As a Gameplay AI / ML Engineer at Embark, you will be working on ARC Raiders, alongside some of the most talented people in the games industry.
We believe that great games are made in creative environments, where builds are always playable, and teams can move fast and test as many ideas as possible. In close collaboration with our designers, you will create easy-to-use systems that enable us to iterate quickly and that encourage experimentation.
Our AI team consists of a set of gameplay engineers, working on "classic" gameplay AI, and a set of Gameplay / ML engineers that further expand our tech in what is possible to achieve in AI for games.
In this role you will work closely with both our ML team and Gameplay AI team, training, building, innovating and researching new tech that can further advance our emergent AI experience in ARC Raiders.
Example of responsibilities
Work closely with stakeholders and game teams to prototype new RL locomotion platforms
Research, develop, and train RL models
Provide model performance analyses and visualizations
Improving our game-side training framework to make it easier to train, create and debug our models and platforms.
Look for opportunities to apply new tech in gameplay AI to promote more emergent gameplay
Stay current with new research and share that knowledge with the rest of the team

The Role As an Experienced Gameplay Programmer at Hacksaw Studios, you will play a central role in shaping how our games feel, behave, and perform. You will work closely with designers, artists, and other engineers to build engaging gameplay experiences and ensure our games deliver the level of quality and responsiveness players expect. This role is focused on gameplay and frontend development, where performance, responsiveness, and visual polish are critical. You will be part of a tight-knit development team where collaboration and ownership are highly valued. Your key responsibilities include: Design and implement gameplay systems and features for new and existing games. Translate game design concepts into responsive, high-quality gameplay experiences. Work closely with designers and product owners to iterate on gameplay and player experience. Maintain and extend our internal game development framework. Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance code. Participate in code reviews and technical discussions within the development team. Collaborate with other engineers across teams. What We’re Looking For: 2+ years of professional software development experience, with several years in the game industry. Strong experience with gameplay programming or interactive systems. Experience with one or more programming languages commonly used in game development such as C#, C++, Haxe, TypeScript, or JavaScript. A strong focus on performance, responsiveness, and player experience. Ability to take ownership of systems and features from concept to release. Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams with designers and artists. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Nice-to-have: Shader programming experience. 3d programming experience, such as OpenGL. Experience in debugging. Social gaming experience. Professional experience within the gaming industry. We are seeking a Principal Gameplay Animator to be a technical and creative pillar of our team. Work closely with the Animation Director and Animation Tech Designer to set and maintain the highest standards of quality and consistency within the confines of gamepay needs and limitations. Help drive the evolution of our gameplay animation through Motion Matching and similar cutting-edge animation techniques, such as Markerless Motion Capture or Machine Learning, to deliver a highly responsive and grounded multiplayer experience. Collaborate with designers and programmers to integrate complex animation features that meet the demands of competitive, high-performance gameplay. Help design and optimize studio-wide workflows, tools, and motion capture strategies to empower the animation team and maximize production efficiency. Mentor and guide the animation team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and proactive problem-solving through hands-on leadership and regular playtesting. Ideally, you have... 10+ years of games industry experience with a proven track record of shipping multiple AAA titles in senior or lead gameplay animation roles. Expert-level technical proficiency in Unreal Engine (Animation Blueprints, state machines) and mastery of industry-standard tools like MotionBuilder and Maya. Deep expertise in animation principles and elevated realism, specifically applied to complex multiplayer systems or character-driven sports gameplay. Exceptional communication and self-motivational skills, with the ability to influence decisions across multiple disciplines. A proactive, problem-solving mindset focused on working with cutting-edge animation systems and technology, with a deep appreciation for the nuances of sports games as a major plus. Your task will be to bring our game ideas to life in co-operation with the designers and product owners.
