Whether it’s a classic car, a watch, a painting or a rare stamp, they all need to arrive in the hands of the buyer, and only when the item is according to the description, will we proceed with the pay-out to the Seller. As simple as this sounds, there are many things that can go wrong in this process and with hundreds of thousands of objects in all shapes and sizes, we need to ensure that we help this process go smooth and easy. As we’re rapidly expanding, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager Shipping to strengthen our team of high performing Product Managers, Engineers, Designers and Data Scientists to scale our business.  As a Sr. PM Shipping at Catawiki, you will work with a multidisciplinary team within our Fulfilment vertical to: * Relentlessly focus on what’s best for our customers and our business. * Empower our Sellers and Buyers with the most convenient ways and processes to ship and receive their desired object. * Responsible for selecting new, and maintaining the relationships with existing, shipping partners. * Manage the process of giving and receiving feedback to the seller. * Understand and identify customer behaviour and needs through research and analysis. * Analyse, understand and share learnings from experimentation to build a strong knowledge base of the product. * Contribute to the overall Product Vision and Strategy for this core part of our value proposition. * Strong stakeholder management and partnership with the commercial organization in Catawiki and specifically the shipping operations team * Take ownership of anything related to shipping, the roadmap and prioritisation of new features and enhancements to existing features. Examples: * Working with various carriers across the world * Working with shipping aggregators * Find projects to make shipping costs more fair * Improve the quality of the overall shipping experience for buyers and sellers * Execute on that roadmap with clear expected outcomes and meticulous measurement. * Empower your team and cross-collaborate with other teams and stakeholders across the company to unlock their full potential. * Manage and work closely with your stakeholders: the commercial teams, Customer support teams, and the experts, to get the best ideas in and subsequently get everyone aligned for fast implementation. * Get. You have a real passion for the craft and are an active learner who gets excited by the variety that consultancy brings: different clients, different stacks, different problems. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL LOOK LIKE THIS: * Delivering data work on client engagements: pipelines, transformation layers, models, and the infrastructure around them * Adapting to different client contexts, legacy warehouse migrations, greenfield lakehouses, struggling transformation layers that need rescuing * Defining and evolving our internal standards for data work: testing, documentation, project structure, code review * Mentoring and growing data engineers across the company * Showing up for client team moments (internal speakers, learning sessions, social events) to build strong working relationships. * Contributing to proposals and helping shape engagements during the sales process * Representing YLD externally through writing, speaking, and contributing to the wider data community. YOU’LL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: * SQL as engineering: You write SQL that's reviewable, testable, and performs at scale. You understand query planning, engine quirks, and how materialisation choices affect cost and performance * Python for data: You write typed, testable Python for pipelines and tooling. You've built and maintained production data systems, not just notebooks * Data modelling: You've made deliberate choices between dimensional, Data Vault, normalised, and denormalised designs. You can explain those trade-offs in terms of flexibility, query performance, and maintainability * Transformation architecture: You design transformations that are idempotent, incremental, and dependency-aware. You think in DAGs, not scripts * Pipeline design: You understand batch, streaming, and micro-batch trade-offs. You consider latency, complexity, cost, and reprocessability. And choose the right approach for the problem * Data testing: You write tests as code, schema contracts, assertions, and transformation logic. You know what to catch at build time vs. defer to observability * Data observability: You treat data reliability like site reliability. Measurable indicators, alerting, incident response, and root cause analysis * CI/CD for data: You version, test, and deploy pipelines like software. PREFERRED SKILLS * Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and/or Go, with the ability to rapidly learn new languages; * Experience with modern frameworks across the stack (FastAPI, Gin, Express, etc.); * Production experience with React, modern build tools, state management, responsive design, and accessibility standards; * Comprehensive testing experience (unit, integration, E2E, security) and performance optimization; * Scalable system design patterns, load balancing, and high-availability architectures; * Database design and optimization (both relational and NoSQL); * API development (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and event-driven architectures; * Caching strategies and message queue systems (Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ); * Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes); * CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation); * Monitoring, observability, and performance optimisation tools; * You can keep a cool head when debugging production issues; * Use AI tools to augment your work, applying sound judgement to adopt emerging technologies where they genuinely add value and increase your impact as an engineer.
