecture, testing, API design, and building robust backend systems. You have at least 4 years of experience writing structured application code. Your minor – Choose Your Secondary Strength (At least one):You don’t need to know our entire stack, but you should bring professional experience in at least one of these cross-cutting areas: The Frontend Track: Experience building highly responsive web applications using React and TypeScript. Proficient in modern state management and data-fetching patterns. Comfortable handling complex asynchronous states, long-polling, or real-time updates. The DevOps/IaC Track: Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation pipelines. Ansible and Terraform to provision virtualized clusters (Proxmox, …), building robust GitLab CI/CD workflows using Docker containers, and/or deploying/managing core APIs on Kubernetes. Orchestrating service VMs and automating system-level scripts or image builds is highly valued. Nice to have: The Systems Track: Solid foundations in Linux Sysadmin, networking protocols (VLANs, routing), bare-metal provisioning (DHCP, PXE, TFTP), or building custom Linux OS images (e.g., debootstrap/casper/mkosi). Bonus points if you've ever interacted with physical hardware labs or configuration management (like NX-OS). WHAT IF YOU HAVE LIGHT/NO EXPERIENCE IN THE OTHER MINOR TRACKS OR DON’T KNOW THE SYSTEMS SIDE ? Apply anyway. We know this is a highly specialized stack sitting at the intersection of bare-metal hardware and cloud software. We do not expect you to be an expert in everything on day one. What we do require is intense technical curiosity. SOFT SKILLS: Ability to work autonomously within a structured Scrum environment Highly involved, conscientious, and proactive in project delivery Excellent communicator with a collaborative "OneTeam" mindset Humble and open to constructive feedback Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills Continuous learner, eager to pick up new technologies and bridge technical gaps across our stack WHAT YOU WILL FIND AT SCALEWAY ++++ Hybrid work: We offer up to 3 days of remote work per week. Offices: Our offices are spacious, dynamic workspaces with bold design, conveniently located near public transport. Most of our offices feature outdoor spaces (terraces) and bike parking facilities. Dining: Our chef provides a healthy meal service at the headquarters, and breakfast is available across all our sites year-round. Scalers working from regional sites enjoy a Swile card for lunches. Well-being commitments: Whether it’s access to a gym, daycare places, or discounted services for caring services, Scaleway is committed to supporting Scalers in maintaining a balanced life.
