The role You’ll work as part of a small, cross-functional team with shared end-to-end responsibility, collaborating closely to drive work from idea to delivery and continuous improvement. In this role, you’re expected to take initiative and help move work forward, ensuring progress and alignment across disciplines. You’ll challenge assumptions, surface risks early, and contribute to sound technical decisions by bringing clarity, pragmatism and focus to complex discussions while helping the team deliver meaningful, high-quality outcomes. What you’ll work on Deliver meaningful features end-to-end — design, build, test, deploy, and evolve backend-focused services with a strong sense of ownership and quality. Build modern, scalable systems — develop primarily in Java, Kotlin, Golang, collaborating with frontend engineers and contributing where needed to React/TypeScript applications. Shape architecture and technical direction — apply Domain-Driven Design, Test-Driven Development, microservice and event-driven patterns to solve complex problems and raise the bar across the team. Lead cloud-native development — design and operate services on AWS, using containers, orchestration platforms, and serverless patterns to build resilient, future-proof solutions. Design data and system behaviour at scale — model data across NoSQL and relational systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and secure operation in distributed environments. Strengthen delivery and operational excellence — improve CI/CD pipelines, support production systems, and continuously refine engineering practices for long-term sustainability. What will help you succeed Solid senior experience (5+ years) building backend systems in cloud-native, distributed environments. Strong ownership mindset — you’re comfortable taking a feature from idea to production and standing behind your decisions. Architectural judgement — you know when and how to apply DDD, TDD, microservices, and event-driven design pragmatically. Hands-on cloud and DevOps experience — particularly with AWS, containerisation, CI/CD, and modern deployment models. Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and methods to enhance productivity, code quality, and system design. Clear, thoughtful communication and a willingness to mentor others. The role is broad but centered on backend. You'll work on projects for both Swedish and international companies, including systems that integrate external services, automation, and frontend clients. As a Senior Backend Developer, your role will involve: Building high-performance backend systems in Go, Kotlin, TypeScript (Node.js), or Python, depending on the project. Working with frameworks such as Ktor, Fiber, and NestJS. Designing cloud-native systems with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) across AWS, GCP, and Azure. Developing robust data models and database architectures to support application requirements. Building observable systems with the right metrics, logs, tracing, and alerting to understand and operate what we ship. Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with containerized deployments and scaling strategies. Who You Are: 5+ years of experience building and running backend services in production. Comfortable owning a system end to end, from API design to deployment and operations. Strong in at least one of our core languages (Kotlin, Go, or TypeScript), and willing to pick up others as projects demand. Experience making technical decisions on a team: weighing tradeoffs, reviewing code, and mentoring peers. A product mindset: You think about maintainability, user impact, and long-term health, not just the ticket in front of you.
