We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead teams building AI-assisted engineering workflows. This role will partner with
engineering leaders in infrastructure, developer productivity, security, product engineering, ads, machine learning, and senior
technical leadership to make AI-native development safe, measurable, scalable, and effective across Reddit.
Reddit is entering a new era of software development. AI and agentic workflows are changing how code is planned, written,
reviewed, tested, and shipped. Used well, these tools can help engineers move faster with higher confidence. Used poorly, they can
increase complexity, review burden, operational risk, and cost. This role will help Reddit build the path for agentic development:
flexible enough for teams to experiment, opinionated enough to protect quality, and measurable enough to prove whether AI is
increasing delivered value rather than just activity. Just as importantly, this role will help bring teams along for that change,
building trust in new workflows and helping Reddit evolve how we build software together.
The Developer Productivity organization builds the platforms, systems, and workflows that enable Reddit engineers to develop,
test, review, deploy, and operate software safely and efficiently at scale. We work across infrastructure, AI tooling, developer
environments, CI/CD, observability, code review, and software delivery systems to reduce friction, improve engineering
effectiveness, and help teams focus on delivering impact for Reddit users.
As AI and agentic workflows reshape software development, Developer Productivity is helping define how Reddit builds software in
the future. We are creating the foundations for AI-native engineering: scalable platforms for LLM access and evaluation, safe
agent workflows, intelligent development environments, and measurement systems that help teams understand whether new tools are
improving outcomes, not just increasing activity. We partner closely with engineering teams across Reddit to build paved paths
that support experimentation while maintaining the quality, reliability, security, and operational standards required to run
Reddit at scale.
You will lead teams across Reddit's Developer Productivity and AI portfolio, spanning agent infrastructure, AI-assisted code
review, developer environments, LLM governance, developer tooling, AI workflow measurement, and software delivery automation. You
will partner deeply with engineering teams as a technical leader, balancing execution, organizational alignment, technical
quality, and long-term platform strategy.

MongoDB’s Developer Productivity organization exists to help engineers build and deliver high-quality software through a highly effective software development process and a strong foundation of shared tools and services. We are looking for a Senior Director to lead our Pipeline team. This role is tasked with bringing together the major systems and experiences that power software delivery at MongoDB. The team’s mission is to provide a reliable, scalable, secure, and effective platform for ensuring fast software deployability, leveraging AI native approaches. We are open to in-office, flexible or remote hiring across Canada. THE TEAM The Pipeline organization sits within Developer Productivity and is responsible for the systems, services, and user experiences that define MongoDB’s software delivery ecosystem. This is mission-critical infrastructure operating at substantial scale and supports a variety of software product delivery needs. Success in this role requires excellent product judgment for developer-facing experiences, strong systems and platform leadership, and the ability to align multiple teams around a cohesive strategy. CANDIDATE PROFILE We’re looking for a senior engineering leader who can unify product-minded developer tooling with deep platform and operational excellence. The right candidate is passionate about developer productivity and has a track record of leading managers and teams through organizational growth, technical complexity, and cross-functional change. They should be comfortable owning a broad portfolio that spans developer experience, reliability and scale, release systems, telemetry, and operational health. They should also be able to work effectively with senior leaders and partners across engineering and product to set direction, allocate resources, and make trade-offs that balance near-term delivery with long-term platform function. THE RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE WILL * 12+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building and operating production systems; experience in developer tooling, platform engineering, observability, or data engineering is a strong plus. * 6+ years of experience managing multiple teams and building a strong bench of leaders in a geographically distributed organization with a track-record of success in hiring, performance management, and fostering a team growth mindset. * Have a track record of scaling large software systems used by software engineers, ideally including CI/CD, release, or other developer infrastructure platforms with large scale workloads. * Bring strong judgment across both developer-facing product experience and underlying platform architecture, including user workflows, system reliability, operational insight, and service scalability. * Have experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code principles; experience with Kubernetes and AWS is especially valuable. * Understand how to use telemetry, metrics, and analytics to improve developer productivity and operational health. * Have experience or strong familiarity with software supply chain and release concerns, including reliability, security, and operational rigor. * Be able to define strategy and drive execution in ambiguous environments with broad organizational impact, acting as a trusted escalation point for complex technical and organizational trade-offs. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Own the strategy, execution, and operating model for MongoDB’s end-to-end software delivery pipeline across continuous integration and release enablement functions. * Set portfolio priorities and resource allocation in partnership with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, balancing urgent delivery needs with long-term platform investments. * Improve the experience of internal engineering users while also raising the bar on reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency. * Establish and evolve mechanisms for measuring developer productivity, system health, and business impact across the pipeline portfolio. * Build a healthy, high-performing organization by growing managers, strengthening succession depth, and creating clarity around expectations, accountability, and career development. * Serve as a senior escalation point for critical trade-offs and cross-functional issues, ensuring decisions are aligned to company priorities and understood in terms of their downstream consequences. POSITIVE EXPECTATIONS * Leads a large, strategic organization with a positive and inclusive culture while setting a high bar for accountability and execution. * Demonstrates mastery of both verbal and written communication to navigate a global organizational structure that utilizes a mix of synchronous and asynchronous engagement. * Collaborates effectively with leadership and partner teams to coordinate priorities, improve processes, and strengthen MongoDB’s software development ecosystem. * Makes sound decisions on planning, staffing, and organizational structure, and knows when to optimize locally versus for the broader business. * Acts like an owner for MongoDB’s broader engineering success, not just the direct organization they lead. SUCCESS MEASURES * In three months, you have built strong relationships with your managers and key partners, assessed the current pipeline portfolio, and identified the highest-leverage opportunities across reliability, developer experience. * In six months, you have established a strategic direction and roadmap for the Pipeline organization, advising on structure and long-term investment choices, and operating as a trusted escalation point for major delivery and platform trade-offs. * In twelve months, you have accelerated ABOUT MONGODB MongoDB is built for change, empowering our customers and our people to innovate at the speed of the market.
