As a Fullstack Software Engineer, you will design and build the systems and experiences that power how millions of people connect to their finances.   You will work across the stack, building scalable backend services and APIs while also crafting intuitive, high-quality frontend experiences that bring those systems to life. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy switching between backend problem-solving and frontend user experience work, and who are excited to grow their impact across both.   You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ship products that are reliable, secure, and delightful to use. At Plaid, engineers take ownership early, contribute to architectural decisions, and see their work reach millions of users. Responsibilities: * Build across the stack. Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs, as well as intuitive, high-quality frontend applications that bring those systems to life. * Collaborate cross-functionally. Partner closely with product managers and designers to define requirements and deliver features that solve real customer problems. * Maintain high code quality. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, and participate in code reviews and technical design discussions. * Test and debug. Build automated tests, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot issues in production environments. * Contribute to system design. Engage in hands-on coding and architectural decisions to ensure reliability, security, and scalability. * Grow the team. Support a strong engineering culture through mentorship, thoughtful reviews, and shared ownership of technical standards. Qualifications: * 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems or features * Experience building backend services using relational databases such as MySQL, and working with microservices or service-oriented architectures * Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks or libraries, with comfort building user-facing experiences * Solid system design, coding, and testing skills across both frontend and backend * Proven ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, and other engineering partners * Experience mentoring or supporting the growth of other engineers through reviews, guidance, or leadership * Comfortable working across product, operations, and data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that, we need to scale our data systems while maintaining correct and complete data. We provide tooling and guidance to teams across engineering, product, and business and help them explore our data quickly and safely to get the data insights they need, which ultimately helps Plaid serve our customers more effectively. Engineers on Data Infrastructure are domain experts in Data Warehouse, Data Lakehouse, Spark, Workflow Orchestration, and Streaming technologies. We scale our existing data pipelines in a performant and cost efficient way while creating the necessary abstractions to make developing on top of this platform extremely simple for other engineers at Plaid. Responsibilities * Contribute towards the long-term technical roadmap for data-driven and machine learning iteration at Plaid * Leading key data infrastructure projects such as improving ML development golden paths, implementing offline streaming solutions for data freshness, building net new ETL pipeline infrastructure, and evolving data warehouse or data lakehouse capabilities. * Working with stakeholders in other teams and functions to define technical roadmaps for key backend systems and abstractions across Plaid.  * Debugging, troubleshooting, and reducing operational burden for our Data Platform. * Growing the team via mentorship and leadership, reviewing technical documents and code changes. Qualifications * 5+ years of software engineering experience  * Extensive hands-on software engineering experience, with a strong track record of delivering successful projects within the Data Infrastructure or Platform domain at similar or larger companies. * Deep understanding of one of: ML Infrastructure systems, including Feature Stores, Training Infrastructure, Serving Infrastructure, and Model Monitoring OR Data Infrastructure systems, including Data Warehouses, Data Lakehouses, Apache Spark, Streaming Infrastructure, Workflow Orchestration. * Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, and project management skills, with proven ability to coordinate effectively.  * Proficiency in coding, testing, and system design, ensuring reliable and scalable solutions. * Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers. * [Nice to have] Experience with Databricks, Airflow, AWS EMR Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. The mission of the Developer Relations team is to empower developers to easily use and understand Plaid’s products, delivering a supportive, industry-leading developer experience via scalable, broad-reaching methods. The scope of this role covers all of Plaid's commercially available, customer-facing products. We’re looking for an experienced Developer Relations Engineer to help the world’s fintech companies (and we believe every company is a fintech company, even if they don't know it yet) integrate with Plaid's APIs. In this role, you’ll create best-in-class developer experiences, cementing Plaid's reputation as the most trustworthy, developer-friendly financial services API. This is a highly technical, highly visible role with direct impact on Plaid’s product, brand, and developer experience. Responsibilities * Create and evolve developer documentation for Plaid’s APIs – writing new content, and improving clarity, accuracy, and usability of existing content. Distill complex technical topics into approachable, accurate explanations for a broad developer audience. * Design and build sample applications, demos, and tutorial videos that demonstrate the benefits of integrating with Plaid’s APIs and the best practices to use during integrations. * Improve and maintain developer-facing resources, including the Postman collection, documentation website, and other assets. * Serve as the developer’s advocate, working with our developer community and translating external developer needs into actionable product and documentation insights for internal teams. * Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Design, and Marketing to ensure Plaid delivers a best-in-class developer experience and to build solutions that engage, activate, and onboard new developers at scale. Qualifications * 5+ years of experience in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, or similar roles, or a combination of 2+ years in Developer Relations and 3+ years in related technical roles such as Software Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Implementation, or Sales Engineering. * Ability to write clear, idiomatic code in at least one widely used backend language and one frontend language * Experience building sample applications and technical demos. * Experience writing high-quality developer documentation from scratch, and identifying gaps or opportunities in existing documentation. * Ability to quickly learn and clearly explain new technologies and concepts. * Strong developer empathy, with the ability to understand and communicate what matters most to developers. * Ability to thoughtfully leverage generative AI to accelerate your work while maintaining a high standard of quality in external-facing content. Nice to Have * Familiarity with OpenAPI. * Experience with web or mobile development. * Experience working on B2B APIs. * Experience building or growing developer communities around B2B APIs. * Strong presentation skills. * Experience creating technical content across formats such as slide decks, diagrams, web apps, or video.
