The Network Value Data Science team is helping Plaid build an industry-leading fintech consumer network with best-in-class products and user experiences. We are a product analytics team embedded in key product areas across Plaid. We support some of Plaid’s most important OKRs and help execute on product roadmaps. We translate ambiguous product questions into tractable analysis, serve as analytical thought partners throughout the org, identify opportunities to build better products, and champion a data-first decision-making approach everywhere we go. You’ll be a Data Scientist supporting Remember Me. In this role, you’ll become a data and analytical thought partner to product managers and engineers, helping drive data-informed product development for a critical user-facing product. You’ll translate business questions into analytics projects, perform ad-hoc and strategic analysis, improve visibility into core systems through data modeling and dashboarding, create OKRs quantifying progress against business goals, support feature ship decisions through experimentation, and build ML prototypes and causal inference models. Your work will directly support Conversion and Remember Me Enrolled Profile OKRs and help Plaid grow the size and depth of its Consumer Network. RESPONSIBILITIES * Champion a data-first approach toward decision-making across the entire organization * Become the data and analytical thought partner to product managers and engineers * Translate business questions into analytics projects * Perform ad-hoc and strategic analyses to identify opportunities for improved outcomes and support business decisions * Build data models and dashboards to improve visibility into core systems * Create OKRs quantifying progress against business goals * Design and analyze experiments to support feature ship decisions * Build ML prototypes and causal inference models QUALIFICATIONS * 5-8+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a related analytics or data-focused role * Experience with experimentation, ad-hoc analysis, and developing strategic insights * Strong SQL skills and experience creating metrics that drive alignment with stakeholders * Experience building data pipelines with Airflow and dbt * Strong communication skills and experience partnering cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders * Experience driving data-driven performance for user-facing products * Track record of identifying novel ways to impact a top-line OKR and influencing stakeholders on prioritization, roadmapping, and/or execution Nice to have: * Fintech experience and experience working with raw fintech data * Experience with causal inference, machine learning, and Python   Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. The Embedded Insights team builds machine learning models to enable better internal decision making and to power the Plaid product suite. We are structured as a central team of MLEs and Data Scientists, and embed with partner teams to bring ML models to life. As the first Data Scientist on Plaid’s Embedded Insights team within the Data organization, you will play a foundational role in building the analytics and measurement framework that supports a broad portfolio of internal and customer-facing products. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and machine learning teams to drive data-informed decision making, evaluate product and model performance, and contribute directly to the health and growth of the Plaid network. In this role, you will analyze entities across the Plaid network to better understand behavior patterns and develop metrics and monitoring systems that identify anomalies and emerging risks. You will create dashboards and reporting frameworks that provide clear visibility into machine learning model performance, while also evaluating the impact and value of these models on both customer and internal datasets. A key part of your work will involve translating complex analyses into compelling, actionable narratives for technical and business stakeholders. You will design and analyze experiments, communicate findings across teams, and use data-driven insights to uncover opportunities to improve existing products and expand Plaid’s offerings. Responsibilities: * Applying your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data visualization to keep the Plaid network safe and improve our product suite. * Informing and influencing product and engineering teams through your data analysis and presentations. * Making long-term data science roadmap decisions like how machine learning and data science iteration should be done at Plaid. * Championing a data-first approach toward decision-making across the entire organization. Qualifications: * 5+ years of industry experience in a Data Science role. * Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Statistics. Engineering, Economics, or a closely related field. * Experience with Payment Risk, Fraud or Trust & Safety. * Deep familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools. * Understanding of modern machine learning techniques, such as classification, clustering, optimization. * Proven ability to tailor your solutions to business problems in a cross-functional team. * Ability to code and iterate independently in Python to conduct exploratory data analysis. * Experience building data pipelines in DBT or Airflow is a plus. To support that, we need to scale our data systems while maintaining correct and complete data. We provide golden datasets and tooling to teams across engineering, product, and business and help them explore our data quickly and safely to get the data insights they need, which ultimately helps Plaid serve our customers more effectively. In addition, Plaid will not be successful if we can't move quickly. We build the data systems and tools that enable everyone at Plaid to be data-driven, making analytics easy, obvious, and proactive across the company. Data Engineers heavily leverage SQL and Python to build data workflows that integrate with our Golang applications. We use tools like DBT, Airflow, Redshift, Atlan, and Retool to orchestrate data pipelines and define workflows. We work with engineers, product managers, business intelligence, data analysts, and many other teams to build Plaid's data strategy and a data-first mindset. You will be in a high impact role that will directly enable business leaders to make faster and more informed business judgements based on the datasets you build. You will have the opportunity to carve out the ownership and scope of internal datasets and visualizations across Plaid which is a currently unowned area that we intend to take over and build SLAs on. You will have the opportunity to learn best practices and up-level your technical skills from our strong DE team and from the broader Data Platform team. You will collaborate with and have strong and cross functional partnerships with literally all teams at Plaid from Engineering to Product to Marketing/Finance etc. Responsibilities * Understanding different aspects of the Plaid product and strategy to inform golden dataset choices, design and data usage principles. * Have data quality and performance top of mind while designing datasetsLeading key data engineering projects that drive collaboration across the company. * Advocating for adopting industry tools and practices at the right time. * Owning core SQL and python data pipelines that power our data lake and data warehouse. * Well-documented data with defined dataset quality, uptime, and usefulness. Qualifications * 4+ years of dedicated data engineering experience, solving complex data pipelines issues at scale. * You’ve have experience building data models and data pipelines on top of large datasets (in the order of 500TB to petabytes) * You value SQL as a flexible and extensible tool, and are comfortable with modern SQL data orchestration tools like DBT, Mode, and Airflow. * You have experience working with different performant warehouses and data lakes; Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks. * You have experience building and maintaining batch and realtime pipelines using technologies like Spark, Kafka. * You appreciate the importance of schema design, and can evolve an analytics schema on top of unstructured data. * You are excited to try out new technologies. You like to produce proof-of-concepts that balance technical advancement and user experience and adoption. * You like to get deep in the weeds to manage, deploy, and improve low level data infrastructure. * You are empathetic working with stakeholders.
