Soho House Portland is hiring a Club Receptionist/Host! Scope of the Job As a full-time Club Receptionist/Host, you are the first point of contact for members and guests. You are responsible for managing the arrival experience, answering incoming calls, and handling reservations. This role requires acute organizational skills, a warm disposition, and the ability to foster a positive, hospitable atmosphere from arrival to departure. Key Responsibilities * Guest Relations: Welcome members by name and greet new guests warmly to set a positive tone. * Inquiry Management: Answer high-volume phone lines, taking messages and handling general inquiries or deliveries. * Reservations & Seating: Manage reservations via OpenTable for the club. Ensure all anticipated covers are accounted for and tables are ready. * Floor Support: Assist Food & Beverage managers with service execution and handle guest-list duties across multiple levels. * Problem Solving: Support, redirect, and resolve guest concerns in real time. * Membership Liaison: Build relationships with members, manage expectations, and forward feedback or issues to the Membership team. * Operations & Care: Maintain a clean, safe desk and reception area while managing the coat check closet. * Team Development: Train junior reception team members on Soho House process and service standards. Required Skills & Qualifications * Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience in a high-volume receptionist or hosting role. * Systems: Proficiency with OpenTable is required. Experience with Salesforce and Opera is a plus. * Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain strict discretion. * Work Style: Exceptionally detail-oriented, articulate, and capable of multitasking in a demanding environment. * Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. POSITION OVERVIEW: This role is crucial in helping our agents find tailored solutions, focusing on High Value accounts and customers with complex insurance needs. This position encompasses all lines of business for these clients. This includes, but is not limited to, new business submissions, phone calls and emails. expected to respond quickly to peers and junior underwriters * Agent Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with agents, providing counsel and guidance on the High Value segment and completing necessary agency travel to nurture relationships. * Prospecting: Partnering with agents to actively prospect, solicit, and underwrite new High Value accounts to achieve profitable growth aligned with company objectives, state and territory goals. * Market Monitoring: Monitor market trends to inform underwriting decisions and strategies. * Market Knowledge: Continuously develop knowledge of the insurance market. * Leadership and Mentoring: Lead high-priority presentations and trainings, and mentor junior underwriters, providing guidance on complex cases. * Referral Handling: Handle referrals from underwriters with lower authority. * Claims and Legal Interaction: Interact with claims and legal teams regarding large losses and participate in claims and legal roundtables. * Territory Performance and Growth: Manages and grows assigned territory to achieve profitable results through new business development and disciplined underwriting practices. * Prioritization and Desk Management:Takes personal ownership for the management of workload and output amongst assigned agents.Applies understanding of business workflows and processes to determine focus and urgency needed. * Negotiation: Effectively negotiates with agents on exceptions and recommends mitigation efforts to make the requested exception more palatable or in line with our underwriting strategy. WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: * Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree. * Minimum of 5 years of PL high value underwriting or high value sales experience * CPCU, CIC, CPRIA or related insurance designations preferred * Ability to work in a fast-paced or stressful environment * Strong team collaboration skills and strong communication skills * Travel: 25%-35% agency travel required (both in-person and virtual).
