Want to shape the future of waterborne transport and join a world-class team?
Candela is the global leader in electric hydrofoil vessels. Since 2014, we’ve gone from building our first premium electric speedboat in a small Stockholm workshop to delivering game-changing vessels around the globe. The Candela P-12 is our latest innovation - the world’s first electric hydrofoil ferry is not just operating in Stockholm, but now attracting orders from around the world. Our boats “fly” thanks to computer-guided underwater wings under the hull made out of lightweight carbon fiber. The wings lift the vessel above the water, which results in cutting energy use by up to 80%, while offering zero emissions and a far better passenger experience than traditional diesel vessels.
And that’s exactly why we do this. Our mission is clear: to speed up the transition to fossil fuel–free lakes and oceans.
Now you can be part of the amazing team at Candela! We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to Candelas Manufacturing Engineering team to take ownership of the serial production implementation of a multitude of subsystems such as Anchoring Systems, Body Hardware, Doors, Fire Fighting Equipment, General Safety Equipment etc. This is a hands-on role — you’ll design, plan, and document in CAD, but also install and test systems yourself. You’ll ensure that systems are robust, serviceable, and seamlessly integrated within Candela’s electric hydrofoiling vessels. This role involves close cross-functional collaboration with Research & Development, Production, Purchasing and Industrial design teams to turn R&D designs into reliable, Serial producible processes and designs.
What you'll do
Design and develop production tools and production test equipment.
Create detailed CAD models, assembly drawings, and installation documentation.
Lead the process of ensuring all manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with applicable safety regulations, environmental standards, and legal requirements.
Collaborate closely with Research & Development to ensure product designs are optimized for manufacturability and long-term production stability.
Drive the successful industrialization of new products by ensuring robust manufacturing processes, optimized tooling, and an efficient design-for-production approach.
Evaluate and enhance existing manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
Perform hands-on installation, prototyping, and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
Drive system validation and troubleshooting during prototype and production stages.
What are we looking for?
M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
5–10+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within marine, vehicle, or aerospace systems installation.
Proficiency in CAD design and mechanical documentation (Catia v5/3dexperience).
Practical, hands-on engineering mindset — comfortable working with tools and installations.
Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills across disciplines.
Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus.
Form of employment: Full-time with initial 6 month probation period Start date: ASAP Location/base: Rotebro, Stockholm Team: Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Reporting to: Manufacturing Engineering Director
