At xpate, we are building modern payment infrastructure for businesses operating across borders. Our platform combines acquiring, banking, compliance, and automation into a single ecosystem that helps companies scale globally. We are looking for a System Analyst who is comfortable working in complex technical environments and can bridge business needs with engineering execution. This role requires strong analytical thinking, solid understanding of fintech and payment systems, and the ability to translate product and business goals into clear technical requirements. YOUR ROLE AT XPATE: * Analyze, document, and continuously improve our acquiring platform, banking rails, and payment infrastructure. * Work closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into clear system requirements, technical specifications, and solution designs. * Participate in the integration of new payment providers, banking partners, and external services. * Define system workflows, data flows, API requirements, integration logic, and acceptance criteria for new and existing product initiatives. * Collaborate with engineering teams to design solutions for current technical challenges and future business goals. * Review technical implementation details where needed, including API contracts, data models, logs, and, when relevant, code-level logic. * Contribute to improvements in scalability, reliability, automation, and operational efficiency across payment and banking processes. * Prepare and maintain high-quality documentation, including functional specifications, process diagrams, user stories, acceptance criteria, API documentation, and technical notes. * Identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and platform improvements. * Support delivery by clarifying requirements, validating implemented solutions, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical execution. * Contribute to an ambitious product roadmap in a fast-growing fintech environment. WE’RE READY TO MEET YOU, IF… * 3+ years of experience as a System Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or Solution Analyst, preferably in fintech, payments, banking, or financial systems. * Strong experience documenting business processes, system integrations, APIs, technical workflows, and solution logic. * Solid understanding of payment processing, card acquiring, banking integrations, or financial infrastructure. * Experience working closely with software engineers in product teams. * Good understanding of AWS services and cloud-based architectures. Experience with services such as DynamoDB, Lambda, Aurora DB, SQS, EventBridge, or similar tools is a strong advantage. * Ability to read technical documentation, analyze API behavior, understand data flows, and work with technical implementation details. * Ability to review code logic or technical implementation at a basic level is a plus. * Strong analytical thinking and the ability to break down complex technical problems into clear requirements and practical solutions. * Experience with Jira, Confluence, BPMN, UML, sequence diagrams, or similar documentation and modelling tools. * Strong communication skills and confidence working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. * English level B2+ or higher, as you will work in an English-speaking team. * High personal ownership, proactive mindset, and genuine motivation to build and improve products. * Practical experience using AI tools to speed up analysis, documentation, problem-solving, or research. Location: Boston Preferred Toast creates technology to help restaurants and local businesses succeed in a digital world, helping business owners operate, increase sales, engage customers, and keep employees happy. The Kitchen Operations team owns one of Toast's most operationally critical and strategically exciting products: the Kitchen Display System (KDS). Deployed across tens of thousands of restaurants, Toast KDS is the connective tissue between front-of-house and back-of-house, routing tickets to the right prep stations, managing order sequencing, and helping kitchens run fast and accurately under pressure. KDS has strong growth across SMB, enterprise, and international segments. Our vision is KDS in the vast majority of Toast kitchens within the next few years. Getting there means three things: supporting the most sophisticated enterprise kitchen workflows in the market, differentiating through kitchen data and AI-powered operational insights, and growing adoption among the restaurants that still run on paper tickets. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role at the intersection of restaurant operations, hardware-software product, and applied AI. You'll shape how hundreds of thousands of kitchen workers run their stations every day — and you'll be the one building the data and agent layer that lets kitchens run smarter, not just faster. A day in the life (Responsibilities) * Own and drive the KDS product strategy — enterprise workflow depth, data differentiation, SMB attach growth, and the agentic AI roadmap — connecting investments to Toast's kitchen adoption vision and near-term business outcomes including ARR growth, support ticket reduction, and enterprise retention. * Define where agentic AI creates real value in the kitchen: proactive prep time adjustments based on real-time order load, automatic kitchen configuration changes tied to labor schedules or ordering channel mix, intelligent ticket routing and load balancing — and build the investment case to pursue the highest-leverage bets. * Own KDS delivery end-to-end, working directly with large restaurant groups to translate complex, high-stakes workflow requirements into scalable product decisions that serve the whole market. * Lead the KDS kitchen data strategy: define what kitchen efficiency insights should look like for operators at every scale, from API-first analytics for enterprise operators to actionable reporting for SMBs, and sequence the investments to unlock it. * Shape and validate the business case for the next-generation KDS strategy — the long-horizon bets that drive future growth. You can interpret and optimize queries, for performance, written by other analysts and engineers. * Thrive in a fast-paced work environment and comfortable operating under ambiguity.
