We’re building Prometheus: autonomous drone swarms designed for GPS-denied and signal-denied environments—with no pilot, no
constant radio link, and no external compute. The goal is simple: when drones stop being tools and start being teammates.
Instead of “programming missions”, operators state intent—“Search the second floor.” “Map the west wing and find trapped
people.”—and the swarm executes, returns to dock, recharges, and continues. We’re now moving from “it works” to reliability,
productization, pilots, and real deployments—that’s the phase where great engineering matters most.
You’ll own the next-generation Prometheus drone hardware and the dock. Your job is to take what a small team prototyped and turn
it into something we can confidently put into customers’ hands for industrial inspection / indoor operations, with 24/7 capability
via docking + self-charging or automatic battery hot-swap.
This is a builder role: design → prototype → break → iterate → harden → repeat. Minimal meetings. High ownership.
This is not a research-only role. In the early phase, you will also build and assemble drones and docks for customers in low
volumes, take responsibility for practical quality checks, and fix things that break in the field. Over time, manufacturing will
move to a dedicated process/team, but initially this role includes hands-on building, testing, and pragmatic QA. This role is
focused on raising technology readiness (TRL) — turning prototypes into repeatable, reliable hardware suitable for pilots and
early customers, not exploratory research.

About Six Robotics At Six Robotics, we build intelligent software that gives Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) the ability to collaborate, adapt on the fly, and execute missions that were previously impossible. From our base in Oslo, our 50+ experts in defence, software, and AI develop Valkyrie, our flagship autonomy and swarm platform used by both government and industry. In close partnership with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), we move fast from concept to live deployment, often in the field alongside end users. We work with advanced hardware and software, a modern tech stack, and missions that demand both technical mastery and operational discipline. Everyone is close to the action, from deep technical problem-solving to field operations. We move fast and value clarity, integrity, and teamwork in everything we do. At Six Robotics, every person executes with precision, adapts to changing conditions, and strengthens the team. Getting in is hard, and you’ll be challenged every day. But if you have the skill, the discipline, and the drive to push your limits and always be sharpening your blade, you’ll find no better place to deliver real-world impact while collaborating and learning from the best in the field. About The Role We are hiring both Software Engineers and Senior Software Engineers who will work primarily in Rust to strengthen and scale the backend of our Ground Control Station (GCS) – the system used by drone operators to plan, monitor, and control missions. This role is appealing if you are excited about Rust as a modern systems language and want to help shape how it is used in a real-world, production-critical environment. We want to increase competence, raise the engineering bar, and build a robust Rust ecosystem internally. However, the primary goal is not to “write Rust for Rust’s sake.” The goal is to build reliable backend systems, APIs, and integrations that operators depend on. Rust is the tool. Solid engineering is the mission. You will join Grounded, the team that builds and maintains the backend powering our Ground Control Station. This includes developing the APIs used for interfacing with edge devices (drones), frontends (UI), integrating with third-party systems (BMS) and telemetry platforms. Being part of the Grounded team you are building the hub that connects multiple parts of the product into one coherent system. After six months in the role, success means you have shipped one or more substantial features to production and taken ownership of parts of the backend. You have improved system quality and influenced architectural decisions, while also helping raise the bar for how we use Rust internally, contributing to stronger practices, patterns, and technical direction. What You Will Do • Develop and extend backend features for the Ground Control Station (GCS) • Design and implement APIs for edge, frontend, and external integrations • Interface with third-party systems and services • Improve Rust tooling, conventions, and best practices within the team • Contribute to a gradual and pragmatic transition from C++ to Rust where appropriate • Contribute to backend authentication and security What we are looking for We are looking for Software Engineers with a strong engineering mindset who care deeply about system quality, structure, and long-term maintainability. You take pride not only in writing clean and robust code, but in improving the product as a whole. You think about how your technical decisions translate into value for real end users, and you are motivated by building systems that operate reliably in critical, real-world contexts where performance, correctness, and usability truly matter. You may already have solid Rust experience, or you may come from C++/Go or another systems/backend background with a strong interest in Rust. What matters most is that you understand quality backend systems at scale, think holistically, and write code that by default is maintainable and robust. You are motivated by quality and ownership. You want to improve systems, not just complete tasks. You care about architecture, robustness, and correctness, and you are comfortable contributing to technical direction as well as implementation. We believe the right candidate brings • 2+ years (5+ years for senior level) of professional software engineering experience, with a strong engineering and quality mindset focused on building robust, production-grade systems rather than prototypes. • Professional experience with Rust, or strong experience in an adjacent systems/backend language (such as C++ or Go) combined with recent hands-on Rust development • Solid backend or systems development experience • Strong Linux fundamentals • Highly efficient and structured technical communication skills, expressing decisions and trade-offs in a clear manner • Fluent in English (Norwegian not required) Nice-to-haves: • Experience from adjacent systems and backend technologies such as C++ or Go • Experience building server/cloud-based systems • Experience designing and maintaining APIs • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) • Exposure to advanced network configuration, video pipelines, or infrastructure environments involving Kubernetes and cloud deployment. • Having built asynchronous services or gRPC-based systems using Protobuf in a microservices architecture. Experience working with distributed systems and service-to-service communication would be valuable for this role Why You Should Join At Six Robotics, we're not just building software - we're redefining how unmanned systems operate in the real world. If you're driven by meaningful problems, technical depth, and the chance to shape something from the ground up, you'll find your place here. • Work on problems that matter Our technology helps unlock smarter, safer, and more adaptable UAV operations in defense and industry, solving real challenges with direct, tangible impact. • Lead the shift in a hardware-dominated space We're bringing modern AI, autonomy, and scalable software into a field that's long relied on rigid, pre-programmed systems, to change how UAVs are designed, deployed, and managed. • Build from zero, shape the future Join early and help define the core systems, tools, and culture of a company that’s still being built - where your ideas, code, and decisions will have a lasting influence. • Work with purpose, supported by great benefits You'll be part of a mission-driven team that values clarity, integrity, and collaboration, offering competitive pay, equity potential, strong insurance and pension plans, and ongoing learning opportunities. Our Recruitment Process • Screening interview with one of our recruiters to get to know you better (30 min). • Meet & Greet with someone from the team to learn more about us (60 min). • Programming assignment to be solved in your own time, followed by a technical interview (90 min). • Final interview with our CTO and Head of People (45 min) Reference check followed by an offer if everything goes well. About The Role At Six Robotics, we know that achieving our mission requires more than great engineers; it requires an exceptional engineering environment. That’s where you come in. We are building a self-hosted Kubernetes cluster that will serve as a multi-purpose platform for internal web services, CI runners, remote devcontainers, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments. This is not about maintaining an existing setup. It is about designing and implementing the foundation from scratch. Your mission follows this: to design, implement, and operationalize a highly available and scalable Kubernetes cluster that is adopted by developers and actively serving at least one of its intended purposes within the first six months. You will be part of Team Factory, which builds the internal infrastructure and tooling that engineering depends on. This is a role with real ownership, where there is room to become the key Kubernetes contributor in the company. What You Will Do • Design and implement a highly available, self-hosted Kubernetes cluster • Own cluster architecture, scalability, and lifecycle management • Build a multi-purpose cluster supporting staging, production, CI runners, and remote dev containers. • Develop internal tooling in Python and contribute to Kubernetes-specific components in Go where relevant • Design resource-aware workload orchestration with priority- and capability-aware queueing mechanisms. • Expose and integrate Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) setups into the platform What we are looking for We are looking for a Senior Engineer who understands Kubernetes beyond surface-level usage. You are comfortable operating between application developers and bare-metal infrastructure, and you proactively propose solutions rather than waiting for direction. You are motivated by ownership. You want to design something properly, build it, and maintain it over time. You thrive in environments where responsibility is real, and the technical bar is high. You think about how your technical decisions translate into value for real end users, and you are motivated by being part of building something that operates reliably in critical, real-world contexts where performance, correctness, and usability truly matter. We believe the right candidate brings: • 5+ years of relevant experience in platform, infrastructure, or backend engineering • Strong Kubernetes experience as a power user and at cluster-architecture level, not only deploying workloads • Experience designing and operating self-hosted or on-prem Kubernetes environments • Solid software engineering background and mindset, with comfort in languages like Python (for internal tooling) and Go • Strong Linux fundamentals • Experience with Docker and GitHub Actions • Highly efficient and structured technical communication skills, expressing decisions and trade-offs in a clear manner • Fluent in English (Norwegian not required) Nice-to-haves: • Experience with GitHub Actions Runner Controller (ARC) • Dynamic VLAN configuration • OpenStack • Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments • Building internal developer platforms • Bare-metal-as-a-service concepts • On-prem infrastructure management Why You Should Join At Six Robotics, we're not just building software - we're redefining how unmanned systems operate in the real world. 🚀 JOIN SE3 LABS AS (SENIOR) TECHNICAL FIELD ENGINEER — ROBOTICS INTEGRATION & DEPLOYMENT Be the person who makes advanced autonomous systems work in the real world. Move across the full stack: drones, sensors, calibration, autonomy software, perception, networking, payloads, field operations, and partner environments. When the system is not mission-ready, you create clarity, find the root cause, and help make it robust. ABOUT SE3 SE3 Labs is building Spatial AI by combining 3D computer vision with large language models. We believe the ability to reason about and act within physical space is foundational to unlocking the next generation of automation, from construction to smart infrastructure, and ultimately, defence. Now, we’re bringing Spatial AI into the sky through high-performance UAVs that can perceive, localize, coordinate, and act in the real world. This requires more than strong algorithms and good hardware. It requires systems that can be configured, calibrated, tested, deployed, demonstrated, debugged, and improved under real field conditions. We’re looking for a hands-on engineer who wants to work close to the product, close to the field, and close to the full autonomy stack. Someone who is not limited to one layer, but follows the problem wherever it leads. ABOUT THE ROLE As (Senior) Technical Field Engineer — Robotics Integration & Deployment, you will own the last mile between SE3’s engineering team and real-world use. You will bring together UAVs, payloads, sensors, onboard compute, autonomy software, operator tools, and partner environments into systems that are ready to fly, test, demonstrate, and deploy. This is a highly hands-on, full-stack field engineering role. When something is not working, you go where the evidence leads: recalibrate a sensor, solve an issue in the perception stack, debug a radio link, inspect a harness, analyse a flight log, adapt an autonomy behavior, fix a configuration issue, improve a checklist, or bring the right evidence back to the engineering team. The problems you will work on are complex, dynamic, and multivariable. You will often have partial information, limited time, imperfect tools, and a system where hardware, software, environment, and operator behavior interact in non-obvious ways. Your job is to create clarity, choose the right debugging path, and drive the system toward a robust long-term solution. You will work closely with perception, robotics software, embedded, hardware, and flight-test teams. You will not just operate systems; you will make them better. Your work will determine how quickly SE3 moves from prototype to repeatable deployment, from demo to product, and from individual systems to operational fleets. WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON * Create Clarity in complex situations: Separate symptoms from root causes, know when to trust intuition and when not to, devise efficient debugging workflows, reproduce failures, analyse logs, and drive lasting solutions that make the system more robust long term. * Cross-Stack Engineering: Move across hardware, software, sensors, calibration, perception, networking, autonomy, and operator workflows. When the root cause requires it, contribute directly to the layer that matters, from sensor calibration and deployment configuration to perception-stack behavior, autonomy logic, networking, or hardware integration. * Autonomy & System Integration: Bring together UAVs, payloads, onboard compute, cameras, IMUs, radios, ground stations, autonomy software, operator interfaces, and deployment tooling into field-ready systems. Configure and validate perception-stack behavior, mission logic, autonomy behaviors, operator workflows, and system responses under real operating conditions. * Tooling, Automation & AI Workflows: Build and use intelligent debugging, analysis, and agent-based workflows to understand complex system behavior faster. Improve scripts, checklists, dashboards, log pipelines, diagnostics, configuration tools, and deployment workflows. * Testing & Acceptance: Define and run acceptance tests for platforms, payloads, software releases, and deployment configurations. Own readiness checks across calibration, software flashing, networking, sensors, and pre-mission setup. Make readiness measurable, repeatable, and hard to fake. * Fieldability Ownership: Spot design flaws, integration gaps, recurring failure modes, and process bottlenecks. Turn field evidence into better hardware, software, procedures, and product decisions. * Field Service & Deployment: Install, configure, maintain, and support SE3 systems at test ranges, customer sites, partner demonstrations, exercises, and real-world deployments. Make sure our autonomous platforms perform reliably where it matters. * Partner & End-User Interface: Demonstrate systems to partners and end users, support training, translate field feedback into engineering requirements, and represent SE3 with technical credibility outside the lab. YOUR PROFILE * Most importantly, you’re structured, fast-moving, and mission-driven. You don’t wait for perfect information. You create clarity, iterate fast, and prefer finding and fixing root causes over applying patches. * You hold a B.Sc., M.Sc. PhD, technical apprenticeship, military technical training, or equivalent practical background in Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, or a related field. * You bring hands-on experience integrating, testing, operating, or troubleshooting complex robotic, UAV, embedded, automotive, industrial automation, or defence systems. * You are comfortable moving between hardware and software: Linux systems, sensors, radios, flight controllers, payloads, power systems, mechanical interfaces, networking, and operator tools. * You can read logs, inspect telemetry, use a command line, run scripts, flash devices, debug configurations, trace network issues, and communicate findings clearly. * You are not afraid of real hardware and field constraints. You use the right tools, inspect connectors, diagnose wiring or power issues, work with lab equipment, and stay systematic when the problem is messy. * You enjoy working directly with partners, operators, and end users. You can explain technical problems clearly, build trust in stressful situations, and represent SE3 professionally outside the lab. * You are proactive, hands-on, and willing to travel for field tests, partner demonstrations, and deployments across Europe and other strategic markets. * You speak fluent English; German is a strong plus. A driving license is required. Given the nature of SE3’s work in the defence sector, candidates must be eligible to work on defence-related projects and, where required, obtain the relevant security clearance. ESPECIALLY VALUED BONUS SKILLS * Experience with ROS2, Docker, Linux, edge compute devices, C++/Python, Bash, Git, or deployment automation. * Experience with UAVs, PX4, ArduPilot, QGroundControl, Mission Planner, MAVLink, flight logs, mission planning, and airspace coordination. * Experience with networking and radio systems, including WiFi networks, LTE/5G modems, VPNs, telemetry links, antenna placement, RF interference, tactical communication links, and debugging connectivity issues in the field. * Experience soldering, crimping, repairing harnesses, using multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, serial consoles, or other lab and field equipment. * Experience with perception or autonomy systems, especially localisation, camera/IMU calibration, sensor synchronization, object detection, mapping, navigation, or mission autonomy. * Experience interpreting sensor data, robot logs, flight logs, frequency-domain data, vibration issues, EMI issues, thermal issues, or intermittent hardware failures. * Experience with environmental testing such as vibration, thermal, ingress protection, EMI/EMC, or MIL-STD-style qualification workflows. * Experience creating acceptance tests, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, fleet dashboards, release checklists, or field-support processes. PERKS & BENEFITS * Real Ownership: Get equity early, real stock options to participate directly in SE3’s growth * Work Environment to Excel at: Find a high-quality and modern toolset, flat hierarchy and a skilled, driven team which will push the limits together with you. We are an AI-first company empowering every employee with best-in-class AI tools and agents, giving you unlimited access to the latest advancements and a true productivity edge. * 31 Paid Days Off: 30 vacation days plus your birthday off * Well-being Access: Free membership to gyms, yoga, and wellness through EGYM Wellpass * Team Offsites: We go on 2 company retreats per year, our last ones were in Italy and Greece * Mentorship: Work closely with experienced engineers and get paired with a professional mentor to support your growth OUR PROCESS 1.
