DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The AI Engineering team at Rohlik drives automation and smart decision-making across the company. We design and optimize AI-driven systems, from ETL pipelines to autonomous AI agents, and integrate them with public APIs, LLMs, and databases. Working closely with Product, Data, and Tech teams, we create scalable, data-powered solutions that improve both customer-facing products and internal operations. ROLE OVERVIEW The purpose of this role is to architect and develop both internal AI automation systems and customer-facing AI-powered systems (such as text and voice chatbots, recommendation systems, etc.) that shape the future of online retail. The AI Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, evaluating, and maintaining core AI services and components that enable efficient decision-making across the organization and enhance the customer experience. These systems operate at a large scale, handling hundreds of concurrent requests across our e-commerce and logistics platforms. You will also act as an advocate for AI-driven transformation, bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and practical, user-centric product features. You will join a dynamic AI Engineering team at the intersection of retail and technology. Senior Backend Engineer (Main Application Team)

ABOUT THE ROLE We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our MAT – Backend (Main Application Team). In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing and evolving the backend systems that power Rossum’s core product, supporting complex document processing workflows and data flows used by customers at scale. This role goes beyond implementation; our engineers knew that technical debt and scalability were problems we needed to solve, and we’re looking for you to help shape those solutions. You’ll work closely with Product, Frontend, and other Backend teams to deliver features that balance immediate needs with long-term maintainability. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will be a critical contributor to our backend efforts, managing day-to-day operations while identifying strategic improvements to keep our systems reliable and easy to build on.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: * Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs in Rossum’s core platform. * Take ownership of larger backend features or components from initial design through to production. * Write high-quality, well-tested code with a constant focus on scalability, reliability, and security. * Partner across departments, participating in code reviews to offer constructive guidance and collaborating with Frontend and Product teams. * Proactively identify and address performance, reliability, and operational issues to drive technical excellence.   WHO YOU ARE We’re looking for a peer who is a "bullshit-free" problem solver and isn't afraid to challenge assumptions.
