OHB Sweden is a leading provider of satellites and satellite sub-systems for Low-Earth-Orbit, geostationary and interplanetary missions. We develop, build, test and operate space systems for missions within communications, earth observation, space research and exploration. Our activity focus is small satellites as well as on propulsion subsystems and innovative Attitude & Orbit Control Systems (AOCS). We are now looking for a Propulsion Product Manager to grow and strengthen our satellite propulsion portfolio.
As Propulsion Product Manager, you will lead satellite propulsion products through their full lifecycle: define strategy and roadmap, set requirements and KPIs, support bids and pricing inputs, and drive product improvements based on customer feedback. You will be a key link between engineering, supply chain, sales and program teams.
Set product strategy: Translate the business area strategy into a clear product plan—what we build, why it matters, and how we deliver it.
Position the products: Define cost/lead time/performance targets; set high-level technical and program requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Own profit & loss (P&L) forecasting: Maintain the product P&L outlook; manage cost databases and standard Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
Manage investments: Track and prioritize development spend; provide price guidance and minimum sales targets.
Run the Product Line: Lead continuous improvement within the approved annual budget—prioritize, decide, and unblock to keep momentum.
Build the supply chain: Define make/buy for parts and investments; shape partnerships and long-term agreements with key.
Own the tech roadmap: Maintain the product backlog; identify R&D needs and features; seek external funding where possible and secure approvals for internally funded activities.
Close the feedback loop: Capture product functionality feedback through customer visits and surveys; translate insights into backlog and roadmap updates.
Drive product proposals: Actively support product proposal preparation by shaping win theme, and providing technical, financial and program inputs
University degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or similar.
Proven experience (+3 years) managing space propulsion products (regulators/valves, thrusters, feed systems) or adjacent high-reliability hardware.
Strong financial acumen.
Skill at building tech roadmaps, prioritizing R&D, and integrating features into delivery programs.
Clear, concise communicator who aligns engineering, procurement, sales, and program teams.
Customer-driven mindset with a track record of continuous improvement.
Candidates must be proficient in English, both spoken and written.

As an Mechanical, Thermal & Propulsion (MTP) Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of spacecraft propulsion systems at OHB Sweden. The Propulsion Department is responsible for the complete lifecycle of OHB Sweden's propulsion products, including system design, analysis, testing, qualification, production support, and future technology development. The department plays a central role in enabling mission success and is a key contributor to OHB Sweden's long-term competitiveness in the rapidly evolving space industry. As our propulsion business continues to grow, we are strengthening our engineering organization with a new multidisciplinary technical leadership role. About the Role As an MTP Systems Engineer, you will be the technical owner of complete propulsion subsystems from concept through qualification and production. The role combines systems engineering with deep technical understanding of spacecraft propulsion, thermal control, and mechanical engineering. You will coordinate multidisciplinary development activities and ensure that all engineering disciplines work together to deliver an optimized subsystem. You will lead the technical development of propulsion subsystems while coordinating a team of specialists within propulsion, thermal engineering, mechanical design, and structural analysis. Although these specialists provide the detailed engineering within their respective disciplines, you will be responsible for the overall technical solution and ensuring that all subsystem requirements are met. You will work closely with customers, suppliers, project managers, and internal engineering teams throughout the complete product lifecycle. As an MTP Engineer, you will be responsible for: Technical ownership of spacecraft propulsion subsystems throughout the full development lifecycle. Defining technical solutions together with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Coordinating activities across propulsion, mechanical, thermal, and structural engineering disciplines. Leading technical trade studies and engineering decisions. Ensuring subsystem performance, interfaces, requirements compliance, and technical consistency. Driving system budgets including mass, pressure, thermal, structural, and performance. Coordinating subsystem verification, qualification, and acceptance activities. Supporting customer meetings, technical reviews, and proposal activities. Working closely with project managers to balance technical performance, schedule, cost, and risk. Mentoring engineers and providing technical guidance within the multidisciplinary team. What We're Looking For Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline. At least 7 years of experience developing spacecraft or in-orbit propulsion systems. Solid understanding of spacecraft mechanical design principles. Strong understanding of spacecraft thermal control systems and thermal engineering. Good understanding of spacecraft propulsion systems, including monopropellant hydrazine and bipropellant propulsion. Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams. Experience coordinating complex technical developments across several engineering disciplines. Strong systems thinking and excellent problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Fluency in English. It is considered an advantage if you also have Experience with electric propulsion systems. Experience with propulsion system integration and verification. Experience working with ESA or other institutional space programs. Experience with spacecraft system engineering. Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior R&D Engineer (Electromagnetic Propulsion) to lead the physical modelling, simulation, and experimental validation of a next-generation, multistage Electromagnetic Launch System. In this role, you will bridge the gap between advanced physics theory and cutting-edge engineering. You will be responsible for defining the mathematical framework of inductance acceleration, optimizing pulsed-power efficiency, managing extreme thermal/mechanical stresses, and building physical prototypes to validate your models. Physics Modelling & Electromagnetic Analysis Develop the fundamental mathematical frameworks and multi-physics models (electromagnetic, thermal, and material physics) to describe inductance acceleration and transient system behaviours. Investigate complex magnetic Lorentz forces, skin effects, and proximity effects acting on coils under high-frequency, time-varying currents. Utilize advanced simulation tools to analyse a large parameter space (coil geometry, shape, size, and turn count) to optimize magnetic field production and projectile acceleration. 2. Multistage System Architecture & Optimization Design and analyse multistage acceleration configurations, defining the optimal number of stages, mutual stage interactions, and microsecond-level activation timing architectures. Optimize the stored-to-kinetic energy conversion efficiency by minimizing un-utilized magnetic flux, ohmic/resistive losses, and eddy current heating. Define the boundary conditions, switching requirements, pulse shapes, and power regulation dependencies for the electrical and control subsystems. 3. Component Design & System Integration Collaborate with external project partners to integrate custom-engineered, high-current pulsed-power coils optimized for mechanical stability and thermal resilience. Oversee the concept design of specialized payloads to ensure seamless compatibility with the electromagnetic launch environment. Address system-level integration challenges arising from high-intensity electromagnetic fields on surrounding components. 4. Thermal Management & Power Control Identify transient heat sources within the accelerator stages and propose highly effective thermal management and cooling solutions. Optimize the physical routing of the electrical power supply to the coil inductors to handle extreme stress environments. 5. Experimental Validation & Safety Design, build, and operate an experimental test setup to validate simulation data, testing for acceleration efficiency, discharge pulse dynamics, and heat management. Conduct comprehensive safety analyses on high-voltage and high-energy electromagnetic components. Establish strict safety protocols and ensure total compliance with relevant electrical safety standards for pulsed-power operations. Required Technical Skills & Experience: Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a highly related field with a focus on Electromagnetics. Simulation Mastery: Extensive experience with multi-physics simulation software (e.g., COMSOL, Altair Flux, or MATLAB/Simulink) focusing on transient electromagnetic fields. Pulsed Power Expertise: Knowledge of inductance acceleration, magnetic forces, high-current switching, and power electronics. Thermal & Mechanical Insight: Familiarity with managing thermal dissipation and mechanical stress in high-energy electrical systems. Hands-on Testing: Experience setting up laboratory diagnostics, high-speed data acquisition systems, and working safely with high-voltage hardware. Preferred Attributes: Experience in advanced aerospace or defence R&D, specifically in coil gun, or linear induction motor technologies.
