As Senior Counsel, Product on the Product Legal team, you'll serve as the primary legal partner to product, engineering, and design teams building stablecoins, payments, and crypto infrastructure at Coinbase. This team provides full product life-cycle counseling across some of the most novel areas in fintech and crypto law. You'll shape how Coinbase navigates complex regulatory landscapes while shipping products that bring crypto into the financial mainstream, advising from ideation through launch and collaborating cross-functionally with Privacy, Regulatory, Compliance, and Finance. What you'll do: * Own the legal advisory relationship for stablecoin, payments, and crypto infrastructure product teams, providing day-to-day legal, business, and strategic counsel throughout the product life cycle. * Advise product managers and engineers on U.S. and international regulatory requirements, including money transmission laws, the GENIUS Act, NYDFS BitLicense, banking regulations, e-money issuance, securities regulation, and BSA compliance. * Drive resolution of novel legal issues by identifying risks, partnering with specialized colleagues across Legal, and engaging outside counsel where needed. * Partner cross-functionally with Compliance, Communications, Finance, Tax, Security, and Enterprise Risk Management to deliver cohesive legal guidance that enables product launches. * Shape the team's approach to emerging regulatory frameworks, proactively advising product teams on how new laws and guidance affect product design, disclosures, and go-to-market strategy. * Build scalable legal processes and playbooks that enable product teams to move quickly while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Required Skills and Experience: * J.D. with 7+ years of legal experience and active U.S. state bar membership, including meaningful time counseling product teams on technology product launches at a fintech, crypto/blockchain company, or consumer technology company (in-house experience preferred). * Deep familiarity with major U.S. and global payments/financial services regulations (money transmission, NYDFS BitLicense, Reg E, SEC, CFTC, CFPB, FTC Section 5/UDAAP) and the ability to apply them to novel crypto product constructs. * Demonstrated ability to provide risk-adjusted legal guidance, balancing regulatory compliance with product velocity in ambiguous or first-of-kind legal environments. * Track record of embedding with cross-functional teams and independently driving legal workstreams from problem identification through resolution. * Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality. #LI-Remote Pay Transparency Notice: Base salary varies by location (see range below). The Litigation team manages Coinbase's litigation risks across the globe. As a Senior Litigation Paralegal, you'll provide advanced support to our regulatory and consumer litigation teams, with a focus on processing civil subpoenas, summons, garnishments, levies, and account freeze requests, while assisting with all aspects of customer arbitrations and threatened litigation. What you'll do: * Manage timely and accurate responses to domestic and international subpoenas, summons, levies, liens, bankruptcies, garnishments, letters from counsel, and other civil third-party requests. * Communicate with opposing counsel and government agencies regarding third-party requests, coordinating with attorneys and litigation team members to ensure accurate and timely resolution. * Prepare and file litigation and arbitration case pleadings, and provide paralegal support for active litigation and arbitration matters in state and federal court. * Evaluate and improve litigation internal processes, identifying workflow gaps and implementing operational enhancements to increase team efficiency. * Support cross-functional legal operations projects such as tool implementations, vendor evaluations, or policy rollouts as priorities arise. Required Skills and Experience: * 8+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, including hands-on management of civil subpoenas, summons, levies, liens, garnishments, and other third-party legal requests at high volume. * Proven track record preparing and filing pleadings and supporting arbitration and litigation matters in both state and federal court. * Demonstrated ability to manage 50+ concurrent legal matters across multiple jurisdictions with competing deadlines and zero-defect accuracy in filings and correspondence. * Familiarity with legal technology platforms for case management, document review, and e-discovery workflows. * Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality. WHAT YOU'LL DO: * Architect and build Legal AI infrastructure — Design and ship a platform of AI agents and automated workflows that replace high-volume, templated legal work including institutional client agreement redlining, SEC filing support, subsidiary governance workflows, and commercial deal processing. * Own the institutional client agreement automation system — Our highest-priority use case: build an end-to-end agentic workflow that ingests counterparty markups, evaluates them against a structured playbook, generates a first-pass redline with comments, routes for human review, and tracks outcomes. This is a production-grade system affecting hundreds of institutional clients in pipeline. * Build a cohesive agent platform and governance layer — Consolidate a fragmented set of ad-hoc bots and agents into a consistent, documented, maintainable platform with naming conventions, personas, observability, and standards for how Legal agents are built and deployed. * Act as the technical thought partner to the VP and the broader Legal leadership team — Translate complex legal workflows into engineered systems, and translate engineering constraints back to non-technical stakeholders. The ability to bridge these worlds is as important as the engineering itself. * Define the make-vs-buy strategy — Evaluate and retire third-party legal tech tools in favor of purpose-built internal solutions where Coinbase's engineering strength gives us a structural advantage. * Be the case study — This role is explicitly designed to be a pilot for forward-deployed engineering in non-technical organizations at Coinbase. Success here creates the playbook for how other functions (Finance, HR, Operations) can undergo the same transformation.
