About the job This position is needed to define and drive architectural vision, strategy, and alignment across multiple products and domains at company scale. As a senior-most technical leader, you’ll set long-term technical vision, establish architectural guardrails, and ensure coherence across distributed systems and platforms. You will drive cross-organizational initiatives, solve complex and ambiguous technical challenges, and elevate the technical standard for Twilio company-wide. Responsibilities In this role, you'll: * Set and communicate long-term architectural vision, aligning teams and leadership across Twilio. * Lead cross-product architecture reviews, standardize engineering practices, and drive foundational technical investments. * Solve the most complex, ambiguous technical challenges at platform and company-wide scale. * Mentor and guide principal and staff engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement. * Partner closely with product, engineering, and executive leaders to shape strategic direction and technical investments. Required: * 15+ years of experience designing and scaling distributed systems and platforms. * Demonstrated ability to set technical vision and strategy at an enterprise or company-wide level. * Expertise in system design, reliability, scalability, security, and cost optimization for large-scale architectures. * Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and resolving highly complex, ambiguous technical problems. * Proven record of mentoring senior engineering talent and elevating organizational standards. * Exceptional written and verbal communication, influence, and leadership skills. * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). Desired: * Experience in cloud-native, multi-region systems and architecture patterns. * History of driving adoption of engineering standards across multiple business units or product lines. * Experience with observability, platform capabilities, and data architecture at scale. * Open-source project leadership or significant external technical impact. * Prior experience in high-growth SaaS, communications, or platform companies Location  This role will be remote, and based in India (Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamilnadu). You will lead the development of high-scale ingestion and data processing systems You'll guide the team in designing, operating and maintaining complex distributed systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency while querying petabytes of data for our customer data platform (CDP). DESCRIPTION Sinch Telco is a standalone business within Sinch. Our products propel communications services for mobile operators and enterprises around the globe. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer with focus on AI-driven Development, to accelerate adoption of AI-powered development practices across Sinch Telco. In this role, you’ll be a hands-on practitioner, leveraging AI agents to design, build and deliver software while shaping how AI is applied in real engineering environments. Together we will move toward a paradigm where software developers manage teams of specialized virtual AI agents for requirements analysis, implementation, testing, documentation, and deployment. We intend to unlock new capabilities that enable teams to build and ship faster with higher quality, security, and maintainability. As our Principal Software Engineer, you will: Act as a highly productive, hands-on software engineer using AI agent orchestration to deliver features and products across multiple areas Define, evolve, and scale best practices, workflows, and tooling for AI-assisted development across coding, testing, documentation, and deployment. Evaluate, select, and configure emerging AI development tools and agent frameworks. Create reusable agent configurations, custom instructions, and workflows tailored to the organization's codebases. Partner with engineers, architects, and product managers to define clear requirements and product direction using a product management-informed perspective. REQUIREMENTS 8+ years of software engineering experience with proven ability to design, evaluate, and evolve software architectures. Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and system integration. Experience with telecom systems, BSS/OSS, messaging infrastructure, or CPaaS is a plus. Hands-on experience applying AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Cursor, Claude, in real-world software delivery, not just experimentation. Experience working with AI-driven and agent-based development workflows, including autonomous coding agents and multistep task orchestration. Ability to define clear, structured, and decomposable requirements for both engineers and AI agents, with strong product awareness and understanding of the “why” behind solutions. Practical experience with Model Context Protocol, tool-use patterns, or equivalent integration standards for reliable multi-agent/tool orchestration. Experience with multi-agent frameworks such as CrewAI, AutoGen, LangGraph is a plus. Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts, document approaches, and collaborate effectively across teams.
