To accelerate towards our goal of becoming the pioneering force powering the energy system of tomorrow, we are now looking for a passionate and skilled Senior Data Scientist to join us!  👩‍💻 About The Role: As a Senior Data Scientist, you will shape the foundation of Flower’s short-term forecasting capabilities - powering the models that directly drive our daily trading decisions. You will be part of a small, highly skilled team operating at the intersection of data science, energy systems, and close-to-real-time market dynamics. You will own the full lifecycle of your models - from idea to production - working closely with Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, and Energy Market Experts to ensure our forecasting stack runs smoothly and is continuously improving. This is a hands-on role focussed on time-series modelling, rapid experimentation, and the ability to translate data into high-impact operational decisions. What You’ll Do: Build & maintain short term operational forecasting models for energy volumes & prices that drive our trading decisions on a day-to-day basis Build time series models to understand and explain recurring patterns across different measurements, products and regions to distill signals as features for your next model Prototype quickly: iterate on simple models, validate rigorously, and scale what works in a dynamic market environment Own the full model lifecycle: EDA, feature engineering, model development, validation, deployment and continuous evaluation, supported by our team of DEs, MLEs & Energy Market Experts Write your models in Python, version your code in Git, use CI/CD to ensure full reproducibility Partner with DEs to evaluate and integrate new data sources (weather, grid conditions, market signals) Collaborate & mentor across other data scientists, quants and engineers. Who You Are: Master’s or PhD in Operations Research, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Engineering Physics, or a related quantitative field. 5+ years building and deploying ML/time-series models in production Strong Python + SQL and no stranger to the command line; comfortable writing clean, maintainable, production-ready code Deep understanding of time-series forecasting and real-world modeling challenges Curious, data-driven, and comfortable working with messy or complex datasets Able to take projects from idea to production autonomously Highly driven by our mission and your impact, yet humble enough to know we are all always learning Thrive in a fast-moving environment and adapt models as markets evolve (Bonus) Experience in energy markets, trading, or power systems - or demonstrated motivation to learn 📍 Location Our beautiful office is located in the heart of Södermalm just a short walk from Slussen subway station. What you’ll do Lead the design, implementation, and deployment of advanced mathematical optimization models to maximize efficiency and revenue across multiple energy markets. Drive architectural and technical decisions for optimization systems, ensuring robustness, scalability, and maintainability. Write, review, and maintain production-grade Python code, embedding optimization at the core while setting a high standard of engineering excellence. Design effective test strategies to validate optimization models ensuring reliability and performance under diverse market conditions. Proactively identify opportunities to improve model design, optimization approaches, and integration with other trading systems. Who you are Master’s or PhD in Operations Research, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Engineering Physics, or a related quantitative field. 5+ years of professional experience developing and deploying production-grade optimization models in commercial or research settings. Proven expertise in applying advanced MILP optimization techniques to balance expressiveness of the formulation, robustness and model complexity Solid theoretical foundation and ability to translate mathematical concepts into practical, high-performance optimization systems. Strong proficiency in Python and experience developing production-quality optimization code within complex systems. Experience developing test methodologies for optimization solutions. Skilled communicator, able to present technical concepts with clarity to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and influence decision-making. Hands-on experience with mathematical modeling libraries (e.g., Pyomo, SciPy, OR-Tools) and solvers (e.g., Gurobi, HiGHS, SCIP, CPLEX, GLPK). In the Forecasting team you'll be the connective tissue between deep machine learning capability and the operational decisions it exists to support, across logistics domains such as volumes, routing, and staffing. Job duties Own and communicate a clear product vision and roadmap for forecasting - grounded in business value. Spend real time out in the operation: build relationships across logistics business units, understand how planning decisions are actually made, and bring that context back to the team. Be the trusted face of the team to the business - manage expectations, communicate progress and trade-offs honestly, and build demand and adoption for what forecasting can do. Translate operational challenges into a prioritised, well-shaped backlog the team can act on with confidence. Coach and support the team - create focus, remove obstacles, shield them from noise, and help colleagues develop their product thinking and stakeholder skills. Define what "good" looks like: connect forecasting work to decision quality, trust, and measurable business outcomes. Partner closely with the Tech Lead and Senior Data Scientists to balance ambition with what's realistically deliverable. Solid experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, ideally for data, analytics, or other decision-support products. A proven coach and team builder - you lead through influence and clarity, and you bring the best out of skilled people without relying on authority. Strong stakeholder and relationship skills, and the energy and confidence to spend much of your time out in the business rather than behind a desk. The ability to translate fluently between business needs and technical reality, in both directions. Comfort with how data science and forecasting actually work - you don't need to build models, but you understand uncertainty, iteration, and why these products behave differently from standard software. Strong prioritisation and communication skills. Meritorious experience Background in logistics, supply chain, or operational planning. Experience owning analytics, ML, or forecasting products. Familiarity with Databricks and Azure environments. A track record of growing the product and delivery maturity of a technical team. Agile or lean delivery experience. Language requirement Fluent English in speech and writing. Because so much of this role is spent face to face with the Nordic business, proficiency in at least one Scandinavian language is strongly meritorious.
