Urban Italian Group is the creative's behind the popular Basta casual dining concept and the sophisticated Florentine brand. With 11 restaurants across Sweden and Spain, we serve authentic Italian hospitality to over 3,000 guests daily. Our diverse team of 500 culinary professionals from 53 nationalities is as dynamic as our menu – blending passion, innovation, and a love for great food.
Our portfolio includes several distinct restaurant concepts:
Basta is our casual dining brand, focused on delivering high-quality guest experiences in beautifully designed environments with strong value for the guest. The concept is suitable for the everyday experience, all from family’s to date nights. Basta have today 10 established restaurants across Sweden.
Florentine is an more upscale trattoria than Basta, offering refined relaxed luxury experiences in glamorous settings inspired by 70’s italy. Today Florentine is established in Stockholm, Marbella and soon also in Madrid.
Trattoria Giorgio’s is a new multi-unit Italian concept launched in late 2025, this is our local neighborhood version of an Italian restaurant. The single unit is today located in Östermalm, Stockholm.
Lola Maria, is our first Spanish concept, and is our love letter to the Andalusia region. The concept is focusing on social dining with tapas, quality wines and creative cocktails.
In May 2026, we will also open our new concept Villa Valentina in Slussen, Stockholm. This will be a modern Spanish farmhouse restaurant inspired by Mediterranean warmth and community around food. The location is seen as the best restaurant spot in Sweden, and is our biggest establishment in Stockholm so far.
Growth & Expansion
We are in an exciting phase of growth. Basta is expanding towards 18 locations in Sweden by 2030, while Florentine continues its international journey with openings in Madrid, Berlin and Oslo. Apart from this we expanding the UIG portfolio with more unique concept.
Your Role
As our Head Chef, you won’t just lead a kitchen – you’ll be the balance between discipline, commitment and creating great energy in the brigade.
You’ll be hands-on in both the creative and operational aspects of the kitchen, ensuring that every dish is a masterpiece. Responsibilities include:
Crafting and executing innovative menus in collaboration with our Group Head Chef.
Leading and mentoring a talented brigade, ensuring every member feels supported and inspired.
Overseeing food quality, cost control, and kitchen safety to maintain our high standards.
Driving continuous improvements and new culinary standards in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
We’re seeking a seasoned culinary leader with solid experience in high-volume restaurant operations – extra points if Italian cuisine is your passion. Your “can-do” attitude and hands-on leadership style will help you thrive in our energetic kitchen.

Dream Big - Join Villa Valentina! Urban Italian Group is launching Villa Valentina, a modern Spanish farmhouse restaurant with Mediterranean influences, opening in Slussen, Stockholm May 2026. The restaurant is UIG’s love letter to the Southern Mediterranean coast , inspired by Spanish farmhouses and defined by passion and love for social dining. Villa Valentina is about sharing experiences and laughter with your friends and loved ones. We focus on a social, shareable dining experience, genuine hospitality, carefully selected ingredients and a menu designed to be enjoyed together, creating a warm and lively restaurant with personality at its core. Set in the new heart of Slussen, Villa Valentina will be one of Scandinavia´s most significant openings, a large-scale, high-exposure venue designed for very high volume, with up to 350 seats during the summer season. About You & The Role This role is for a Sous Chef who takes pride in doing things properly and building strong results over time. You will work in a structured, high-volume kitchen with clear standards. The days are busy and demanding, and the rhythm can be intense, but the satisfaction comes from keeping the kitchen running smoothly, supporting the team, and maintaining quality under pressure. Your impact is felt in how the service flows, how the team performs, and how standards are upheld every day. Progress here doesn’t come from fast titles or constant change. Sous Chefs who do well enjoy being a steady presence in the kitchen, coaching others, solving problems during service, and taking real ownership of execution together with the Head Chef.
