TEAM DESCRIPTION You will lead SumUp’s strong 50-member Global Accounting Operations team across Brazil, Bulgaria, and Chile, overseeing Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, and Financial Ledger processes in a high-growth, multi-entity fintech environment. This role sits at the centre of our global finance ecosystem, ensuring accounting excellence, operational consistency, and scalable financial infrastructure across regions. Your impact will go far beyond managing transactional accounting. You will unify regional structures under one global operating model, elevate leadership capability within local teams, and embed automation and process discipline that directly improve reporting accuracy, close timelines, decision-making quality, and adhere to strict ICFR compliance. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance Operations, you will partner closely with Finance leaders, Treasury, FP&A, Global Process Owners, Finance Systems Architect, and an exceptional in-house ERP [SAP] team to strengthen governance, enhance internal controls, and build a future-ready accounting function that supports SumUp’s continued growth. 🎥 Get to know our Sofia office: Sofia WHAT YOU’LL DO * Lead and develop Accounting Operations teams across Brazil, Bulgaria, and Chile, ensuring strong leadership, capability building, and clear performance standards * Standardise and optimise global R2R, P2P, O2C, and FGL processes to improve close timelines, accuracy, ICFR governance, and scalability * Drive automation initiatives in partnership with Global Process Owners, the Finance Systems Architect, and our own SAP team to reduce manual workload and strengthen internal controls * Ensure consistent IFRS and local GAAP compliance, overseeing month-end and quarter-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting quality * Provide strategic insight to senior finance leadership, proactively identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and organisational efficiency YOU’LL BE GREAT FOR THIS ROLE IF… * You have advanced expertise in IFRS, with proven experience overseeing complex, multi-entity accounting operations in financial services or fintech and fast-paced environments. * You have led global accounting teams across multiple regions and successfully driven organisational alignment in complex structures. * You have deep knowledge of SAP or comparable ERP systems and have led automation or systems transformation initiatives. * You are a strategic finance leader who balances operational excellence with long-term scalability and governance * You can operate in a complex and agile organization clearly acknowledging the importance of co-creation, collaboration, and a team-first mindset. As SumUp scales across 37 markets, the integrity of our tax accounting is more critical than ever and this role is the operational engine that makes it work. You'll apply the technical tax framework in day-to-day execution, producing precise calculations, accurate postings, and fully reconciled outputs that flow into our financial statements and management accounts.This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where your work directly shapes the quality of our tax reporting outputs, supports accurate financial statements and management accounts, and helps strengthen the processes behind them. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Produce entity-level tax provisions (current and deferred) and ETR calculations for European entities, posting entries in SAP and maintaining deferred tax roll-forward schedules * Perform monthly reconciliation of all tax-related balance sheet and P&L accounts, executing controls, variance analysis, and maintaining full audit trails * Calculate advance corporate income tax instalment payments across jurisdictions and maintain a tracker of amounts paid versus due * Book and maintain uncertain tax position (UTP) provisions in line with IAS 12 and IFRIC 23, keeping schedules current and audit-ready * Execute entity-level Pillar 2 / GloBE income and adjusted covered tax calculations, ensuring outputs feed into the controlling module accurately and on time * Contribute to the periodic tax reporting package and operate fully within the R2R month-end and quarter-end close calendar YOU'LL BE GREAT FOR THIS ROLE IF… * Strong hands-on experience producing tax provisions under IAS 12, including deferred tax accounting and ETR calculation, gained in a multinational environment * Experience supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparation of tax journals, reconciliations, reporting schedules, and audit-ready supporting documentation. * Solid working knowledge of uncertain tax position measurement under IFRIC 23 * Strong understanding of tax balance sheet accounts, journal entries, and reconciliation controls, with the ability to investigate differences and ensure outputs are complete, accurate, and well documented. * Experience preparing documentation and responding to auditor queries in relation to tax provisions, deferred tax, and tax reconciliations. * Confident SAP user with experience in financial modules and tax account reconciliation * Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and reconciliation workbooks * Fluency in written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly across Finance, Tax, and Controlling teams * Comfortable working in a matrixed finance environment, managing inputs from multiple stakeholders and adapting to evolving processes in a fast-moving business.   WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN SUMUP * 🌍 Opportunity to work with SumUppers globally on large-scale fintech products used by millions of businesses worldwide, from our modern Sofia office.
